Draconess
Vol.2 Chapter 19

“Is this a special occasion, Keeper of mine?” I murmur, sultry while on Zarcar’s lap, upon my Moon Tower rooftop. I’m sitting on his thighs, my arms wound around his neck with my tongue licking up his jaw, after kissing him softly and nibbling at his skin, too. I’ve left little love bites while the moon is bathing us both with power.

Zarcar has his arms wound around my middle, his chin on my head as I caress his neck with my lips. He is now dressed in a powerful royal suit, all black. He wanted to show me this look – and it reminds me of Rey’s Kingly attire, but with black ruffles instead of white.

I enjoy seeing Zarcar dressed up to impress. His brown locks shine and fall down his back, while some fall in front to frame his face.

“Indeed,” Zarcar murmurs, gently holding my chin and making me face the crescent moon. His second hand picks up my wrist and holds my fingers to the silver rays. I’m confused why he’s doing this – but he explains by pressing his lips to my ear, “I’ll teach you something forbidden… shall I?”

Yes,” I whisper it on impulse.

“I’ve never told anyone how I gained control of the clouds and the friction in the sky, it’s all about the heat and the cool, fighting for superiority. With enough friction, I control a web of lightning on the battle field. I’m formidable in my own right. I wish to show you,” Zarcar pauses, and waits for my sassy response. I don’t chuckle, I don’t have a come back, instead I’m curiously silent. He takes it as a confident reason to respond, “…mea est enim caelum… mea est enim caelum…” he waits for me to repeat it.

“One more time, please,” I whisper, wanting to get it right.

“It’s a masculine power, I doubt anything will happen,” Zarcar murmurs his truth, then repeats his unique spell, “…mea est enim caelum…”

I repeat it, “…mea est enim caelum…” 3 times I say it, while holding my palm towards my major power source.

With each chant, I feel that my hand turns damp with wetness in the air – but nothing happens… until I look down, and from below… a fog is rising swiftly. Zarcar hasn’t noticed yet – until the fog gushes up and condenses around us quickly.

It’s so sudden and quick.

I smile, waving my hand through the water evaporated in the air.

“…you summoned steam made from Hellfire,” Zarcar whispers, sucking in a rattled breath.

I wonder what’s wrong with him, until I turn around and I see the steam pouring into his nostrils and his mouth – rushing in so fast he starts to go white.

“Zar!” I quickly jump from his lap, going behind him, I drag him from the ledge to lay him down. I release my easy hold on the magic and the fog disperses quickly, while I lean down over his pale body, “Are you okay?!” I yell it at him, even though he’s right here, able to hear. Zarcar chokes and gasps on a few breaths, then finally coughs dramatically, hitting his chest before he rises back up – so fast I myself, choke on a sob, “My Moon, I thought you stopped breathing!” I gasp, leaning into his side and holding his arm to me in desperation, “Zar… tell me… are you okay? Are you back to normal health?”

“Yes, Chyronex,” Zarcar gulps, clearing his throat, before explaining, “I nearly choked to death, but it’s okay, I’m fine. You’ve grown exponentially more powerful,” Zarcar speaks up to the sky, his brows furrowed while I thread my fingers through his and squeeze his hand with mine, “…the fact you summoned any kind of weather event at all has astounded me… I wasn’t sure you’d be able to do it…”

“I am very smart,” I murmur, still upset from what just happened, “But maybe not just then, when you couldn’t breathe. I didn’t mean to make it an attack on you.”

“I think I’ve underestimated your power, darling,” Zarcar slides an arm around my waist and hoists me up as he stands with me, confident now, only coughing quietly once he is up upon his boots, “I don’t know how to process that, in truth… impossible,” Zar finally glances at me as I stand in his front and stare up into his demonic eyes with my palms on his chest, my mouth curling to a small smile.

“Be quiet, you fool. What am I going to do without you?” I ask, raising my hands to hold his cheeks, with both palms, “…you’re my Warlord… my chosen Mystifyer… most powerful and prideful mate… tell me, truthfully, are you alright? Don’t lie to impress. I need to know I didn’t hurt you.”

“…a little dizzy…” Zarcar murmurs eventually, closing his eyes, “Nothing to worry about,” I nod and he continues, “Why are you so concerned about my health? You care for me now?”

“Oh, shush. How else does a lover show love?” I smirk and hold him tight, feeling content when he also hugs me close.

As we embrace on the rooftop, we eventually sway slowly with the wind. I melt into his chest, wishing I could become one with him.

It is the most relaxed and slow we’ve ever been with one another.

It’s nice and it’s private.

Just Zarcar and I.

I also enjoy that he feels confident enough to show me his forbidden spells, apparently masculine.

“…I’m curious after that… tell me about your childhood, sweetheart…” Zarcar murmurs, out of the blue, while we’re embracing.

“Abandoned, like most Draconess children in the forest at age 4 – I lived alone, thinking I was a Moon Priestess, by eating tree bark and bugs to survive, then eventually I started hunting, and learning simple spells through the forest. Luckily I was in a bountiful safe part of nature. When I was 12, I found Swendula and the Moon Tower when I decided to learn more about others, by being around mortals too. I was so scared at first… but naturally I am not scared of anything…”

Zarcar chuckles, “Tell me more about that,” Zarcar is genuinely interested and I’m so happy he is.

Aside from being slightly startled by his kindness, I note it is the first time he’s asked about me, properly, and my past.

Zarcar cares… and he wonders things beyond my immediate use… it is hard to comprehend.

A change from selfish desire from a powerful sorcerer and demon, is rather sweet.

I can’t wait to tell Zar more, because I have so many tales to tell!
