Flirting With My Ex-husband -
Chapter 482
But the two of them both pretended not to know each other and made each other's acquaintance once again with Jepson as their introducer.
Scarlett, sitting on the side and watching, smiled and picked up the teapot from the table. "Mr. Wooden, would you please give this a try and see if my tea-making skill has improved?" After hearing her words, Vernon next to them had no choice but to withdraw his hand.
Jepson glanced at Scarlett. "Sure, sure! It's been four or five years since your graduation, but you guys never came back to see me or my old buddies until this day.
Merely sending us gifts hasn't done any good."
Jepson feigned displeasure, but he had a beaming smile on his face. He shifted his gaze to Raymond. "Mr. Shaw, that's no way to treat your principal or teacher. Am I right?"
Raymond swiveled his head aside to glance at Scarlett who was filtering tea leaves beside him. The look in his dark eyes flickered as he replied, "I think Scarlett has missed you guys, or she wouldn't have had presents delivered to you every year."
Jepson laughed, "Well, she was never a people person when in college. I don't blame her! I'd appreciate it if you and Justin would check on me as often as you can after I retire."
Scarlett got the tea ready and handed the first cup of it to Jepson. "Okay. I'll visit you and play chess with you after you retire."
Jepson liked playing chess as well, and he had been the one who taught Scarlett how to play chess, but he was like an old scalawag. He could be rather shameless when playing chess, for every time he was on the losing side, he always retracted his unwise moves.
Scarlett hadn't returned to Juanton University for years, but she was indeed grateful to Jepson for the help he'd offered her.
Her unwillingness to bring trouble to Juanton University had also been part of the reason why she had never come back until this day. Apart from anything else, the way things had ended back then was quite unpleasant.
The atmosphere in the reception room was nice and lovely, but the din from the hall outside was building up.
Jepson had not bargained for Raymond's attendance, so he had trouble making proper arrangements for the upcoming experience-sharing gathering. He didn't know where to put Raymond. The preparatory work outside had been finished, and it was almost time to get started. A teacher came to ask Jepson when he would like the gathering to begin.
Jepson looked at Raymond. "Mr. Shaw, since Scarlett and Justin were coming back, I arranged for them to share their experience at a gathering. Would you like to hear them out or stay here and chat with me?"
Raymond had come here solely because of Scarlett. "I'd like to hear what Scarlett and Justin have to say about their success as well. You don't have to give me any special treatment, Mr. Wooden. A seat for me in the hall would be enough."
Jepson, naturally, wanted to sit down below and watch the two outstanding alumni give an interview. Raymond's suggestion was exactly what he wanted to do. "Please come with me, Mr. Shaw." Jepson led Raymond to the part of the hall where seats meant for honored guests reposed. Scarlett and Justin were ushered to the dais by a teacher.
Scarlett was wearing a high waist white dress which looked simple, graceful but didn't appear to be too formal. Her long curly hair cascaded down her back. She was oozing a kind of allure of simplicity.
But the dais was rather far away, and most of the students down below actually couldn't see Scarlett's face clearly, but the instant she walked out from behind the stage, the sight of her snow-white limbs sent the college girls among the crowd into fevered excitement.
"Boohoo! That's my idol up there! My goodness! I would give anything to have legs like hers! They're so white, so slim and long!"
"Aargh! Her neck's so graceful! It's stunning! Her neck's so white, so slender and so straight! My goodness! How can someone have such dazzling temperament?!"
Scarlett had just seated herself when someone among the crowd down below yelled, "Scarlett! I'm a hard-core fan of yours!"
With that many others shouted, "Scarlett!
I'm your hard-core fan as well!!!"
"Scarlett! You're my idol!"
The event hadn't started yet, but the hall was already a seething cauldron of emotion.
