Ganersam Volume 2
Chapter 15

“Couldn’t you go yourself?”

“This is for you. Don’t you ever feel bad doing nothing while your friends are fighting for their lives?”

“I don’t remember you fighting for your life.”

“No wonder you never get a girlfriend, you useless shitty neet.”

“Hey, hey, that’s too far. I didn’t take you down here to be like her.”

She gave me her tongue for that comparison. Well, no one could defeat that useless goddess in being useless.

Traveling arc, or that would be what this part of the novel would usually be called, but considering this is the second time we traveled in a relatively short time, I wouldn’t call it like that, besides, we were not here for a vacation.

We walked down the peaceful streets of Kalagai. Unlike Alpha, the town was significantly more silent. It felt more like a village compared to an actual town. Red lanterns lit up the dark night streets, swaying around in the cold night breeze. We arrived just before sundown and took a short rest at the inn. The dark sky was covered by clouds, and the sound of thunder could be heard coming from above. I could only pray that we didn’t get stuck in the rain.

“So, where are we going?”

I asked as I followed Emma around.

“Just follow me. It’s around here, I think...”

She pointed toward a small alleyway. We branched off the main street and entered a small alleyway, only enough to fit a single car. Carriages here were a bit smaller compared to your normal family van, so even when a carriage passed by us, there was still a decent space to walk. We walked for another 5 minutes, before arriving at a three-way junction.

We took the path left to us and walked for another 3 minutes before arriving at our destination. We stopped in front of a small garden.

“I knew it was you.”

Said a figure who was waiting behind us. He was wearing a dark brown cloak, hiding behind the shadows of a nearby lamp pole.

“Ah, I always thought QR is some kind of codename.”

QR? As in QR in a QR code?

“I like the ring to it, so I kept it.”

The cloaked figure approached us and opened his hood. It was the same Qorsen from before. He shook hands with Emma and gave her a brown suitcase.

“The gun you ordered is in there. There’s a shooting range near the walls. You could go there tomorrow morning. They’ll probably appreciate some help.”

“Alright, thanks for the info.”

“I’ll be going back to the hangar to help with the upgrades. See you later.”

Emma waved toward Qorsen and the cloaked man disappeared back into the darkness.

“So... instead of giving me a tour of this wonderful town, you’ll drag me into a training arc.”

She replied with a large grin on her face and turned around.

“You didn’t want to be caught in the rain, did you?”

And with that cheeky remark, Emma took her steps and walked back toward the main street.

...

"Achoo!"

“Guess someone’s staying home tomorrow.”

“It’s just some sneezing. Nothing terrible.”

“Dad says you stay home.”

“... You’re not my dad!”

We ended up getting caught in the rain. We took quite a bit of water before replaceing a small minimarket located at the side of the road.

"Achoo!"

“Here, here, take my jacket.”

I gave her my jacket. She put it on top of hers, making a warm double jacket configuration. Now that I thought about it, the only time she didn’t use her jacket was when she was home.

“Thanks...”

She meekly said.

“Oh, it’s ready.”

We had purchased cup noodles to heat us up. Sitting on the minimarket’s terrace, which was oddly modern looking, we enjoyed the hot noodle as we wait for the rain to pass by.

“Running out of these things is what killed me.”

I remarked with a mellow voice, remembering the day I left Earth.

“Ah, you mean what happened that day?”

“Yes.”

I stir up the noodles in my cup, mixing in the seasonings with the soup. I would argue that the soup was sometimes the best part of these instant noodles, as the noodles often feel bland if not mixed properly.

“This is delicious...”

She said as she sipped the soup from her cup.

“Do angels not eat up there?”

“No, we don’t. We don’t need them.”

She then put her cup on the table. She looked me straight in the eye. A soft smile appeared on her face.

“Thank you for bringing me here.”

She said with a soft voice I rarely ever heard. I wanted to remark with a ‘that’s not how you acted previously’ but decided it would be better if I simply nodded.

As I was thinking about how cute she looked, aachooruined the mood.

“By the way, what’s in that suitcase?”

I decided to just change the topic. She let out a slightsighwhile still keeping her smile, and brought the suitcase closer to me. I looked around, making sure no one was listening.

“Guns?”

She nodded. Inside, was a small handgun, but underneath that...

“This is the necessary equipment needed to convert your LIAR into lethal. I’ll work on it tonight.”

“I thought you were joking?”

“Well, we are going into a battle with the demon’s army without much preparation. Any extra firepower would be good.”

“I see...”

I took the handgun. It was a finely built weapon, the build felt strong and sturdy, and I particularly liked the combination of the shining silver color of the barrel and the dark wood of the handle.

“It’s a nice weapon.”

“I know...”

Emma said softly. This is the first time I’ve heard her speak this soft.

“Are you alright?”

She smiled. She stood up and walked to my right. Hugging my right hand, while looking down at me, she whispered directly into my ears, her silhouette covering the light.

“Are you concerned with me?”

...

Yeah, this girl is definitely staying home tomorrow.

She planted her face into my shoulder. With my free left hand, I grabbed my phone, and after a bit of struggle, asked Nia for help. Soon enough, a carriage arrived in front of the store. We finished our noodles on the way back. Nia and Amber dropped us in front of the inn. We gave them three cups, and they returned to the hangar.

Supporting the drowsy Emma, I returned to my room.

“Thanks for everything.”

Emma softly said before launching herself onto the bed. Not long after, the sound of her snoring could be heard. After confirming that she was asleep, I walked toward the toilet. Locking the doors, I leaned on the wooden door and let out a heavy breath. I can’t believe I’m thinking about this, but one thought fills my mind.

Emma is adorable. I wish this Emma could stay like this for a while longer...

“Come on! Let’s go!”

It seemed like everything that had happened yesterday was nothing more than a dream.

“It’s already 8! How long are you going to sleep?”

“Can’t you give me a bit more time?”

I answered, annoyed. After taking a warm bath last night, I headed to bed. Nothing weird happened. The night passed, and just like that, the normal Emma returned and was now pulling my hand.

“I wish yesterday’s Emma would just stay forever.”

My words seem to catch her by surprise, as I could feel the grip of my hand loosening. I tried to take a peek in order to see what she was doing, but her next action caught me completely off guard.

She threw herself onto the bed, accompanied by a sudden sink in the mattress as a result. She pulled herself closer to me and cuddled my right side.

“You want yesterday’s Emma, right? Here you go.”

She said softly, with no hint of sarcasm in her voice. It’s a sweet voice, something that reminds me of my time back on Earth.

“You sounded just like my crush.”

“I would rather not be compared to other girls... but it’s a good thing if you like it.”

She said as she pulled herself closer. I could feel her skin touching my body, her heat being transferred onto my right side. I felt a bit uncomfortable by the sudden development, so I forced myself off the bed.

“Fine, fine... let’s go.”
