Chapter 80

Chapter 30

This man assumed the role of a manager within the purchasing department, and his father held the position of a minor shareholder within the company. He had known James since childhood.

James was the unwavering and commanding president of the company.

And he was just an inconspicuous manager who unexpectedly caught sight of James seated in a Chevrolet Sail, without a driver.

Harlan Jonson initially believed that he must have been mistaken. He took a couple of steps closer and confirmed the astonishing truth that it was, indeed, his esteemed president.

Harlan was about to ask James why he drove such a car.

But he was interrupted by the voice of James from the car before he could utter a word.

Mr. Jonson, I’m James from the research and development department. Where might you be headed?

Harlan was not a fool, and after hearing what James had said, he immediately understood.

Casting another glance at the enchanting lady preparing to embark on the vehicle and then at the dilapidated car James was operating. Harlan knew what was going on at once.

Clearly, James was concealing his true identity to approach a lady.

Never before had Harlan witnessed James, a president of stature and authority, behave in such a manner with a lady. This occurrence could only be described as a surprising transformation, akin to an iron tree suddenly blossoming into vibrant

flowers.

However, Harlan had to admit that James was really good at chasing a girl.

Harlan then looked at the woman before him and couldn’t help but be amazed by Nadia’s extraordinary beauty.

Nadia was captivating even without the embellishments of makeup, and her physique and countenance rivaled those of renowned celebrities.

Mr. Howe, I have something to do, so I gotta go now. Let me buy you a drink sometime.

Swiftly departing. Harlan hastened in the direction of the Howe Group Building.

His calm expression hid his inward panic. While walking, he took out a tissue from his bag and kept wiping the sweat on his

forehead.

Fortunately, he reacted quickly just now and did not ruin James’s plan. Otherwise, any misstep just now could have potentially jeopardized his own employment, given Jamesreputed temper.

His eyes cast downward. Immersed in contemplation over what happened just now, Harlan advanced but inadvertently collided with an individual.

Upon lifting his gaze, he recognized the figure as Shawn Howe, who was the second youngest son of the Howe family.

Harlan possessed a rotund visage and ample girth, and Shawn staggered back a few paces due to the unexpected impact.

Flustered, Harlan quickly moved forward and apologized, Mr. Shawn, are you okay?

Harlan, what seems to be amiss with you today? One should always watch the way while walking.

Shawn said discontentedly.

I apologize, and next time, I shall ensure to hold my head high and keep a vigilant eye on the road.”

Of course, Harlan would never allow this to happen again.

Moments ago. Shawn ambled with a coffee cup in hand, poised to retreat to his office sanctuary. Abruptly, his James hastening out from the president’s office, appearing as though he was about to get off work.

gaze fell upon

A surge of curiosity enveloped Shawn. James never got off work at five o’clock, so why did he leave so early today?

Putting down his coffee, Shawn surreptitiously trailed James’s path.

As expected, Shawn found something unusual.

He found that James got into a Chevrolet Sail that his assistant had just driven over.

Subsequently, a comely lady disembarked from the taxi across the street, making her way toward the same Chevrolet Sail that James drove.

Every unfolding detail had been meticulously observed by Shawn

Shawn had heard from his mother that his grandma had unearthed a match for his elder brother, and he had never seen that girl before.

Chapter 80

Could it be this very lady?

With intentions to seek elucidation and extend greetings, he contemplated catching them up, only to be stopped by Harlan before him.

When he looked over there again, the Chevrolet Sail had stealthily slipped away.

Fortunately, he wasn’t the eldest son of the Howe family. Otherwise, he might have to be the one to marry the girl his grandma, Daisy, had chosen.

Just because she had rescued Daisy, and Daisy asked James to marry that girl.

Shawn felt a pang of sympathy for James.

However, rumor had it that James had concealed his real identity and was living outside while driving a dilapidated car just to test the girl’s nature.

It looked like James was truly determined to prove that his grandma was wrong.

Nadia barely settled into the vehicle when James, with an abrupt ferocity, engaged the accelerator, propelling them forward like a bullet unleashed from its chamber.

He did not want to stay here any longer because once he met someone who knew him again, he would have no idea how to explain.

Nadia was still reeling from the fact that the man named Harlan called James Mr. Howe..

The more she thought about it, the more strange she felt. She really didn’t understand why that man called him Mr. Howe respectfully.

Why did that man address you as Mr. Howe so respectfully?

It was not the first time she had heard someone call him Mr. Howe, and it happened once when they were at the hospital

before.

Expressionless. James kept a calm look.

Oh Your ears must have deceived you!

He wasn’t a fool. Even if she had indeed heard correctly, he couldn’t bring himself to confess to it.

He continued driving until he reached an intersection ahead. There, James skillfully navigated the steering wheel, bringing the car to a halt right at the edge of the corner’s curb.

The car came to a standstill, and at that very moment, James turned his gaze toward Nadia.

He looked her up and down, and without uttering a single word, he leaned over swiftly. As Nadia looked on, James’s striking visage loomed larger and larger before her eyes. A tight swallow accompanied her intense scrutiny of James’s flawless, slender lips. What is he doing? Is he going to have sex with me right here in this car?she thought.

Nadia felt that her decades of chastity were now hanging in the balance, even though the man beside her was her own husband.

Nadia’s heart raced, and a sensation akin to her heart leaping into her throat overcame her.

Almost unconsciously, she shut her eyes, clenched her fists, and gradually inclined herself toward the car’s rightside window.

Wasn’t this how such scenes unfolded in movies?

For almost half a minute, Nadia waited. Yet, she didn’t feel that James was going to make another move.

She cautiously opened her eyes, only to replace James retrieving the seatbelt beside her and assisting her in securing it. What are you thinking? When you enter a car, you should fasten your seatbelt first. Why didn’t you do that?James’s voice, gentle and magnetic, sounded above Nadia’s head.

An instant rush of crimson flushed Nadia’s cheeks, and she felt so embarrassed.

She wished she could hide beneath the vehicle and disappear out of his sight..

Nonetheless, James acted as though nothing out of the ordinary had happened, returning to his driver’s perch.

Have you considered a dining destination for our dinner?

Generally, he avoided dining out and instead preferred to have the meal at Kingsley Hotel.

He was a neat freak, so he dared not to eat outside, afraid that the outside food was not clean enough that might make him

have the trots.

I know of a place renowned for its exceptional cuisine. During my student days, it was a favored haunt of mine. It’s a mere halfhour’s drive from here. Shall we go there for dinner?

She attended the Kingsley Film Academy for her college education, and adjacent to it lay a charming snack street offering an array of delights.

May I have the address?”

Diagonally across from the Kingsley Film Academy.

Though James was inclined to decline, it was the first time that Nadia had extended a dinner invitation. Thus, he decided to accept her offer.

On the way, conversation between them was sparse. Nadia attempted to turn on the music in the car, aiming to alleviate the prevailing awkwardness.

Regrettably, no matter how she pressed the buttons, the car’s audio system seemed to bear a grudge against her and just didn’t work.

It abruptly ceased playback after a mere two notes.

Observing this, James furrowed his brows. It was true that he instructed Harold to secure a dilapidated car, but it indeed turned out to be so worn that even playing music proved beyond its capabilities.

Don’t trouble yourself. This speaker is probably not working. I’ll replace it one day.

James’s deep voice resonated.

Nadia complied with reluctance, quietly occupying the passenger seat and gazing out the window.

Half an hour later, James maneuvered the car to a roadside spot facing the snack street.

They got out of the car and walked towards the opposite snack street.

Nadia wanted to walk across the road promptly, yet she remained oblivious to an approaching vehicle speeding beside her. Swiftly noticing the potential danger as soon as he turned around, James instinctively pivoted with Nadia ensconced within

his arms.

It happened so fast that before Nadia could react, she found herself enveloped securely in Jamesembrace.

Why didn’t you watch out while crossing the street?

James reprimanded, his voice resounding firmly. At that very moment, he thought that Nadia would be struck by the car in

front of him.

His heart suddenly throbbed at that moment.

Am I in love with her already?he thought.
