Fall For “My Husband’s Uncle” By Janet Macadam -
Chapter 89
Chapter 89
Hearing this, Edith felt wronged. She was already on the verge of collapse, but he suddenly rushed in, which startled her. Otherwise, would she have fallen into the bathtub and drank the bath water?
But…
That wasn’t the point!
She curled up into a ball and folded her arms in front of her. She looked at him awkwardly with her eyes wide open.
“Why… why did you come in here?”
“It’s not like I haven’t seen you naked before,” he snapped. He was in a horrible mood.
What happened earlier was different. You’re so inappropriate… Don’t look this way…”
Her voice was anxious, and she was on the verge of bursting into tears.
Carlos knew she was shy, and it wasn’t appropriate for him to be here, so he simply turned around.
“I’ll carry you back to bed first, or you’ll freeze”
“Why do you want to do that? Carlos, I’m your niece–in–law…”
Carlos cut her off. His voice was terrifyingly stern as he said, “I can call Simon right now and take you from him.”
When Edith heard this, she wanted to retort, but nothing came out of her mouth. She curled up in the bathtub in a daze.
He frowned and looked back when he didn’t get her reply after a long time.
Her eyes became dim and sad, and tears welled up in her red eyes.
She squatted in the bathtub awkwardly with her arms around her knees to cover her naked body.
She looked fragile.
She lowered her eyes and said sadly, “Are vulnerable people like me a commodity in your eyes? The Lawson family saw me as an expensive vase. All I have is a title, so you and your nephew can take me back and forth at will, right? I even wonder if the Lawson family sees me as a real person. I have no right to speak and can’t meet my husband or mother–in–law. I’m in an empty house all day long…”
She slowly raised her head and looked at him with tears in her eyes. Her tears felt like a dagger in his chest.
She slowly opened her pale lips and asked, “What am I to you?”
She slowly said each word in a calm and sorrowful manner.
The familiar eyes lacked liveliness and vitality. She looked like a puppet.
Carlos wondered if she was still the girl he knew.
“Is she the whimsical, dauntless Edith I used to know?”
He pursed his lips and wanted to explain, but after thinking for a long time, he couldn’t replace an excuse.
They existed in social classes. It was understandable for him to say something like that, and it was reasonable for her to have such a reaction.
They were just not on the same level.
He didn’t say anything. As noble and arrogant as he was, he wasn’t used to apologizing to others, let alone a young woman.
He bent down and picked her up. She closed her eyes in despair. This time, she didn’t resist.
Anyway, she had no right to say anything. Simon and Carlos probably didn’t care which one she slept with. People like them. only needed to wave their hands slightly, and many girls would throw themselves into their arms. Her virginity might not be worth a penny in their eyes.
“Then what am I struggling for? I can’t escape from this cage anyway.”
She was placed on the sofa. Carlos wiped the water off her body and put her on the big soft bed.
Although she looked calm, she was still filled with fear. She clenched her hands tightly in front of her, which had already. revealed how uneasy she was.
She waited a long time, but Carlos didn’t act further. Instead, he spoke to her.
