CONTRACTLY, IT'S YOU -
21 - YOU'RE MINE
"There's something you aren't telling me. I mean look at the picture of you two stepping out of the club I Cancun. Baby girl, you look flushed, you look drunk, heated, you look like you had sex!"
My eyes catch Noami's. "What? I didn't have sex," I defend. I blinked away, Cancun was a week ago, Kai had an emergency and we had to fly back to Seatle. Now, I was in Noami's apartment by 7 in the morning in beige pajamas, holding my cup of jasmine tea, avoiding Noami's gaze, and the picture was pushed to my face. I wasn't looking flushed, I was indeed flushed.
The media seemed to follow Kai everywhere. Why? Simply because of his wealth. I wasn't expecting them to replace us in Cancun, but they did and took horrible pictures of me.
My phone chimes, and I side-glance it. It's Kai's message. I slowly without hesitation pick up my phone and open his message.
Kai: I have a business to attend in Singapore, so I won't be home tonight.
I stared at his message for a while and I didn't realize Noami was at my back, reading.
"Does it sound suspicious? You're contemplating on a contract text too much, Tiff," I snap back, looking at her, and our lips almost met. I gasp, moving away, eyeing her.
"The fuck, girl," I rant, but Noami rolls her eyes.
"Listen, the way you were staring-"
"Forget that. I'm telling you I can't fall in love with Kai, okay? At least not now. You know how much I hate men, they would leave you and break you when you least expect, take a look at—"
"You're judging every man in the world with one man who didn't make it right, mine did." Noami snaps, and I glitch, staring speechlessly.
Kai hasn't been that bad either, apart from his coldness. He's really sweet, and loving. I inhale loudly.
"I don't think he is gay," I whisper, and my body betrays me, reacting to every detail of that night at the club.
"Yeah- wait what!"
"We kissed, okay? I kissed him, I was drunk!" I defend. The room is silent, and Noami is paused, I sigh, because it's expected of her to react that way.
"Wait you had your first kiss!" She yells, and I sigh heavily, but she can't stop blushing on my behalf. "Tiffany!"
How do I tell her it isn't my first kiss? It's almost my fourth kiss with Kai.
"I'd do anything for that house, it's just a kiss, and I get a house, car, and millions of dollars for life," I roll my eyes, letting her know it's not a big deal.
"Then, would you ride him for the same price?" My head shifted to Noami, and she swallowed, looking away. "Listen, I'm just saying. You aren't a lip Virgin anymore, I mean, you could as well have fun with Kai and just leave the relationship when the contract ends, at least you had fun with a man,"
"Thank you, but I decided to die a virgin,"
"Hmmm, yeah. So, what are you going to do? Do you want to make him love you and leave him heartbroken?"
"Yes! That's the game," I said, but my heart felt guilty for saying that. Kai was a really sweet husband.
As Noami was about to speak, my phone rang. I looked at the caller, and it was an unknown number. I darted at her severally before picking it.
"Miss Halton?"
"Yes. May I—"
"This is Mr Winson's office calling. Mr Winson would want to know if you have time to attend dinner with him at his mansion tonight?"
My brows press together, "I thought Kai was in Singapore?"
"Oh, no. Mr Nolan Winson," the lady said. I blinked and turned in Noami's direction. I nodded to everything she said on the phone. Was I supposed to tell Kai his father wanted to see me?
I hung up and blinked severally. My gaze held Naomi. "Do you want to go shopping?"
Noami's lips curled into a smirk following a smile. "Are you insane? It's on Kai right?" I nodded, "Of course!" She yelled and stormed into her room.
I danced as I stared at myself in a brown dress.
"One minute you're wearing a red, mini, and inappropriate dress for his son, and the other you're dressing so appropriately for his father."
I looked back at Noami who sat unbothered with our bags at her side, eating a veg salad.
I shook my head about to add more flames to her thoughts. "And I danced on him too in that red inappropriate dress," I whispered, avoiding her gaze and checking out my dress. "Tiffany! Girl!" She yelled softly.

I looked at the store lady. "I'll take this, and the bag," I smiled, ignoring her.
I didn't have much memory of Cancun, but that was my favorite. I wanted to feel every emotion I felt there.
On the day of the dinner with Kai's father. I arrived at his mansion earlier than I should have. At least, five minutes earlier. Kai and I were already married, I couldn't imagine the conversation we were going to have. Was he going to throw me some money to leave Kai? I mean, Kai offered me a lot, what could he possibly offer me?
"I'm sorry to call you here like this," Mr Nolan said, I nodded, smiling.
"It's no problem," I said. I glanced downwards at the pasta served.
The silence grew heavier. I ate at a slow pace and sipped more wine. My whole body was tensed, I thought it wasn't a big deal, but I felt like I had done something wrong.
"Do you love my son?" I dropped my wine glass, choking slightly.
"Yes," I forced myself to speak, stopping myself from choking even further. "Of course, I love Kai."
I blinked as my mind repeated the statement in my head. I shook my head discarding those words. I only said yes, because his father asked. Was I to say no? I defended myself against my thoughts.
"Yes." He paused, "I've seen the way he carries you, I have never seen my son so in love," I plastered a smile. Poor man, I blinked, unable to meet his gaze.
"I can tell Kai likes you. He is just like his mother, he is only warm with whoever he feels comfortable with, and in so many years I haven't seen warm towards any person until you came along."
I exhaled, "What "I froze, and furrowed my brows. Asking what kind of person his mother was, was going against the contract. "Does he?"
"He has shown me how much of a husband he can be, and how mature he could be. Giving him some project wouldn't be a bad thing. He looks more stable, he wasn't so warm with his ex-wife, I'm sure you've heard about her, Amelia," Mr. Nolan said with a laugh.
My mouth dropped. A project? Does this mean that the possibility of Kai getting the Winson's will? Hold on, pleasing him was Kai's ticket to getting the will he wanted. I could simply come to see him every day, and Kai's will would be getting more certain by the day.
"But I thought you didn't like me for Kai? Plus, I made a huge mistake at your birthday party," I asked, confused. I was supposed to be his source of rebelling. "Kai's my son. Whoever he is happy with, is my relaxation and Conrad was at fault."
I blinked, speechless, staring in awe. That's true, if Conrad hadn't approached me, Kai wouldn't have retaliated aggressively.

My phone rings, and I look at it. It's Kai calling. I look around the corridor, and there's no one. I was still at his father's mansion, but the dinner was now over. I picked it up, and immediately his soft voice soothed my heart. "Hey, love."
"Hey," I replied, breathing heavily.
"Didn't you get my text?" He asked. I pushed my phone away from my ear, opening his message box. My jaw dropped at his messages, he left eight texts.
Kai: Are you up? Kai: Do you want me to get you anything? Kai: Singapore is fun, yet boring. Kai: Call me when you see my text. Kai: Hey love. Kai: Are you okay? Kai: Tiffany? What would you like?
"I'm sorry." I breathed. "Guess where I am."
"You know how much I hate the guessing game, love," I giggle, unconsciously kicking my feet on the floor.
"Your father's, I'm sorry I'm just telling you, I couldn't turn down his offer, and I didn't want to bother-"
"Listen, love. It's fine."
"But the contract," I played with my lips.
There was a huge silence and a drag of breath. "Let's not focus on that, for now," my eyes lit up, and I swallowed hard.
"For now?"
"Yeah. So, tell me, was he nice?" He asked.
"Yeah, he was. He didn't." I paused, and turned around, "What if he wasn't? What would you do?" I teased.
"Well, you're mine,"
"Oh, I am yours?" I chuckled, rolling my eyes. I know he couldn't see my expression, but I imagined how hot he would look like staying that, his voice made whole butterflies dance in my belly. The rush of adrenaline was sickening. "Stay there," he said and hung up. I stared at my phone, confused, my mouth fell open. Did he just hang up amid that conversation?
"Well, whatever, I better head home," I turned around and moved backward startled. I held my roaring heart, staring at Conrad. He smirked, staring bitterly at me.
