Chapter 368

Maja sat beside Samuel, who had conveniently placed her beside lan.

It was clear as day that Samuel was looking to stir the pot.

Across in the other booth, Maureen had shot her a few glances. Though she hadn’t said anything

outright, her dislike for Maja was pretty obvious. lan’s event had ended early, but Samuel had a second

act lined up.

Being the life of the party, Samuel livened up the atmosphere instantly and smoothly steered the

conversation toward ByteWise Technologies. Tonight’s dinner, hosted by Silverstone Enterprises, was

to thank lan. So, as long as things didn’t get awkward, it was all good.

Now with Samuel in the mix, everyone was having a blast.

Judson, who was familiar with ByteWise Technologies, joined in the chat.

“Mr. Brown just bought a big company. Are you interested in ByteWise Technologies?”

Samuel chuckled, “I just heard that ByteWise Technologies has partnered with several companies. I’m

surprised at how they managed to get them all on board.”

More bigwigs chimed in.

“Isn’t it ByteWise’s MO to offer up direct benefits? They always target companies that are in a rut.

Those companies probably see ByteWise as a lifesaver.”

After a few minutes of banter, even Samuel had a good laugh.

“I heard the Raymond Corporation blacklisted ByteWise Technologies. Does Mr. Raymond have some

dirt on Knox?”

lan did, but there was no need for Raymond Corporation to deal with a company like ByteWise

Technologies just yet.

He took a sip of his drink and leaned casually against the back of his chair.

His wrist sported an expensive watch, and the movement of lifting his drink made the veins on the back

of his hand stand out.

He was quite the eye–catcher.

Maja sneaked a few glances at him before turning her attention to ByteWise Technologies.

Samuel raised his glass to lan.

“Mr. Raymond, if you know, could you tell Penny? Her husband can’t seem to handle her beef with

Knox.”

Maja’s heart pounded. Samuel loved to cause trouble. If lan ever found out who she really was and

remembered this moment, he’d probably make a mess of Samuel’s company.

lan’s gaze met hers just as she was about to defend her husband.

“Do you have a personal beef with Knox?”

Maja’s heart raced. She was worried lan would make the connection to the Pennyfeather family’s

company.

But Samuel came to her rescue.

“Mr. Raymond, Knox was a friend of my father. Given my father’s preferences, what beef could Knox

possibly have with Penny? Didn’t she expose some directors at the Arcadia School of Modern Art?

These people were all in cahoots with my father.”

Daniel, the old coot, was indeed despicable, but his biggest punishment was probably having a son like

Samuel.

Now, Maja fully understood Samuel’s cunning..

He talked about the Brown family’s scandal so casually. The scandal had caused a stir in their circle, as

it involved Solstice College and the students. After Daniel’s downfall, Samuel naturally took over the

family business.

Now he was discussing the Browns without hesitation, clearly confident in his current standing and

believing that it wouldn’t affect him.

His words provided Maja with a perfect alibi.

Plus, they were a wake–up call that Knox’s private affairs were also quite messy.

Samuel had a smile on his face.

“Mr. Raymond, don’t you have enough evidence to shut down ByteWise Technologies? Why not help

Penny? After all, she’s your designer.”

lan squinted his eyes, and his response was far from kind.

“Why would I help her?”

In other words, her being a designer wasn’t enough for him to step in.

His words left Samuel dumbfounded but made Carlene burst into laughter. She agreed wholeheartedly.

“She’s just a designer. Even if lan has the evidence, it’s something the Raymond family worked hard to

obtain. It can’t just be handed over to an outsider.”
