Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared) -
Chapter 662
Beatrice broke the silence, "Agnes, we agreed that the moment I hand you this check, we're even. You can't use that old incident against me anymore. Especially when you had no proof back then. Nobody would believe you if you talked about it now. Oh, and I want the video surveillance from your room. Agnes, from now on, stay out of my way and I'll stay out of yours. Right now, our common enemies are Valeria and that third-rate actress, Sharon. What do you say, Agnes? Should we join forces to deal with them first, then compete fairly afterwards?"
Agnes was pushing her patience to the limit.
She felt like she was about to explode if she stayed there any longer.
But Agnes kept her cool, even managing to flash a smile at Beatrice, "I'll think about it, Beatrice. You've done well with this. Don't worry, I've deleted the video. You can go now. Please send my regards to Laura, I'll drop by for a visit in a few days."
Beatrice thought Agnes would really consider it.
Even though she had used Sharon to ruin Valeria and Jared's wedding, those two were still a thorn in her side.
If she could use Agnes to get rid of them, she would be the one to reap the benefits.
Agnes was still useful to her. She needed to stay on her good side.
Agnes was the key to dealing with those two women.
No one knew that Jared's true love was Agnes, and that never changed.
As long as Agnes joined her, even if something went wrong in the end, she could just pin it on Agnes.
She was both an offensive weapon and a defensive shield.
Beatrice was thrilled. She needed to go home and plan carefully.
After Beatrice left, Agnes sat on the couch, still holding the check.
The truth was being revealed, bloody and raw, even more so than she had imagined.
If it weren't for Laura's schemes back then, she wouldn't hate Alyssa so much.
If not for that, she wouldn't have left so decisively for four years.
If it weren't for these four years of separation, she and Jared wouldn't have gone their separate ways, living parallel lives with a vast chasm between them.
All of this was Laura's doing, and that woman had to pay for it.
These days, Agnes had been staying at the Eden Nights.
Most of her time was spent in front of the computer, watching Laura's every move.
Berlin had disappeared again for two days after he came back.
During these two days, Laura was trapped in her room.
Berlin had ordered the security guards to watch the door, and Laura couldn't even step outside.
Even her meals were delivered by the housekeeper.
Laura didn't panic though, instead, she spent the last two days making phone calls.
Agnes overheard two of them were to Hammer.
Laura asked him to lay low overseas for a while and not to show up in front of Berlin.
The rest of the calls were mostly about her antique business.
Laura had recently imported a batch of antique jewelry, reportedly worth a fortune.
Agnes was quite impressed with this woman's composure.
Berlin probably wouldn't let her off easily, and Laura could be kicked out at any moment.
But she remained incredibly calm.
It was as if the incident didn't pose a significant threat to her.
After thinking for two days, Agnes decided to expose Laura's affair with Hammer to the media.
