THE DAUGHTER OF THE GENUINE ALPHA
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The food table was plentiful, on the dark stone walls of the great hall, every four meters a torch was lit with fire dancing on them and the last rays of the sun illuminated the dining room. The genuine couple was the first to feed, when they finished it was the turn of the betas couples and then by the omega couples. When the table was practically empty, with only bones and leftovers, it was cleared for the last one’s meal.
– Now you can help yourself, Bloodstain – ordered the genuine one to his puppy, who couldn’t take his eyes off the table, with his mouth salivating and his stomach growling every time he saw someone chewing any piece of meat, but he waited patiently for his turn.
– Well, Dad…
– I told you not to call me that! – shouted the genuine one, interrupting the little hand from picking up one of the bones from the table- Go to your lair, you’re not eating today!
– But…
– You want a beating, you bastard! – Bloodstain felt his whole body tremble at the murderous look his mother was giving him.
It’s been three days since the little one hasn’t eaten, the first day it was because she transformed and ran through the forest hiding, she was trapped lying in a tree with big roots that protected her from the snowflakes. The second was because she didn’t clean up the b***d in the torture room after the genuine one had fun slicing up a middle-aged human, and now this. Tears cascaded down the girl’s almond-shaped brown eyes, her belly rumbled, but the fear was far greater.
– You know I don’t like this,” Kratos tugged, almost pulled, at the long black hair on Bloodstain’s scalp causing her immense pain and forcing her to raise her head, “Don’t make me lose patience with you, you bastard! – he shouted and spat in the face of the girl who closed her eyes and swallowed the cry, unable to control some solutions that came out of her mouth without her permission and she knew she was pissing off the genuine one even more.
– Sir, she…
– Stay out of this! – he growled at the cimex moon who tried to intervene on the girl’s behalf.
With disgust on his face, Kratos shoved Bloodstain, who fell to the ground, hitting his head. He was dizzy for a few seconds and felt b***d coming out of his eyes. Taking a deep breath, she gathered all her strength and got up from the ground, looked around and received only looks of disgust and contempt coming from almost everyone around her. The only different look was from the cimex moon named Guila. Bloodstain bowed to the genuine couple and walked out of the dining room. With hesitant steps, leaning against the walls, he descended the stairs that led to the basement of the castle, which was where his lair was. Alone again. It hurt, she hated being alone, but loneliness was her greatest companion.
Bloodstain, like the other members of all the packs, raged at herself, saying that if it weren’t for her existence her brother would be alive and loved by all because he was the next genuine alpha.
Bloodstain only did not die as a cub thanks to the cimex moon Guila, who was the one who cared for her, Guila was the only one who remained in her lupine form to warm and protect the cub. The most difficult moment of this work was when the little one felt hungry. The genuine lunam refused to let Bloodstain suckle, the most she did, and even then, only because it was her companion’s order, was to express her milk and put it in a clay pot, the cimex moon who turned to not let the cub die.
Guila would dip a cotton cloth in the milk and put it in the little one’s mouth, several and several times, she had to do it her human form, but soon after she would return to her lupine form and snuggle the little one in her warm fur so that she would fall asleep peacefully.
The den of the genuine’s daughter was cold and not even slightly lit, there was no straw bed covered with bearskin, nor any less noble fur covering, there was only the cold floor to lie on, so as not to freeze to death she could only sleep in her lupine form, on the raw ground. And tonight would be no different, as she placed her hands to remove her battered and torn dress, her eardrums detected sounds of approaching footsteps. It was Guila, the one who cared about Bloodstain.
– You shouldn’t be here…
– I know – Guila answered in a low voice, she entered the young girl’s den and sat down on the floor beside her, the girl did the same – Here, be quick.
From inside the pocket of her dress, in better condition than Bloodstain’s, Guila took out a small piece of dried meat, it was the rest of the food intended for the human slaves. But that was better than letting the girl starve.
Bloodstain’s eyes glazed over, she had to control herself a lot to keep from drooling. With her eyes fixed on the small piece of dried meat Guila held in her hands, she lifted one of them and with fingers trembling from the anxiety of finally being able to eat something in days, the young girl took the small piece which she finished in one bite. It wasn’t enough to take away her hunger and her stomach growled for more, which squeezed Guila’s heart.
– Thank you so much, Guila. You always save me.
The bloodstain thanked her with her head down and a tear dripped from her eye, the b***d on her forehead still dripped and stung, but the outward pain didn’t even compare to three percent of the pain she felt inside.
– Why don’t you treat me like the others? I know that I shouldn’t have been born, that because of me my brother….
– Don’t talk nonsense girl, the goddess is never wrong, if this happened it was….
– What goddess are you talking about, Guila? – Bloodstain looked at her confused.
Talking about the moon goddess was a forbidden topic. Hardly anyone believed in her, and the genuine ones would even kill if they saw anyone thank or talk about the goddess.
– The moon goddess, thanks to her we exist, she is our absolute goddess, she is the one who dictates our destiny – Guila answered in a low voice.
– And why did she lower her voice so much when talking about this…?
– Your father doesn’t like us to talk about her.
– Why doesn’t he? – she asked, her eyebrows furrowed.
– You don’t have to know now, you just need to know that the Goddess has a purpose for you.
– Then why did she let my brother die? She made me be born only to be hated by everyone, what good is that, Guilla? Surely she doesn’t care about me.
– Stop this blasphemy, it’s not his fault you’re treated like this! The lycanthrope race has fallen into the path of evil. It has nothing to do with the wrong choices of our species.
– Then why Guilla? Because I was born… I don’t want to suffer like this – again tears falling from her eyes.
– In time the answers will come, child, one day, I am sure, the goddess’ plans will make sense. Until then don’t blaspheme anymore, and always ask her for protection. it’s only fair!
– I want to know more about her,” Bloodstain said as she wiped her eyes. His head was throbbing, the cut on his eyebrow was burning and bleeding.
– You’d better change, so you’ll heal this wound – Guila said gently, and so did the girl next to him on the floor.
She got up and took off her dress, she transformed, her lupine form was still that of a puppy, almost the size of the transformed Guila. This was further proof that Bloodstain seemed in no way weaker than a cimex luna, even if she was treated worse than one, the girl was a noble lycanthrope.
Bloodstain lay down next to Guila, who stroked her fluffy head.
Bloodstain’s fur, in Guila’s eyes, was beautiful, the white so white. Guila could see the beauty even in the small, round red spots scattered across the wolf pup’s back in her lap.
Already to the rest of the members, those spots represented her brother’s b***d. That’s why he was given that name. Translated from Latin, it means bloodstained.
– Sleep, my little one.
Guila spoke and took the child’s head out of her lap. Her heart ached every time she saw the pitiful situation in which the daughter of the genuine one was treated. The girl was deprived of any privilege, being treated worse than a servant. And it hurt so much to do nothing, that Guila’s heart bled every time her brain realized this reality. The most she could do was to watch and hope that the goddess would deliver her from the cruel fate that the poor girl’s father had prepared for her.
And the goddess was watching all the time, her judgment was already in training.
