The sweet melody of a violin floated through the air. Connor wrapped his arms around Chloe's slender waist, took her hand, and together they waltzed across the floor. The lights cascaded down, making Chloe's starry dress shimmer and sway like a gentle dream under the night sky.

As people around them watched with envy, they joined the dance floor too. But even in the midst of the crowd, Chloe and Connor stood out, shining the brightest. To everyone watching, they were like the prince and princess of a fairy tale, living in the romantic and dreamlike world at the top of an ivory tower.

Diana watched from her wheelchair, her heart a storm of sorrow and anger. She had been a ballet dancer since she was a child and was once a core member of the Royal Ballet. A twist of fate had led her into the entertainment industry, where she shone brightly. Before her accident, she had just received an offer from a Hollywood director to tell the story of a Chinese girl transforming into a world-class ballet dancer. But now, everything was gone. Her life had been shattered, and she wished she had died in that car accident. But since she hadn't, she was determined to make those who wronged her pay-Claire, Chloe, Eve. She wouldn't let any of them off the hook.

As Chloe and Connor danced, Chloe couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching her. Turning her head, she spotted Pax again, a fleeting glimpse before he disappeared into the crowd. Chloe let out a sigh.

Connor asked, "Why the frown?" Still moving to the music, Chloe replied, "I'm just worried about you. With the shareholder meeting and the vote tomorrow, do you really have no hope?" Connor raised an eyebrow and said, "Not necessarily." Sensing there was more to the story, Chloe asked, "Have you already thought of a way to deal with it?" Connor shook his head, "I didn't expect Jeffrey to handle this through a shareholder vote. How could I have prepared for that?"

Worry etched itself back onto Chloe's face. Everyone had expected Jeffrey to announce the successor directly. Public opinion leaned towards Connor, partly due to the stereotype that the son would naturally inherit, especially since Connor was Jeffrey's long-awaited child. Plus, while Claire's Eldridge Entertainment stocks were taking a nosedive amidst scandals, Connor's CNR was emerging as a dark horse, a standout in the stock market. At this crucial moment, it seemed likely that Jeffrey would choose Mr. Connor.

But to everyone's surprise, the decision was left to a shareholder vote. Claire had been with the company since she was seventeen, her influence deeply rooted, her connections with the shareholders strong. This election seemed almost like a done deal. Though worried, Chloe knew she could only leave it to fate.

When the dance ended, Chloe felt a pang of hunger and headed to the buffet area. Connor stayed behind, chatting with some company executives, knowing this was his last shot at winning over some support, however slim the chances were. Chloe casually picked up a piece of caramel pudding. Just as she was about to take a bite, she spotted the white figure again, not far off on the other side of the dessert table.

This time, she didn't hesitate. She walked briskly towards him. Pax saw Chloe coming and turned to leave, but she managed to corner him at the end of the dessert table. "Pax, playing cat and mouse, are we?" Chloe said, crossing her arms as she stood in front of him.
