TEARS OF HATE

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At the exact moment when Mari opened her mouth to start telling the truth to the young man sitting next to him on the bed, a strong icy wind opened the wooden windows of the small room with a loud bang that startled Occisor, Mari calmly got up and closed the windows past the latch.
Once again she took a deep breath, although many saw her as cold and heartless (and she really wasn’t), she cared too much, for both Occisor and Margaret. They were her family and she would do anything for them.
– Do you know what a velut luna is? – Mari asked, still looking at Occisor.
– Yes, I read in one of Margaret’s books that the female with that title is the mate of the alpha male. That was clear to anyone, Occisor loved to be the smart one and be the one to stand out.
– So you know a lot about the lycanthrope race, do you? – he finally went back to the bed and sat down next to the boy.
– Not much, Margaret said it wasn’t a book for my age, I disagreed, but she wouldn’t let me read anymore, that heavy! – She made a peck and Mari held back the urge to laugh at the little boy’s sulky face.
– I see, have you ever wondered why you like to eat reeds just rare, almost raw?
– I know why, it’s because they’re delicious! What I don’t understand is why you and Margaret don’t like to eat these delicacies. There’s no better food! Look how strong I am! – he stewed his chest and folded his arms, however, in less than three seconds his arms dropped, one on each side of his body – But…. What does this have to do with my mother?
Mari took another deep breath, and Occisor kept watching him, outside the room, Margaret had her ear to the door. She too wanted to know the truth about Occisor, all she knew when she arrived was that her mother and aunt had been killed by the cruel wolves and that she had saved him from the same fate.
– It was a velut luna – Mari spoke bluntly and watched the boy’s reaction in front of her. Nothing. He said nothing, so she continued – What I am going to tell you is not a pretty story. Are you ready or would you prefer to wait a little longer?
– I’m ready,” he said firmly, but his eyes twitched.
– All right, five years ago, in a harsh winter, the moon shone in the sky and the velut moon gave birth to a cub. Werewolves, when they give birth to their young,…
– They remain in their lupine forms until the cubs are six months old, and the cubs only show signs of humanity at six months -Occisor interrupted Mari and completed his sentence, already losing some of his patience.
– Yes, you already knew that. However, when you were born…
He paused for a moment, the boy’s curious eyes clouded.
Already wondering what could have happened? – Mari wondered as she looked at the boy who listened attentively.
– The birth forced your mother to return to human form and then you were born, as if you were a baby with only human b***d, without any lycanthropic characteristics.
– Why? – she whispered, but Mari listened and ignored the question.
– Her mother was accused of treason and of being involved with the witches to hide the scent of the man she betrayed her mate with. The execution took place that same night, but she fought and escaped, her aunt helped them escape, they both believed the goddess chose him for some purpose, and with that. A cimex moon rebelled against the whole pack and paid the price with her own life, but unfortunately your mother was badly wounded and could no longer run, unable to continue protecting you she entrusted you to me, the wolves found you and killed you, they rejected you and hunted you down.
– What… What were my mother and aunt’s names? – she asked with her eyes closed, she didn’t want to cry, not in front of a woman.
– Esmeralda, and her aunt’s name was Ruby.
– What… What were they like? – his speech was garbled.
Occisor had his eyes closed tightly, the burning was too much, the tears wanted to come out at all costs.
– His mother had long black hair and green eyes. Ruby had reddish brown hair and amber eyes. They were both extremely beautiful, strong and….
– Never! – Margaret appeared at last and flung open the door – Never will this damned race be beautiful! You’re all horrible! Cruel! You miserable…
– Shut the f**k up! – Occisor screamed and lay face down on the bed. The burning in his eyes grew even stronger.
– Are you going to cry? Those bastards left your aunt with her body unrecognizable, they trampled her until there was nothing left of her body and your mother with her head cut off, they did that to their own race and they only didn’t do the same to you for ….
– I told you to shut up! – this time he shouted letting out a growl that made Margaret’s eyes widen and shudder.
– You’ve got to be kidding me, I don’t believe this Mari – A lone tear rolled down from Margaret’s eyes.
– Margaret, listen…
Margareth didn’t listen, turned her back and ran down the hall. Mari looked at Occisor and decided to let him ingest the whole story, alone. Now she needed to replace Margareth.
With her vampiric speed that exceeded the speed of sound, Mari in seconds reached Margareth and turned to see her, seeing the tears in her eyes saddened her, she didn’t want to see them there, and in an attempt not to see them she lied to Margareth telling her that Occisor was simply a human baby, that he was the fruit of dishonor in the lycanthropic race. But he always knew that sooner or later that day would come and it would not be easy. Carefully, he raised his thumb to the young woman’s cheeks and wiped away her tears.
– Why did you do that? He’s one of them.
– No, Margaret, Occisor is one of us, he, like you, is a Van Helsing. They are both my children!
Mari hugged the young girl who was crying like there was no tomorrow. After much snotting, she untangled herself from her guardian’s arms.
– What if… he becomes like those monsters? What if he…?
– I’ll never be like any of them! I’ll kill those monsters! I’ll hunt them down one by one, I’ll reject them, like they did to me, I’ll do far worse things to them! – Occisor uttered each word with clenched fists and trembling.
Margaret was startled, she had not noticed the little one’s presence. She looked at him hesitantly, but soon any doubt was extinguished from her mind. Tears were still falling from Occisor’s eyes, but the steadiness in his gaze, the hatred was transparent.
– Count me in.
