Chapter 93

Cora's POV

This week has flown by, and I picked up two new accounts and I was really excited about the challenge they provided me. I had met with them, and they were surprised that I was still working being pregnant with twins, but I am getting around really well, so I want to continue to work as long as I can. I am so glad that I can still work from home, and I may still ask to do it even after the Maddie thing is settled. It would save me on daycare expenses, and Marlowe could watch them when I have lunch with my clients for work. Last night, Ava and I dropped off all the food and drinks for the fish fry tonight at 5. Ava is really taken with Jacob, and he replaces her just as intriguing. I signed 5 more issues of our Vogue issue at the firehouse. They were all excited that we were coming to visit them, with Ava blushing and signing the copies as well. She got a lot of compliments too, and Jacob was proudly showing her off to his team members.

I had made my hair appointment earlier so I could be Franco's first customer today, so I got that done and my hair looked great. He had done a few lighter colors as it is Spring now and everyone was getting a little lighter. Mateo and Ella's wedding is next Saturday, so I needed to get it done. Thankfully, the guys said that they would get us ready and then they would go get ready after us while we got dressed. So, I already knew that we were going to look beautiful for the wedding. I am going shopping with Marlowe, Ava, and Thomas to look at strollers today. Thomas had driven us over there and would take us to the fish fry after we were done. Marlowe knew we needed to be done at 4 pm, as Ava said her mom would need a "reminder" before she got through. I know that I will need a double stroller and car seats for the babies to ride home in. Those are my main concerns. I have done my research and I know what got the best safety ratings, so that is what I am going to go with. Marlowe is just excited as she wants to get them everything, she is over the moon excited, and the babies haven't even arrived yet. She makes me smile about how excited she is over the twins. Marlowe is driving the Tahoe today as she said she needed to pull out the "big guns" for shopping. I am quite sure that the back of the SUV will be full by the time we are done. Marlowe is ready for a full-on shopping trip and not playing. I hope we are not here all day.

We hit the baby superstore first and got the stroller and the car seats. A few other necessities and pack the truck up and head for the mall. They have a baby and children's clothing store there and I know I am going to have to keep Marlowe from spending $1000 there. They won't be small for long. It would be better to wait until they are bigger to get them real clothes. They just need onesies, pants, and socks and like 3 nicer outfits for them when they go out, but no more than 6 nice outfits. I already knew that it was going to be so hard to keep Marlowe from buying the store out. I do plan on them coming to the pre-fall show with me at the end of July. They should be anywhere from 2 to 2 and a half months then, and I should be back to my normal weight and not miss a fashion show. The babies can be with Marlowe and my mom for the show, while I am working.

I was lost in thought thinking about the babies when I heard Maddie's annoying voice ring out, "What the hell are you doing here?".

Thomas stepped in front of me, and Ava did too. Marlowe walked around us and said, "You can just keep walking, Maddie. No one here wants to talk to you, so you can just keep moving".

"I just want to know why Cora keeps trying to get with my Fiancé?" Maddie said in a much louder tone to get attention.

"I am not even around him, Maddie. I am not with him or trying to get with him. I just want to be left alone", I told her and started to move with the group around her. Ava opened up her phone and started to video Maddie, which made Maddie even madder, but a video protects you more than pictures do.

"Are you scared of me, Ava? Or is Cora scared of me?" Maddie asked us as she moved closer, following us.

"Cora is 6 and a half months pregnant, Maddie. No one here wants to fight with you. You are just being difficult, for no reason. We have asked you to leave us alone and when we try to walk away from you, you are following her. I am just recording as her lawyer is still getting the original lawsuit ready and it can be added to, especially if you touch Cora. She was pregnant when you siced the reporters on her, and if something happens to those babies, you will go to jail, Maddie. I guarantee it" Ave told her, and Maddie moved back from us and looked around at the group of people now standing around us, with some of them filming the scene as well.

"I just don't like her chasing after my fiance, Ava. Cora is a slut and needs to stay away from Collin" Maddie yelled out for the cameras filming. There were several gasps and then the people in the group around us looked over at me. One of the women threw her stainless-steel cup at me and hit me in my upper arm and my breast, right near my armpit, and yelled out "Slut". I was soaked from the drink hitting me as it hit me hard enough for the lid to come off, but at least it didn't hit me in my stomach. Maddie took off and quickly left the area. Thomas had collected me to him and was calling out for Security, while Ava got a video of the lady that hit me with her drink. Ava then went over to her and told her she was backing the wrong person, as Maddie was the "slut" in this equation. The lady looked embarrassed when she saw that I was pregnant. She apparently didn't notice it before she threw the cup at me and took off when she saw Security coming in our direction. Ava followed her and got her tag on her car, because she had assaulted me with the metal drinking cup, and it would help to replace out who she was. I asked Thomas to take me where I could sit down as I had been walking a lot today and I was tired and needed to rest for a minute. Three members of security asked us what happened, while the third officer left us after we told him what happened, to go and check the surveillance feed. Thomas had called after him and told him we needed a copy for our attorney, as the woman in question that started it was already being sued by Cora, and we were adding this to it.

Marlowe handed me the phone and I said, "Hello?".

"Thank God you are alright Cora. Mom called and told me what happened. We will deal with Maddie. I will see if there is a video of it. She will pay for you getting assaulted. She had gone to the mall to get a pair of shoes. I had no idea you were out shopping too. I am sorry, baby. I love you. Do you need to go to the doctor?" Collin said.

"No, I am OK, the woman's aim was off. At least I think that it was. She may have been aiming at my face, she did seem surprised that I was pregnant. Maddie incited the group of people around us by telling them that I was chasing after her fiancé. Some of the women got very upset about it. But I am fine. Thomas has already asked for a copy of the video. I will give our copy to Livi. She can always burn you a copy of it for Nicolas." I told Collin.

"Maybe you should just wait with Thomas, while mom and Ava finish shopping?" Collin asks me.

"Well, I was going to try to slow your mom down, she is so excited about shopping for the babies. I am worried if I leave them alone, that they will really overspend there. They don't need a ton of stuff from what I have read, they go through more onesies than anything else. But I already got their car seats and stroller. I needed the car seats to be able to get them home from the hospital with them", I told him.

"Yes, I will give you my gift for you before the babies get here so you can get used to it. I was going to go get it at the end of May, or the beginning of June for you", Collin told me.

"No, Collin. I don't need anything else. You already paid off my student debt and I was already working on paying you back for that, so don't spend more on me. I cannot afford to pay you back with the babies coming. I am good, I don't need anything else", I told him.

"No, I paid your student loans off to help you, not for you to pay me back. Please don't pay me back. Plus, I need you to be able to get around and take the babies to their doctor's appointments and on errands safely. I just need to know your favorite vehicle color because I have already picked out a safe vehicle. You need to have your own car", Collin told me.

"No, I was going to take the babies home in my mom's car. I was going to install the seats soon. I can sit between their seats on the way home. It is fine. I don't need a car", I told Collin.

"What about when one of the babies is sick and your mom and dad are at the doctor's office? Or if an emergency comes? I want you to be able to do what you need to for the babies, and you, to be OK. I can't be with you to help as a normal father would. I work a lot of long days and I would be so upset if you needed to go to the doctor's office and you couldn't get there. Please, just let me do this for you. I will even take care of the insurance on it. All you will have to do is gas and maintenance on it" Collin tells me. "We can talk about this later, Collin, if I need to, I can get us a vehicle. I do have a job that I do very well at. I guess I can take some of the bonus I got from Gabriel to get a vehicle and then split the rest of it for their college savings account. You do make some great points. I will really think about it", I told Collin.

"Let me know if you start feeling ill or hurt after Maddie's scene at the mall. I can meet you in the emergency room if I need to, to hell with Maddie, she cannot hurt my babies and think that she will get away with it. Cora, I love you and the babies, and I will lose business and everything to keep you three from getting hurt. I am past sick of her, and just want this to be over with now", Collin told me. I wish it were over too. Maddie is a master manipulator, and I hope to never have to deal with her again, especially in a public forum.
