Fall For “My Husband’s Uncle” By Janet Macadam -
Chapter 93
Chapter 93
“I never do business that loses money. You’re a trophy that my family got at high costs. What’s the difference between having you in my place and in Simon’s? Besides, he’s not interested in you at all. Why can’t I make use of you?”
“Huh?” Hearing this, Edith was completely confused. That was to say, he was going to recycle her for the sake of the 200 million dollars.
“Come on, this is marriage! Can you not be so stingy?” she thought.
He could lose billions of dollars in a poker game and wouldn’t even frown, but he had come up with such crazy ideas just for 200 million dollars!
“Are you a profiteer?” Edith asked in a trembling and aggrieved voice.
“Yes, I’m after all kinds of profits.” Carlos raised his eyebrows and said jokingly. He finally found a reasonable explanation.
When Edith heard this, she wanted to cry. She felt as if she had been kicked around like a ball..
The Meyer family had given her away to Simon, who didn’t want her. She didn’t expect Carlos to suddenly show interest in
her.
“Excuse me, am I good–looking?” she plucked up the courage and asked Carlos.
“Compared to the women around me, you don’t stand out as particularly pretty, but you’re on the good–looking side, and there’s something about you that makes people feel comfortable.”
“Then… how is my family background?”
“Just so–so.”
Hearing this, Edith flew into a rage like an angry kitten.
“Then what do you want? I’m not particularly pretty, and the Meyer family isn’t exactly an influential force. Why do you want me?”
“Because you’re a losing deal. As a profiteer, I want to extract every penny from you so that you can serve the Lawson family for the rest of your life, Carlos said with a smirk.
When she saw the wicked smile, she trembled all over.
“What a scary man!
“He’s so scary!
“Even if I’m a money–losing business, he doesn’t have to put in so much effort!”
She took a deep breath and said cautiously, “I don’t deserve you.”
“Well, that’s true, but it doesn’t matter. I can tolerate you.”
He replied with contempt. The first half of his sentence almost drove Edith mad.
Although he was telling the truth, couldn’t he be more tactful?
“Stop it. If I don’t hear the word divorce from Simon in person, I won’t have anything to do with you. I can’t betray my husband. I don’t care how he flirts outside. I have to abide by my duty. I can’t go against my conscience.”
“If Simon doesn’t want you anymore, you’ll come to me. Is that it?” His burning gaze landed on her, making her feel extremely guilty.
Her eyes darted around and she didn’t know how to answer.
Of course, she would never become his woman
If Simon agreed to the divorce, she would book a ticket immediately and fly back as soon as possible to get away from this troublesome place.
Carlos was a smart person. When he saw the glint in Edith’s eyes, he immediately understood she was up to something and wanted to use him.
It seemed he still needed to use Simon to keep her around for a while. He would carry out his plan when the time was right.
“Don’t even think about it. You’ll be mine sooner or later, and you have to be mentally prepared for that. Hurry up and pull off the blanket. I’ll apply the medicine for you,” he knocked on her head rudely and said impatiently.
“No!”
“Do you still want your legs?” Carlos narrowed his eyes and threatened in a cold voice.
“No, it’s too embarrassing!” She still firmly defended her self–esteem because Carlos had just laughed at her Little Pony.
“It’s so cute! He doesn’t know how to appreciate it!”
