Her Revenge Contract
Chapter 109

Katherine's POV

I looked up at Julia without any emotion written on my face and tightened my grip on the bottle, unable to say anything.

Xavier just watched me, and Greyson was trying to read me.

"Julia, will you be willing to testify against Rose and Erika?" I asked as soon as I found my voice.

"For you, I would do anything," she said.

I thanked her, and she left.

A few days had passed since Julia provided me with some evidence of my parents' murders, and I had become more and more restless with what the new financial staff had discovered.

I was anxiously looking through the piles and piles of financial reports.

I sighed and closed the last report. I shifted my gaze toward the five employees standing in my office, waiting for me to respond to what they had found.

"Give me concrete evidence," I growled coldly, "you guys are just drawing straws at the moment! Show me solid proof that my father was a criminal and involved."

"Yes, Ms. Kiing!" The group said, scattering out of my office.

I wonder what more evidence they might replace.

In the beginning, I only wanted proof to be able to put John behind bars. Now that we started to dig and made sure no page was left unturned, the information spread like cancer. I sighed, frustrated. So far, every document has pointed towards my father. He must have known what was going on.

Did he try to stop it?

Was he blackmailed in the process?

Then what happened? Why did John and Rose murder my father?

"Maybe he wanted out?" Kia commented.

I refuse to believe that my father was involved in the money-laundering scheme. There must be some mistake.

Then why did he sign off on the documents?

Or is this some sick trick to make me believe my father was guilty?

I scrunched my hands into fists. I had no other evidence but what I already knew, and with Nathan dead, I wouldn't know the whole story.

Who is the mastermind behind all this?

Where can I replace him?

Another breath escaped my lips, thinking of the possibility of having Rose and Erika tell the truth.

If I decided to expose and report my replaceings, not only would everyone believe I was guilty, but I would not be able to inherit the King Group; I would be exonerated by the board of directors, and the King Group would fall into Erika's hands. No! I will not let that happen.

The King group must never fall into the hands of Erika.

I grabbed my phone off the table and texted Xavier, then sat back and let my mind wander.

Technically, Xavier was officially the owner of the King Group, and I had Kelly draw up the agreement.

The problem was that, with the money laundering hanging heavy on my shoulders, I might not be able to even hand over my shares to Xavier.

A quiet knock sounded at my door, and my gaze snapped toward the entrance of the door.

"Ms. King," the newly appointed chief financial officer, greeted me, and I gestured for him to take a seat.

"To whom do I owe the sudden visit?" I asked, smiling at him.

The new CFO, Garry, was a tall wolf with medium brown hair. His soft blue eyes carried warmth, yet a bit of worry and seriousness. I have been working hand in hand with him, and we have become acquainted with one another. I respected his opinions and started to trust him.

"I suggest that you get the police involved to handle the money laundering situation," he said as he took a seat and searched my gaze. "The cops can do a more in-depth investigation; they know what to look for."

I became even more anxious when I heard what Garry suggested, but will it help to prove my father's innocence? If this backfires, I will lose everything to Erika.

My phone beeped next to me, and I glanced at the screen to see Xavier's text message.

"One second," I said to Garry, and I picked up my phone to read the message.

My heart pounded in my chest upon seeing his reply, yet a sudden calmness came over me.

I nodded to myself as I read the few words again, just to make sure I had read them right.

"Call the cops. Don't worry, I'm here for you!"

Those few simple words gave me confidence.

"You can proceed," I said as I looked at the message, "you have my permission to get the police involved."

Garry smiled, got to his feet, and left.

It was like a bomb that exploded in the business world, and every news reporter wanted the story. Groups of people gathered at the reception area, trying to get access to the company to replace out more. It was late afternoon when Greyson walked in, smiling like a cat that had found a bowl of cream.

He has been fairly quiet, yet I think he focused his energy on keeping me calm.

"And that smile?" I asked as he took his seat.

"Just some interesting new stuff," he said.

"Care to share?" I said, lifting an eyebrow.

He sighed and smiled, seemingly happy with himself.

"You know that Erika and Rose are restricted from traveling outside the city?" he asked.

"Yes, what about that?"

"Well," he said, rolling his eyes and getting up from his seat, "a little naughty boy cried wolf at a certain Council, and they got the police involved, who froze Rose and Erika's assets and accounts." I burst out laughing. I could just imagine Erika's annoyed and furious face.

"Should I ask what evidence this little naughty wolf provided the council?" I asked through my laughter.

"Rather not," he said seriously, "it is safer if you don't know anything."

Later that night, after a long, stressful day at work, I got home exhausted and headed to my room.

I dumped my handbag on my bed and headed to the bathroom to run a bath. I needed to unwind and relax.

Xavier sneaked into the bathroom the second he knew I was comfortable.

His scent, mixed with the steam, drove Kia crazy in my mind.

Xavier's hand slipped over my bare shoulders, and his strong hand gently rubbed and massaged my aching muscles.

I moaned out of pleasure, enjoying the soft torture of his fingers on my sore muscles.

"Xavier," I moaned.

I internally whimpered when Xavier stopped and moved his hands away, and I lazily turned my head in search of him.

Xavier grabbed the sponge and rubbed soap on it, then bent down and slowly started to wash me.

I moaned as he moved over my already-hardened nipples.

Kia howled with appreciation in my mind; she wanted Xavier to hurry and make love to us.

Yet Xavier took his sweet time, washing every part of my body.

"Do you feel more relaxed?" he asked.

"Mmm," I replied.

Xavier helped me up and carefully wrapped the towel around me. With one swift movement, he picked me up bridal style and carried me back to my bed.

He set me down, hovered over me, bent down, and kissed me on the head.

Kia growled, frustrated; she wanted Xavier to take charge and make love with us, now. She forced control and snaked my arms around Xavier's neck, pulled him closer, and locked my lips to his. Xavier chuckled, amused, when he pulled away from me. He was still panting, and I was so aroused that every part of me burned to have him here and now.

We hadn't been intimate since the day he marked me, and Xavier was deliberately avoiding having any sexual contact with me.

For a few seconds, his gaze roamed over me, and I thought he might have changed his mind.

To my disappointment, I was wrong, and he bent down and pecked my lips before he rushed out of my room.

"What the f*ck was going on with him?" I growled, irritated, as my heart hurtfully pinched inside my chest.

Doesn't Xavier want me anymore?

Is he regretting marking me?

Did he replace someone else?

Tears burned behind my eyes, and my vision became blurry.

"Oh, Goddess," I whispered, "why is my mate acting like this?"

Kia whimpered inside my mind; she was hurting too. She slowly got up and disappeared into the depths of my mind, leaving me alone with my shattered heart.

I cried, feeling my heart break for a reason I didn't know.

Why doesn't Xavier want to tell me what is bothering him?

Doesn't he love me anymore?

Doesn't he replace me attractive anymore?

Tears rolled over my face, soaking my pillow. I had pulled my knees to my chest, trying hard to control my sobs and heartache.

It was after midnight when my phone beeped continuously.

Startled, I sat upright, disoriented. I must have dozed off and forgotten to mute my phone earlier.

Another message came through, and another, and another.

I picked up my phone and unlocked it, feeling the bright light hurt my swollen eyes.

Sixty-two thousand notifications greeted me on my Instagram account and another fifty thousand and some odd on my TikTok account.

I rolled my eyes, feeling annoyed that the notifications had woken me, yet I couldn't help but be curious about why I was getting so many notifications at this time of night.

I clicked on my Instagram account, and an article sprang open with hundreds of thousands of comments attached to it.

"Conspiracy!" The heading read: "The King Group heir frames the family for power seizure!"

I gasped for air, feeling as if the heading of the article had hands around my throat and was choking me, and my heart pounded out of control against my chest.

I should be used to it by now, but this made me feel afraid.

"I am dreaming," I whispered to myself, closing my eyes and taking a deep breath. "This is some sick joke!"

I shook my head in denial, ignored the heading, and started reading the article.

The article stated that when my father was in office and in power, it was discovered there were accounting errors made. With my return, I knew of the money laundering and did everything in my power to create trouble to hide his criminal acts and ensure I wouldn't lose my inheritance rights.

I looked at the comments; the numbers had jumped to over 100 thousand in minutes.

I felt powerless. I knew this was Rose's doing. Her methods were always ruthless, and this time she created such a wave that it would be hard to prove my innocence, and the only way out of this was to publicly present the evidence I have, but was it enough? My mind raced to the little gift Julia gave me-it was proof that my parents were killed by Rose's hands and Erika's involvement.

I will not let this go! They will not have the opportunity to escape-not now, not ever!

I sneered, and a revengeful smile followed on my lips.

I just need one last piece of evidence!
