Her Burning Desire
Chapter 35

Melony

We made our way back down to the celebration which was coming to an end so everyone could go on the pack run. When Theodore announced for everyone to head outside, my nerves instantly kicked in. My palms started to get sweaty, my stomach was in knots. Theodore and Mark are the only ones here who have ever seen Harper. Once everyone sees her, then they will all know the prophecy that we have talked about is real. We have had talks with them, but seeing is believing and they are all about to see me tonight. Theodore was helping get everyone outside while I stood back admiring everyone. I'm sure he could feel my anxiety. He looked up making eye contact with me after helping a little girl get on her father's back for the run. I gave a small smile. "Relax Mel. Harper will be loved by them all."

I released a long breath that I didn't realize I was holding. I looked over to my right and saw Mark waiting for Theodore and I. The Gamma protects the Luna, so Mark would be running with Theo and I tonight. Olive and Todd were at the very back to protect the pack from anyone that would want to sneak up on us that way. They are second in command, so their position is to protect everyone just as much as the Alpha and Luna. Mark must sense my hesitancy as he approached.

"You got this Luna. Don't worry about it. Honestly, your wolf is badass. Anyone would be an i***t not to respect the fact that Harper is our Luna here." With a squeeze of my shoulder he walked away, shifting into his wolf. Theodore let Jackson take over and standing across from me, was the big black wolf himself.

Theo came through on the pack mind link. "Without further ado, I present to you our Luna! Harper and Melony will lead our pack tonight on our run!" He cut everyone else off, and focused on me now. "Mel, you need to shift now."

I nodded, knowing he was right. I took a deep breath and looked up at the sky and saw the moon shining brightly over us. I closed my eyes and slowly let Harper take over. I felt my body start to warm, I heard the cracking and popping of my bones and joints. When I opened my eyes again, I was standing at a much lower level, looking Jackson right in the eyes. I bounced my paws off the ground at how wonderful it felt to be in wolf form and not hiding. I started to get a bunch of link "Luna, you are beautiful."

"The Luna's wolf is almost as big as our Alphas wolf."

"Our Luna looks so strong. We are so lucky."

"I vow to always protect you, our Luna."

Harper then spoke to me for the first time in awhile. "They love us, Melony, they are all accepting us!" I could feel her emotion run through me. She was happy and proud, but I also felt her relief. Neither of us could help the tears of joy that were forming in the pits of our eyes. Jackson walked up and licked his mate and rubbed up against her to show his love and appreciation.

"I told you they would love you. We all do. You are the best Luna they could ever ask for. Now shake those tears and take us for our run!" Theodore's voice always gave me so much confidence. Alright Harper, let's do this. Lead the way, my beautiful wolf.

Harper took over and looked up at the sky, letting out a loud howl. All of our pack members joined in and I am sure for miles from here you could hear the howling. Then all you heard was the noise of paws beating off the ground as Harper took off with Jackson beside her. It took about an hour for us to run around our boarders as a group. Usually we would be done after that, but I told everyone we would do one more lap and as we passed the members' houses they could break off from us. I didn't want anyone traveling back to their homes this late on their own. Not with a threat against us still out there.

After the last member was dropped, we shifted back to our human forms. Theodore and I made our way back to the packhouse with Mark, Olive and Todd. I realized it was nearly 2am, and stopped dead in my tracks. Everyone came to a halt and Mark instantly started circling me with his back to me with his hands up in front of him.

"Where's the danger Mel, I got this!" Mark whispered loudly to me. I started to laugh at how ridiculous he looked right now, while the others just looked at me like I was crazy because they had their eyes peeled everywhere for danger also.

"There is no danger! You can all calm down." my laughing coming to a stop now. Olive crossed her arms at me and stomped her foot.

"Thats not funny, Melony Tucker! Your life is literally being threatened right now!!" She was scolding me.

"I know! I just stopped because I realized I should have met up with my stalker 2 hours ago. They would have known by now that I wasn't coming."

"Well, too bad for them because you aren't going anywhere!!" Theodore pulled me into his tight embrace.

As we got back to the packhouse, Theodore broke off from me and had to go to his office real quickly with Mark and Todd. He wanted to make sure all the warriors were in place because we didn't know when the attack would happen, since I had officially ignored their request. I told him I would head to our room and wait for him. As I stepped onto our floor, a strange scent had hit me. I've smelt it before, but it wasn't common to me, I couldn't place it. As I got closer to our door, the scent seemed to be getting stronger. I slowly placed my hand on the handle and turned it to peak in. It seemed dark at first, as if no one was there. I walked through the doorway and the light next to our bed flicked on.

There lying on MY bed was Jessica. The stupid tramp was in a piece of lingerie that hid absolutely nothing. "Why are you in my mate and my room?!" I boomed.

Jessica just smiled as if she was winning this little battle between her and I, knowing I needed to get a handle on my emotions so she couldn't use them against me. She sat up and swung her legs over the side of the bed. "Well, well. You aren't exactly who I was hoping would walk through that door, or who I was waiting for. Your mate and I were supposed to have this night together. You were supposed to be gone."

I could practically taste the lie as it rolled off her tongue. Although I was confused about what she meant by 'I was supposed to be gone'. I huffed and crossed my arms, "I don't know which mate you are waiting for, but I definitely know that it is not mine." She walked her way closer to me now, shaking her pointer finger back and forth at me. "mm, mm, mm Melony. Don't you realize it yet? Theodore can't take you as a mate. Your weak. You may produce him a strong heir, but that is all you will ever be to him. I was here before you, and I will be here after you. Don't be mistaken." Now I was seeing red. I opened up the mind link with Theo.

Come get your bimbo before I snap her neck!!! I shut the link off after that, blocking everyone out.

"You are nothing to this pack, a washed up coward, you will never truly be a Luna, or a companion to my Theodore."

That's it, I have had enough! I charged at her, too fast for her to even realize what was happening. I grabbed her by her throat and backed her up to the wall beside the door. "Let's get something straight right now. I am Theodores' mate. I bare his mark just as he bares mine. You will never touch him as long as I live. HE. IS. MINE. You might think I am weak, but I believe you're the one hanging by my hand right now. Cat got your tongue? You don't have anything nasty to say now while your life is in my hands, huh?" I smirked. I had my hand tightly around her neck, but not so tight that it would cut off all oxygen from her. Then I felt sparks glide across my back and a hand reached for my arm, sending sparks everywhere it touched.

"Melony, you need to release her." Theodore's voice came out smoothly.

I kept my eyes pointed at my enemy right now, and didn't dare move a muscle. "Melony, baby, let her go. I know you. You wouldn't be okay if you actually killed her right now. Your heart is too big to hold regret like that." He's right. My hand loosened and Jessica fell to the floor gasping for air.

I faced my mate. "I let her go, now get the naked sl*t out of my room, I will wait outside." I couldn't look at her anymore, I couldn't see her around Theodore dressed in nothing like that. I grabbed Mark by the arm and pulled him outside with me. I closed the door and leaned against it, taking a deep breath. Attention to Mark now. "So, how much of a problem will she continue to be?".
