Chapter 94

Cora's

POV

The fish fry was a great time. We all sat around in chairs on the front parking pad, and they had two fryers going at the same time. One for fish and the other for fries and hushpuppies. That way, the food was done rather quickly, and both the fish and sides were still hot when you got them. Everything was delicious and they had made cookies for dessert, three different kinds. I saw Ava having a great time with Jacob and their chairs were a little ways off from the group and they were speaking quietly. They make me smile, watching them together.

"What is it like to model Cora?" one of the female officers at the firehouse asked me.

"Well, it was really scary at first. I was terrified that I would slip and fall in front of everyone, but so far that hasn't happened, yet. I was going to get tickets set aside for you for the next show if you would like to come. It is pretty cool to watch. It seemed like it moved slowly on the runway, but behind the scenes, there was a lot going on and I had to run from one side to the other to get my next outfit on. With the babies getting so big, I don't know how it is going to look actually", I told her.

"Well, you look fabulous, and I am sure the baby weight will drop off quickly. I would very much like to come. I cannot really afford the clothes, but I love them" she said to me.

"I couldn't either, so I traded Mateo. I would do some modeling for him, and in return, the clothes that he made for me, I could keep. It was a win/win for both of us. I cannot thank him enough for all he has done for me. I really love wearing the clothes that he designs, and I feel bold and strong when I wear them. Mateo is a great talent, and I am glad when he saw me, that he saw a vision that I didn't see. He knew way before I did, that I had hidden attributes that made me be successful in modeling for him. He is a good friend that helped me out when I needed it, and I will model for him forever if he needs me to do so. He even adjusted for me to still be able to model, even when pregnant, and for his fiancé as well. I will be sure to get you a spot saved for the next show. You look like you are very close to my size actually, well, before I got pregnant. If you want, I can let you have one of my outfits, probably one of the rompers, so it won't be too revealing for you to wear to the show. If anyone asks you who you are wearing, just say it is Mateo's. Publicity is always good. Actually, put your number in my phone. I am sorry, put your name and number on the phone. I met so many people tonight and I cannot remember your name", I told her.

"I understand, it is no problem, it is Anna, Anna Anderson. I am a size six 6, but with my chest, I usually go up to an 8, so it isn't so much "in your face" I know you know what I mean", Anna tells me.

"I do indeed, and I used to do it too. I have gotten over it these days", I told her.

"Well, you are stunning, so I could see how you would have gotten past it," Anna tells me and grins.

"You are as well, and I believe that they will have to give me fewer clothes for the next show. I will see if we have any free slots if you would like to give this a try yourself. You might love it, and I can see if Mateo would give you the same deal? You never know, it worked out for me. He and Ella are getting married next weekend and I will see him then. If he agrees, he can have you come in a measure or if he has something already made for me, it may very well fit you actually. We are like the same height too. The show is a little over a month away, on the 3rd Saturday of the month. If you can put in to be off, I can, at a minimum, give you an outfit to wear and get your hair and makeup done, if you can come in early with me that day", I told Anna. She is so excited that all she can do is nod excitedly at me. I asked her if she had a preference for the rompers and she said the burnt orange-colored romper. I thought it was odd, as that is a fall color, but with her dark, almost black, hair and blue eyes, she could probably pull it off and be able to wear it for years to come. I am partial to the green and the black ones, so that is a win for me.

"I remember that show, it is the one I got kicked out of, for calling out to you. It was still worth it. You were absolutely gorgeous in the last dress, the black lace number. I mean you were gorgeous in all of the outfits, but that dress....." Michael trailed off from what he was saying, leaving the words hanging in the air. Anna looked a little upset and excused herself from the group. I looked over at Adam and he leaned over and quietly said to me, "Anna and Michael went out a couple of times. She really liked him, but after he saw you, and remembered you from school. Well, he has a major crush on you, and he wants to date you now, instead of Anna".

"But I am pregnant, with twins. Clearly, I at least look like I am with someone", I told Adam in a low tone as I glanced over at Michael who is looking at me intently.

"It doesn't matter, he is now fixated on you, as his dream girl. Anna is a little jealous. I thought she was going to give you a hard time, but you are so easy to get along with. I guess she couldn't hate you, even though I bet she tried. She has got it bad for Michael, she just didn't act on it as quickly as she should have, she is kind of shy. It is not your fault you haven't done anything wrong at all. Maybe, if you can get her up on the runway to model as she really is built very similarly to you, maybe then he will realize that he already had his "perfect" woman all along", Adam says to me.

"That is an excellent idea, and I am going to pursue it. I bet when he sees her done up like me, he will fall immediately in love, or at least at her feet. I am giving Collin another chance. I want the babies to have their father, and I really love him. I warned him though, that he needed to get Maddie out of the way, and off to prison. He has a plan and is about to execute it, we just don't know how it will shake out yet. Collin is trying to get her focused on attacking him, and not me, she is unstable and explosive. Today at the mall we ran into Maddie, and she said some really ugly things to and about me, and a lady ended up throwing her stainless-steel cup at me. It actually really hurt when it hit me, and Maddie ran off. We were able to get a video of the whole thing. Ava chased the woman who threw the cup at me and got her tag when she drove off. Maddie is the one engaged so to an outsider, I am the one in the wrong, the "homewrecker". I just want this to be over with and done. It is so stressful for me, and I worry that someone will see a video out of context, and I could start to lose clients over this. Then how will I provide for my children?" I told him and he put his arm around me and gave me a side hug for comfort. Michael sat up in his seat on the other side of me and gave Adam a hard look, and Adam just shook his head and kept giving me a hug. Michael doesn't know the whole story, he is just infatuated with me. He will get over it soon.

I saw Anna over at the dessert table choosing a cookie, and she looked sad. I am going to have to help her win Michael back. I will see if Mateo has a dress that Anna can rock out there on the runway. I am absolutely positive that if she gets the dream team doing her hair and makeup like they do mine, she may look even better than me. I will speak to Mateo and Ella about this next weekend. I know it is their wedding weekend. But I know that since they found each other, they want everyone to be just as happy as they are. I am willing to bet that they had something for me that could be adjusted so that Michael could realize that his dream girl was closer than he ever thought. You know what, I am not waiting for next weekend. I wait for Anna to sneak a look back at Michael and take her picture and send it to a group chat with Mateo and Ella. I explained what was going on and reminded them that they probably needed a "filler" for at least two dresses, as with me being slower, due to the babies. It would be harder for me to change and get back out in a timely manner. Ella came back and said that there had been one dress that they had wanted me to wear, but it got shuffled back, due to my pregnancy. Ella said that between them they could do another dress, especially for Anna, and tweak the first dress to be able to be worn by Anna and that they believed that she would be gorgeous after Franco and Eric got her "runway ready". I had told them that I was going to let her have the burnt orange romper to wear there and back home, and that, hopefully, it would result in a date for Michael and Anna. They agreed and I shuffled over to Anna and told her that Mateo and Ella were going to let her walk the runway with two dresses. Anna screamed out loud and grabbed me in a hug. I told her, "One may have to be altered, depending on how close our sizes were together, and that one would be made especially for her". Anna was almost jumping up and down in happiness at what I had told her. I told her, "You are going to love Franco and Eric, as they are the ones who always make me beautiful. You are going to rock the runway. Don't tell any of the guys that you are doing this. I think it would be best if it were a surprise for the men when they saw her on the runway, and to be sure what we do, the curtain call for all the models and that she goes to the side where the men will be sitting and waiting for them to figure out that it is her up on the stage".

Anna gave me another hug, and I could see that she kind of knew where I was going with that. I smiled at her and said, "I am still giving you the romper. I will bring it by the weekend before the show. You can wear it there and after the show. I believe that you will have offers to take you out after the show, and the romper can be dressed up or down. You just need to hang with me, and we will come out together after the show, and if they haven't figured it out, that would do it, plus seeing you close up may be better to see their response anyway", I told her, and we laughed so hard together and some of the men started to look at us. I wished everyone a good night and thanked them for letting us come and eat with them. I reminded them that the next fashion show would be on the 3rd Saturday of May, so a month and a week away, and that I would reserve a total of 6 seats. I pulled Adam to the side and told him what the plan was going to be, and he said that Michael had already put in to have the day off so he could go to the show and that he was looking forward to watching the second show when Michael figured out that Anna was on the stage. Adam said that he would be sitting next to him to try to mess with him about mentioning how hot the new model was. Adam really cracks me up, he is so funny. I wish I knew someone to hook him up with. Thomas and I head for the SUV, and I can see Ava and Jacob on the side of the building locked in a kiss. Thomas honked the horn and we both started smiling really widely at her when she looked over at us and started blushing. Ava gave Jacob another quick kiss and ran over to get in the backseat. Ava smacked Thomas on his arm and said, "Dude, you embarrassed the hell out of me", but then sat back smiling all the way home.
