Maddie
Scrolling through my phone, I flick through picture after picture of Eric and me together. It’s time to call and see if my love is finally available after digesting waking up where he rightfully belongs, between my legs.
Listening to the phone ring, my nerves fizzle in excitement with lude thoughts of our next interaction. Mmmmm, the thought of him gets my juices flowing.
“Hello?” His voice sounds groggy.
“Were you sleeping, baby?”
“What?”
“Did I interrupt your sleep?”
“Why are you calling?”
I can hear shifting in the background. “I missed you.”
“Missed me?”
“Yes, baby.”
“Maddy, we are no longer involved. Stop Calling!”
“What do you mean? Shelly’s out of the way. We have nothing holding us back now. We can finally be together,” my voice heightens in jubilation.
“Are you delusional?” His voice was gruff and harsh.
“You said you loved me a week ago.”
“Are you insane, Maddy? I was drunk and out of my mind missing Shelly.”
Hearing those words stabbed my heart.
“Eric, please.” I pleaded with him, begging for his continued attention.
“Listen, Maddy, and listen well. Shelly is going through a tough time, and I will be there for her, which means you need to stop calling me. Right now.” The dominance in his voice spikes my insatiable need for him.
“What do you mean she’s having a hard time?” What is her hard time? I thought she would be gone by now.
“Fuck! It doesn’t matter, Maddy, but I’m here by her side, and I’m not going anywhere. Especially not to you.”
My heart beats wildly in my chest. “Eric, no, we can–”
“Maddy, stop!” His voice raised multiple tones.
“I’m in love with Shelly. That’s it, the end.” The finality in his voice cut through me.
My anger flares. “That’s not it, Eric! You said you love me! You say it EVERY TIME WE HAVE SEX!”
“You’ve got to be fucking joking. I only said that because you said it helps you cum when we’re fucking. That’s it. There is no meaning behind it. I’ve never meant it, Maddy. It’s just words to get you to cum; that’s it, nothing more.”
My head starts to swirl. How can he say this to me? He said he loved me multiple times. I have it on video. No! He loves me. I know he does. He wouldn’t be capable of saying it repeatedly if he didn’t.
“Eric, please, I Love You–”
“Maddy, stop! You don’t love me. You just love the times that we fucked. And last week was the hugest mistake of my life.”
“No, Eric, don’t say that, please.” My chest ached from his vicious words.
“Maddy, you need to come back to Earth. I’m with Shelly, and this is where I’m staying.”
“Eric, no, please, baby. We belong together.”
“We don’t belong together, Maddy. Last week was a huge mistake. And one I will never make again. Do you understand? We’re done! There is no more us! I will never see you again!”
“Are you fucking kidding me!” I hear Shelly’s voice through the receiver. My blood boils. He’s with her. Why the hell is he with her?
That’s it! It’s time to make a drastic change! I will make sure you no longer crave Shelly’s presence. I will do everything in my power to ensure you’re mine, Eric. You’ll see. You will be mine, Eric.” I slam the red button on my phone, slamming the phone on the bed, releasing my anger in octaves I’ve never reached before.
Shelly
“Are you fucking kidding me!”
“Shell, let me explain.” His eyes grew wide, fear oozed from the edges.
“Explain! Explain! Just get the fuck out!” My right arm veers in the direction of the door.
“Baby, please.” He pleads with me.
“Don’t you fucking baby me!”
“Come on.”
“Come on? GET OUT, ERIC!”
“Shell, after last night, I thought–”
“After last night? What about it?” My eyebrows met in the middle.
“We were together,” his voice became low and hushed.
“SO WHAT! What are we? In high school?”
“What do you mean, so what, Shell?”
“WE FUCKED! THAT’S IT! I NEEDED DICK, AND YOU WERE THERE!”
“What– how could you–”
“How could I what–fuck you?” I flung my arms in the air. “How could you? Didn’t you say fucking her was nothing?” I pointed dead at his face. “THIS IS THE SAME SHIT! IT MEANT NOTHING, ERIC, NOTHING! IT WAS JUST A FUCK!”
“Shelly–” His hands meet as if praying.
“Eric, grow some fucking balls. I needed to feel anything other than pain last night. If the fucking delivery boy had come by, I would have fucked his brains out. IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU. YOU WERE JUST A DICK TO FUCK. YOU SERVED YOUR PURPOSE; NOW LEAVE.” My enraged body went rigid, pointing towards the door.
Unable to move, he gazes at me as if his stance will change the circumstances.
This needs to end. “Get the fuck out and take whatever you need with you. I don’t want to see your fucking repulsive face again.” The harshness in my voice is heard echoing in the halls. Fumes rise from my ears; my blood is set ablaze at his inability to understand a one-night stand.
“Shell.” His voice cracks, a tear slides down his cheek.
As if I give a flying fuck that he’s hurt at the moment. “No, only those who ACTUALLY love me can call me that.” I’m unmoved by his antics.
“How can you say that to me?” Tears began to spill over, moistening both his cheeks.
“Just as easily as you could have that whore call you ‘Master.’ Now, get the hell out of my sight, and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.” I stomp towards him with the full intention of shoving him out the door, but instead, I smack him with full force across the face, causing him to stumble back from the power of my hand landing on his cheek.
“Baby, please.” He implores my sensitivity while cradling his face. As if I give a damn!
“Go to the whore doctor and call her baby.” I shoved him out the door.
“Shelly, please.” He blares into the air.
“Eric, get the fuck away from me. Take a long walk off a short bridge!” I slam the door in his face with such strength the painting vibrates on the walls.
He continues to thump on the front door, petitioning for my empathy. I have none left for the asshole who took advantage of the trust and broke my heart. What the fuck did I do? Why was I so fucking stupid last night?
I should have called the delivery boy and fucked him instead. It would have been less torment. I shake my head at my stupidity.
I come to realize I can’t live here anymore. I need to replace a place as soon as possible.
In the distance, the music on my phone drifts in the air. Hustling down the hall, I soar in the air, lay across the bed, grab my phone, swiping left to answer.
“Shell?”
“Hey, Chlo.”
“I wanted to make sure you’re okay. I’m worried about you.”
The edges of my lips tug. “I’ve been better.” My voice descended, as did my hand on my face.
“It’s understandable, Shell. It’s hard.”
“You have no idea, Chlo.”
Silence grew between us when it suddenly hit me. “Chlo, I’m so sorry; I didn’t mean–”
“No, it’s okay.” Her voice crescendoed.
“No, Chloe. I fucked up last night.”
“What do you mean?”
“Let’s just say I need to move out of Eric’s house immediately.”
“Move in with me? It would be just like old times.”
I blink at rapid speed. “Yeah, Chlo, that sounds amazing! I’d love to. Can we do it today?”
“Of course, I’ll be right over.”
Hanging up the phone, I feel a weight has been lifted off my chest. Finally, I’ll be out of this fucking place. I scan the bedroom. This was supposed to be a happy place where we were supposed to live happily ever after, and now it’s just a dark room filled with sadness I’ll be walking away from today.
Exhaling a loud breath, I gather my clothing, dress, and pack for the second time this year.
