Chapter 672

Maja initially wanted to ask Nolan if he had threatened Erlinda, but seeing Erlinda’s eyes darting around nervously,

she figured out that the girl was terrified of being caught talking to her.

“Okay, Erlinda, here’s my office address. I’ll be waiting for your response.”

Erlinda just glanced at the address and memorized it, handing back the piece of paper to Maja.

“I’ve got it memorized.”

Looked like Erlinda had been backed into a corner.

Back at the office, Maja juggled paperwork while waiting.

Around 5 in the evening, she received a local express delivery with which came an additional $70.

There were three scripts, all handwritten.

As she flipped through the first one, her eyes sparked with surprise.

It was a captivating crime detective drama, with plot twists galore that kept she guessing until the very end about

the identity of the murderer.

The methods of killing were enough to send chills down anyone’s spine.

The most surprising thing to Maja was that this was the work of a young girl.

Maja was instantly blown away and quickly moved on to the second and third scripts.

The first one was a crime detective drama.

The second one was about the gritty realities of life in the city.

The third one was again a crime detective drama.

Erlinda seemed to have a knack for dissecting human nature through these stories.

Maja was excited and immediately dialed Erlinda’s number.

“Erlinda, I’m buying all three scripts. Name your price,” Maja spoke without giving time for the person on the

opposite side to even respond.

Instead of Erlinda’s voice, a middle–aged man answered.

“Who is this?”

Maja figured that it was Erlinda’s father, Feynman.

Maja felt a sinking feeling in her chest as she answered, “I’m a friend of Erlinda, where is she?”

A touch of embarrassment crossed Feynman’s face. He and Jean had knocked off work early that day only to hear

rumors circulating in their neighborhood about Erlinda buying birth control pills on the sly.

Coming from a small town, they were simple folks who never imagined Erlinda would do such a thing.

They had already confronted Erlinda, but she refused to say anything, just knelt and cried. She was still kneeling.

But Feynman was determined to keep that embarrassing incident under wraps.

“Erlinda’s helping Jean with dinner. What did you mean by those scripts? Has Professor Smith seen them?”

“I’ve already spoken to Professor Smith about it.”

“Alright then, we haven’t eaten dinner yet, we can talk later.”

Upon hearing this, Feynman felt a bit relieved and glanced at Erlinda who was still kneeling in the distance.

The call ended.

Feynman placed the phone on the table and flung a nearby glass at her.

“You still won’t admit it? The lady at the pharmacy said it was you! You were wearing the same clothes she

described, and it wasn’t even just once! Who have you been with? Do you have any respect for us?!”

Erlinda trembled, swaying slightly.

Feynman approached her his face filled with sorrow, unable to believe that his daughter would be so disobedient.

“Erlinda, tell me, haye you been deceived by a man?” He softened his tone, trying to have a heart–to–heart with

her.

Erlinda shook her head, biting her lip tightly.

“If that’s your choice then you’re beyond redemption! How could I have a daughter like you!”

Feynman slapped Erlinda.

Erlinda’s head jerked to one side; she could only watch as Feynman picked up his phone to call Nolan.

In front of Nolan, Feynman was very humble.

“Professor Smith, this is Erlinda’s father, Feynman. I just wanted to ask, does Erlinda have a boyfriend at school?

Has she been dating someone behind our backs?”

Seeing Feynman so humble in front of Nolan and completely trusting him, Erlinda felt like her heart was being torn

apart.

Nolan put on his serious teacher face, his tone becoming very earnest.

“Erlinda is very diligent in her studies. Several investors have already shown interest in her scripts, but they all

require modifications. Scripts can make money, and knowing your family’s situation, I’ve been constantly urging her

to revise her scripts. As for a boyfriend, I don’t interfere with my students‘ personal Lives

Mentioning investors, Feynman immediately thought of the call he received earlier and hurriedly explained.

“There was a woman who called me earlier, saying that Erlinda’s three scripts are very good and that she can

name her price. Is this the investor you were talking about?”

This comment caused both Erlinda, who had been shrinking in fear, to suddenly lift her head, and Nolan’s face to

darken.

Nolan stood up from his chair, his eyes filled with a dark look that Feynman didn’t notice.

“Oh? Someone called Erlinda?”

Hearing him ask this, Feynman wanted to explain the situation right away.

But just as he was about to say something, Erlinda grabbed his leg at that moment, requesting him, “Dad, don’t talk

about this.”

Seeing Erlinda like this, Feynman was furious.

If they can’t even trust her teacher, who can they trust?

Nolan was the scriptwriter for the TV drama series the family was hooked on!
