Roman's POV

Kai realising his Alpha command wouldn't help resolve this situation sent a mind link to every unmated male within the pack ordering them to stay clear of our location. The last thing we needed were more lust crazed wolves ready to fight for a chance to mate with Cleo. I didn't want to hurt the men, but if I had to I would. Not only was I possessive because she was my mate, but because I have Alpha blood it magnified that feeling. Had one man managed to get to her, I wouldn't be able to prevent my wolf from killing him.

"Kai do something" Cleo's voice for the first time was full of fear. Though I don't think it was fear for me, but for the men she knew I didn't want to harm. One thing I had learned about Cleo was that she was pure hearted. I may not have known her long, but I had come to know she wasn't the kind of woman to allow others to be hurt because of her. I knew she felt she failed her sister in that aspect and didn't want for anyone else to fall victim for something she felt she could prevent.

"All I can do is get you inside before your scent becomes stronger" grabbing her arm Kai tried to pull her inside the pack house where she would be safe, but she wasn't having any of it. Pulling away from Kai she stumbled hitting her head on the wall.

"Get off me I'm not going anywhere without Roman!" As I went to mind link Cleo telling her to go Carl's wolf attacked. Biting down onto my back leg I growled before turning and sinking my teeth into his shoulder. Whimpering he let go. 'CLEO GO' I shouted through the mind link. Forcing myself to turn my attention away from her I advanced on the two wolves. Balthazar was angry with me for upsetting our mate, but understood I did what needed to be done. 'GIVE UP' I ordered through the mind link to both Eric and Carl's wolves. Both whined as they tried to fight my command. Pain would course through them as my command tried to take hold. It was against their nature to disobey an alpha, but with lust temporarily controlling them, it wasn't working. All I could do without killing them was to hold them off long enough for Cleo to be locked away. For her scent to weaken. Then and only then would they back down. Even while losing blood Carl's wolf advanced before turning on Eric's wolf. Eric's wolf was quick to stop Carl's due to me having already injured him. If this didn't stop soon, he would slowly bleed out. As I went to attack, he rolled to the side attempting to get on my back. Quickly turning my head Balthazar grabbed him by the neck throwing my him to the ground. Eric's wolf tried to get up, but Balthazar growled forcing him back down, his teeth hovering inches above his neck. 'SUBMIT' I snarled through the mind link while leaning forwards to assert my dominance. Fighting between my order and wanting to attack me he snapped his teeth. 'SUBMIT' I growled again forcing the weight of my command. Eventually he shifted back baring his neck in submission. Growling at him I shifted back before running back to the pack house.

'May want to have a doctor go to your men.' Mind linking Kai I took the steps two at a time as I raced to my room.

'At least tell me you left them alive'

'I said to send a doctor, didn't I? Carl is bleeding out may want to hurry' Closing the link before he could respond I stopped outside of my door. Using my enhanced hearing I could hear Cleo crying from the other side. I hated being the one to upset her, it wasn't something I ever wanted to do. But I couldn't have her remain outside. More unmated wolves could have turned up meaning someone would have likely ended up dead.

Opening the door, I stepped into the room making sure to lock the door behind me. Getting onto the bed behind Cleo, I pulled her against my chest. I sighed as she rolled over her breathing evening out as she inhaled my scent. We laid there in blissful silence until she fell asleep. Cleo's POV

I awoke to replace the bed empty, Roman's scent was weak, so I knew he had been gone for a while. Going into the bathroom I looked between the shower and the bath. Deciding on having a bath I turned the taps before pouring in the scented salts. I couldn't explain it, but I felt different. I felt energised, alert and stronger than I had ever felt before. As I got into the bath the strong scent of coffee lingered in the air. Seconds later Roman entered the room kissing me on the top of the head as he paced the mug of coffee beside me.

"How do you feel this morning? Your head has healed." And good thing too. When I hit my head on the wall last night, I thought it would leave an ugly scar. When in heat a she-wolves ability to heal is slowed down dramatically. Yet for some reason my head healed within minutes of it happening.

"I know and I feel ok, I don't feel hot anymore though. Is it normal for my heat to end this early?" I wasn't sure whether I was asking Roman or myself that question. When I was younger my mum always told us that a she-wolfs heat would last anywhere between three and five days.

"Yeh your scent seems to have returned to normal. I wonder if it has anything to do with you being half demon. I've never known a heat to end this quick, not that I know much about it to begin with."

"Maybe, I do feel stronger and just different in general." Roman appeared to be deep in thought as he pondered the possibilities.

"I know I should have asked this earlier, but what did those demons want with you?" With my heat having arrived I had forgotten about them entirely and so had Roman. We had both just lost ourselves in the moment, then all the shit with the two wolves, I guess it skipped both our minds. Closing my eyes, I thought back to the cave picturing myself in the chains while the man held me still.

"Shh..." Hushing Roman I watched the events of last night play out in my mind just like it had before, only this time I found it easier. Though I'm sure it had something to do with the fact I had actually lived that moment and it wasn't just a fraction of someone else's memory.

"They took my blood. The woman said she needed to confirm I was his daughter."

"And did they?"

"Yes, and yes I am unfortunately his daughter." Worry crossed Roman's face for just a second before he once again hid his emotions. "Why would they need me though?"

"I'm not sure, but I think we should speak to Kaylee. She picked you out quick enough so I'm wondering if she knows more than she's telling." Agreeing I got out of the bath. Once dressed Roman and I made our way to the dining room in the hopes of getting the answers to at least some of the questions that were forming in my mind.

"Hey Cleo..." Daphne called out to me as we were about to go down the stairs. Roman had her moved to an empty room on our level so she would be closer to me. I had promised her that once my heat was over, we would have some sister time like we used to, but right now I had other things on my mind.

"Sorry Daph, can we catch up later?" Without waiting for her response, I caught up with Roman. I had always made time for my sister, but I needed to know what was going on. If the rumours about Hades... my father were true, then he was locked in the underworld. Which begged the question, why did they need me?

As we approached the dining room the sound of chatter and laughing slowly came to a stop. Everyone stopping wat they were doing to look at me as if I wasn't supposed to be here. Some pack members whispered to each other as others looked at me with disgust while shaking their heads. I wasn't sure if it was because they could sense what I was, or what I wasn't that had them judging me. Roman feeling my unease and frustration squeezed my hand as he led us down the centre of the room to a table where his family were seated. It took every ounce of strength I held not to turn and shout at those staring.

"Mum, dads this is Cleo. Cleo this is Hector, and this here is Axel. Looking up at the men I could see how Roman shared similarities between them. Roman's miss matched eyes holding one of his Hector's green and Axel's brow eyes. His facial features however resembled his mother. When Roman first told me he had two fathers my head spun. Like how the hell was that even possible? It wasn't until he actually explained that I kind of understood.

"Ignore my brothers rudeness, I'm Layla. It's nice to meet you" Layla pulled me in for a hug before sitting back in her seat and telling her children to stop staring. "That depends on what you want to know."

"When the demons took Cleo and her sister, they took her blood." Kaylee's face dropped, though a part of me wondered if she was just acting. "Kaylee?" Roman's brows furrowed as he took in her feared look. "Then that means he knows you exist. You're the key to his freedom. Your blood locked him away and only your blood can release him."

"How is my blood the key though? I haven't ever met him."

"When you were a baby, your mother could have taken some. By my timeline he was locked away almost a year after you were born. Did they take anything else?"

"No, I don't think so. Why?"

"Because your blood is only one ingredient. They will need the blood of your mate and the blood of your pup."
