Reyna wasn't afraid at all. She had been by Claire's side for seven or eight years and knew her boss's mood swings like the back of her hand. In this company, as long as you played along with Claire, you could get away with anything-even stepping on Mr. Connor's toes. "Oh, I'm shaking in my boots, Diana," Reyna sneered, "Just because you're a Gilbert family heiress, don't think everyone has to bow down to you. This is Sartori Corporation, not your family mansion."

"And you don't still think you're going to be the future princess, do you? Haven't you heard that Mr. Connor is already hitched, marriage certificate and all?"

"Plus, you're just a has-been now. Do you really think Mr. Connor would even give you a second glance?"

"Reyna, head to HR and hand in your resignation tomorrow."

A cold male voice sliced through the chatter from the back of the crowd. Everyone turned to see where it was coming from. And there stood Connor, not too far away.

A wave of surprise swept through the room. Instinctively, people stepped aside to make way for him.

Reyna's expression faltered slightly at the sight of Connor. "Mr. Connor, I was just joking around with Diana."

Connor shot her a frosty look. "Well, I'm not joking with you. Get out now. Expelled folks don't get to attend the Sartori Corporation's annual gala."

Panic spread across Reyna's face. She'd just wanted to cozy up to Claire by giving Diana a hard time. In a place this big, she hadn't expected Connor to catch her in the act. She glanced over at Claire for support, but Claire didn't look like she was about to step in.

Reyna knew she was nothing more

than a pawn to Claire, ready to be tossed aside anytime. With no backup, she had to defend herself "Mr. Connor, I honestly think I did the right thing. Diana isn't part of Sartori Corporation; she has no business being at the annual gala. I was just trying to convince her to leave."

Connor's voice was calm but firm. "Diana holds 5% of Sartori Corporation's shares, making her one of our largest shareholders. And you're telling me she doesn't belong here?"

Reyna was taken aback. Diana, a shareholder in Sartori Corporation? She looked over at Claire. "Vice President? Is this even true?"

It wasn't just Reyna; a few other execs were equally shocked. Claire, on the other hand, seemed in high spirits, acting as if she had no part in stirring the pot.

Claire chimed in, "Yes, Mr. Connor

initially owned 15% of Sartori Corporation's shares. Two months ago, he transferred 5% to Diana. So, he's not wrong. Diana is indeed one of our major shareholders now. This hasn't been publicized yet, so understandable you didn't know."

Reyna's face turned ashen. She'd met Diana before, and back then, Diana was just a naive, shy little heiress. With Mr. Connor's favor, people indulged her. But now, who would bother?

Yet, here she was, a major player at Sartori Corporation. Owning 5% of the company meant something significant. It meant she was a key shareholder, with voting rights on crucial decisions. It meant raking in at least billions annually from dividends. With money, power, and clout, Reyna was now trembling.
