Her Return, His Regret -
Chapter 146~ A revelation
"I thought I would have to work very hard to bring you down... who knew the heavens were on my side and did the job for me?" The woman said mockingly. "Look at you... who knew the great Ryan Kingsley could be so vulnerable?" The woman sneered as she looked around the ward. She wrinkled her nose at the scent of disinfectant and strong drugs. The sound of the beeping equipment irritated her to the core.
"So, despite being a rich man, you couldn't save your life. Serves you right!"
"I loved you, Ryan. But you chose that bitch, Lora over me. You even made me a fugitive! Now look at you! You're a dead man! Haha! In the end, I won!"
That's right. The woman who had sneaked into Ryan's room was none other than Ivy Williams.
However, she looked different from the Ivy Williams everyone knew. She had dyed her blonde hair black and she wore brown contacts to hide her green eyes.
With her hair styled into a fringe, it was hard to recognise her. Especially by those who didn't know her.
Ivy had been staying at an apartment that was under the name she was using now. Rose Woods.
Her father called her to let her know that Ryan was dying and he was admitted to the hospital.
Despite the risk, Ivy couldn't help herself. She wanted to see how far Ryan had fallen after ruining her life.
So, she bribed a nurse to help her sneak into Ryan's ward.
Sure enough, she felt a sense of satisfaction after seeing him look so weak and vulnerable.
She suddenly sneered and said, "Ryan Kingsley, I still can't believe that you were so gullible. How could you believe that I was crippled for so many years? Me? Ivy Williams? Why would I be a cripple?!"
She scoffed and laughed again. "Oh, you were such a fool. But you know what? That's not the only thing I lied about."
Ivy glanced at Ryan, a huge grin on her face as she said, "Since you're dying, I'll do you a favour and tell you the truth. Although I don't know if you will hear me since you're in a coma. I do hope you hear me though... perhaps it can kill you faster." She laughed again, her eyes gleaming with joy.
"Oh, I can't wait to see the look on Lora's face when you kick the bucket. She thought she could have you forever after stealing you from me. But karma is a bitch," Ivy uttered.
She sighed and remarked, "Anyway... Are you ready for the news?"
Ivy paused as though she was waiting for Ryan to answer but he just continued sleeping.
"I'm not the one who saved you," Ivy stated. "It was someone else but I took the credit!"
Ivy recalled the past and laughed, "Oh Ryan... you had been showing your gratitude to the wrong person all this while. I never saved you from drowning. Neither did I jump in front of you to get hit in your stead. I'm not crazy to risk my life like that!" When they were young, Ivy and her parents had gone for a vacation. They heard the Kingsleys had gone for a family outing, so they went to the same location to try and get close to them.
Suddenly, there was chaos on the beach. It turned out Ryan Kingsley had entered the water for a swim and couldn't be found.
As a rescue team searched for Ryan, Ivy took a little walk. However, she happened to see a little girl help Ryan out of the water.
When Ivy ran towards them, the girl asked, "Do you know him? Ask someone to take him back to his room. He will wake up soon."
However, Ivy didn't do that. She sat on the ground next to Ryan and waited for him to wake up. When he did, Ryan glanced at her and said, "You saved me."
Ivy secretly cut her arm with a stone and showed it to Ryan, replying, "Yes, I did. It wasn't easy. I even hurt myself."
Ryan felt guilty. From that time, he allowed Ivy to hang out with him and that was when it all started.
Years later when Ryan was older and he got kidnapped, Ivy made sure he thought she was the one who jumped in to save him, thus "breaking" her legs in the process.
"All that nonsense of me being
kidnapped with you never happened... well, someone got kidnapped with you but it wasn't, me... I just took the opportunity to have you wrapped around my finger and it worked! Who knew the great Ryan Kingsley could easily be manipulated?"
A look of hatred suddenly flashed through Ivy's eyes. She glared at Ryan and spat, "Oh, how I hate you wish I could strangle you to death right now! I hate you, Ryan Kingsley! Why didn't you love me? Why did you love that bitch, Lora? What did she have that I don't have"
Ivy's eyes turned red from frustration. She hated Ryan and blamed him and Lora for her misfortune.
"I stayed by your side when she ran away from you but I never got any warmth from you... dinners with you were forced. You couldn't even hug or kiss me... I hate you so much and I'm so glad you're dying, Ryan was planning to kill you anyway. If I can't have you, no one else will, Ivy
hissed.
When Ivy left, Ryan opened his eyes. He quickly called his security team and instructed. "Ivy just left my ward. Lock down the hospital and capture her now."
After the call, Ryan furrowed his eyebrows when he recalled Ivy's confession. He was pretending to sleep to hear what she was going to say and sure enough, he just got the shock of his life. Ivy had played her game well and he had been the fool who believed her for so many years.
Anger flared through Ryan. He dialled Adan's line and said through gritted teeth, "Bro, help me replace out who saved me in the past. It turns out I've been rewarding the wrong person this whole time." When he ended the call, Ryan lowered his eyes, his heart full of regret and pain. He had wasted so much time on a scheming woman and now, he was facing the consequences of his actions.
