Roman's POV

Cleo ran off after hearing what Kaylee had to say. Through the bond I knew Cleo didn't want to become a mum, not yet anyway. She had only just turned seventeen, found out her parents weren't who she had grown up to believe, and been kidnapped by demons. She had been through so much in such a little time. Balthazar howled in my head wanting me to run and comfort our mate, to tell her everything would be fine, but I knew right now she just wanted to be alone. "What else is needed for him to be free?" I needed to know everything. They had Cleo's blood already and would likely now come for me.

"I need to replace out to be sure, but if I remember correctly, they need a full moon. You will be their next target Roman you need to watch your back." Thanking her for the information, I went to look for Cleo. I had put her heat ending down to her being half demon, but now I wondered if it was because she had fallen pregnant.

I found Cleo in the garden of the pack house, she looked deep in thought as she paddled her feet in the children's paddling pool. Pulling a chair up beside her we just sat their enjoying the peace and quiet.

"I think we need to be sure Cleo." Sighing she turned to look at me.

"Roman my heat only ended last night, even if I was pregnant, it would be too early to tell." "And if I told you that our pack hospital had what they needed to check, would you let them?"

"I..."

"You don't want to be a mum?"

"I do, just not yet. I haven't had a chance to live my life. To explore all the places, I wanted to visit. I had my whole life planned out and this wasn't supposed to happen for a long time."

"I know your scared Cleo, but its not like this wasn't going to happen. We haven't exactly been careful the couple of times we have had sex. Unless the real reason your worried is that it isn't mine." And there it was. Cleo' real fear wasn't that she had fallen pregnant, but that she had fallen pregnant with that rogue I still had yet to deal with. "Cleo, I won't make you do anything you don't want. All I'm asking is that you come with me to the doctor and let them replace out." Cleo refusing to look at me nodded her head.

The entire car ride to the hospital Cleo held my hand tight like she was afraid I would leave. The truth of it was I wouldn't. Nothing in this or any world could drag me away from her. If the doctor confirmed the pup wasn't mine, I wouldn't love her or it any less. Sure I would be disappointed, but I'd get over it. As we pulled into the car park Cleo leaned over pulling me into a passionate kiss.

"Not that I'm complaining, but what was that for?" Each time she kissed me I couldn't help the smile that would form on my face.

"No reason." Turning away she unbuckled her seat belt and climbed out of the car. Taking a deep breathe I followed after her.

I hadn't stepped foot in the hospital since I was a little boy. Kai and I had gotten fighting and using my air element I threw him from the upstairs window. Mum and my dads were beyond pissed, abut luckily for me he only broke his leg. Walking through to the waiting room the place hadn't changed. Cleo sat in a chair in the far corner her eyes fixed on a young woman cradling her pup. Her mind was in utter turmoil. She didn't want to pregnant with another mans pup, but she also couldn't bring herself to make a decision regarding whether or not she would be able to keep it. All I knew was that I would support any decision she made.

"Miss Cleo Barton?" As she called her name both mine and Cleo's heartrates skyrocketed. I could hear hers just as I could hear my own. Following the doctor into a side room she smiled as she showed us where to sit. "So may I call you Cleo?" Cleo just nodded in response, the palms of her hands becoming sweaty as she clung to me. "I'm Dr. Holland that Moodlight Packs gynaecologist. Before we begin is there any questions you'd like to ask?" Cleo just shook her head giving the doctor the go ahead to carry on. "Right so from my understanding you're here to have a Qualitative hCG blood serum test, which is a simple blood test that will allow me to confirm whether or not chorionic gonadotropin is present in your blood stream. I want to double check your other request though. My nurse has told me you would like the DNA tested of the pup if a pregnancy is confirmed." Nodding to confirm our request she offered us a small smile before making note on her form. Both I and the doctor looked at Cleo who continued to sit their quietly who had yet to say a word. Slowly I was beginning to worry as before today she hadn't stopped talking.

"How long does it take to get the results?"

"Normally I would say to call the receptionist within the next forty-eight hours, but I shall do my best to get that back within twenty minutes." Thanking the doctor, she left the room to bring the items she would need. Squatting on the floor in front of Cleo, I too her hands in mine while gripping her chin so she was facing me.

"Everything will be ok Cleo. I'm right here with you and I'm not going anywhere."

"What if she says I am? It won't be yours Roman. I can't sit back and allow you to raise another mans pup. I wouldn't want you to." Tears ran down her cheeks as she spoke. It was clear she was terrified.

"I'm still here, aren't I?" Kissing her hands, I wiped her tears away. Cleo nodded before wrapping her arms around my neck. Slowly her heart rate evened out and by the time Dr.Holland came back, she had calmed down.

"Right so I can confirm that you are indeed pregnant Cleo and judging by the levels of hCG I would say you are around seven weeks pregnant." Looking to Cleo she burst out crying. This was what she feared the most. "I can also confirm that you Alpha Roman are in fact the pups father." And in that second, I swore I felt my heart stop. Cleo also hearing what the doctor said looked shocked.

"If I hazard a guess, I would say that Cleo's demon DNA is speeding the pregnancy along. Human pregnancies as you know last nine months, vampires roughly around the same as us lasting only six months. From what I know about demons, their pregnancies are usually even quicker. I wouldn't be surprised if you meet your pup in around five months' time. Congratulations both of you." It didn't make sense; how could the pregnancy have developed that quick when she was more wolf than demon. "What I would like to do with your permission, would be to do a sonogram. I will be able to give you more details by that. I can measure their size and check for any abnormalities."

"Do it." My eyes shot to Cleo. Her had stopped crying as she made her way to the bed in the corner of the room. Laying on her back she pulled her top up giving the doctor access to her stomach.

"If you tuck this tissue into your waistband, it will prevent the gel getting onto your clothes." I watched as Cleo's hands shook as she took the tissue. Walking to her side I held her hand my own palms becoming just as sweaty as hers. Our eyes remained locked on each other until the doctor said hello.

"So, at the moment its not very big as you can see, but that little flash there is a heartbeat." My eyes burned as I looked at the small screen. I had always wanted to have a family of my own. Watching my sister with her brood only made me want it more. Dr. Holland passed me tissue as tears fell from my eyes.

"I saw nothing." I nodded my thanks to the doctor who smiled just as Cleo chuckled.

"What? It's an emotional moment!" Dr. Holland handed me a picture of the scan before turning to continue. "I'm going to be a dad" my words no more than a whisper as Cleo took my hand.

"You're going to be a dad and this little jellybean is as lucky as I am to have you." In that moment my heart felt as though it would burst. Never in my wildest of dreams had I envisioned my mate accepting me out of fear of my reputation, let alone produce me a family. Balthazar stood tall and pride in my mind at the news he would be a father, and in that moment I swore I would fight to protect them both until my very last breath.
