Her Revenge Contract -
Chapter 132
Katherine's
POV
"I'm telling you!" Emma's voice echoed through the quiet foyer: "I won't leave! I am the rightful heir of the King Group!"
I looked out the guest bedroom window and saw Julia standing by the car I had arranged to pick up Emma.
Julia sighed helplessly, shaking her head, and turned toward the driver for help.
I sighed and got up. Anger is already burning my insides. I should have known that she was here to try and take something that didn't belong to her. Greed and jealousy had already consumed her.
I quickly got up, grabbed the file containing the signed contract and my handbag, and made my way down the stairs.
Emma was so busy throwing a scene that she didn't hear me coming.
"What did you just say?" I asked behind her.
Startled, she turned around, seeing me. I guess she thought I had already left. She took a quick step aside, yet seconds later she regained her confidence and smirked. "The King Group belonged to my father," she sneered. "You have no right to send me away. The company and villa rightfully belong to me."
After listening to the unrealistic claims Emma was throwing at me, I lowered my head and slowly shook my head. I licked my lips as I raised my eyes, looking at her as if she had lost her mind.
"Are you sure?" I asked, shifting my head from side to side, "Think about this carefully." I narrowed my eyes. "Even though you carry King blood in your veins, your birth certificate states that your surname is Smit. John's name doesn't even appear on the birth certificate as your father."
I did some research last night, which came in handy this morning.
I pulled out a copy of the birth certificate and handed it to her.
Emma was silent at my words for a moment. She raised her chin proudly and looked into my eyes. I could see she was unwilling to give in that easily.
I saw Xavier's car pulling in and glanced at the watch on my wrist-time to go to work.
"Make sure she leaves today," I instructed Julia. "If she refuses, get the warriors to remove her and call the police to lock her up."
I gave Emma one last look and headed toward Xavier's car.
Xavier gave me a curious look when I got in and turned to me.
"What happened?"
I let out a breath and turned toward him.
"That woman," I growled, and I glanced back at where she stood, "is John's bastard child. She showed up here yesterday, claiming to be the heir of the King Group. I asked the driver to take her back to her pack, but she is being difficult and insists on staying." Xavier frowned and narrowed his eyes, and he stepped on the gas.
My mind wandered off, thinking of what Emma had said, and I knew that this matter wasn't going to be as simple as I had hoped.
"I'll pick you up tonight," Xavier said as he stopped the car.
"I can't," I said as I unbuckled the seatbelt. "I have a function I need to attend to."
Xavier raised an eyebrow in displeasure. Enjoy this chapter for free and stay updated with the latest version on Job_ni-b.c-om. Don't miss out, visit it now. "Very well, don't overdo the drinking, otherwise...""I will," I said, and I opened the car door.
As soon as I entered my reception area, a cold chill ran down my spine, and I knew William was already standing and waiting for me.
I sighed out loud and walked past him, straight into my office, knowing he would follow me.
"You are early," I said, and I gestured for William to have a seat.
"The early bird catches the worm," he said, amused, and turned serious. "This project is very important to me. I would like to inspect the equipment so that you can start."
I nodded in understanding and pulled out all the relevant documents and handed them to William, then walked to his side and pointed to a certain area on the document.
"This is the company's current action plan," I said. "As you can see, all is in order."
William nodded, seemingly happy.
"If there is no problem, we could start according to the original plan."
William nodded and took a step closer to me.
"The plan is perfect. I don't need to look at it again."
"Then, Alpha William, let's start the tour!"
It took us about three hours to go through the whole process in the factory, showing and explaining.
"As you can see, we used the information provided and have made a sample," I said, showing the preliminary finished product to William. "From here, it will go for testing to check if the quality is correct and for any defects. Putting us already ahead of schedule." William nodded and pulled his lips into a thin line, thinking.
"I am impressed," he said, turning to me. "It's almost lunchtime; would you like to join me for a quick meal?"
Have a meal?
Was he kidding me?
The last time it looked like a marriage proposal
I brushed back a stray hair and found William's gaze. "Alpha, thank you for the invite, but I don't mix business with pleasure."
"Does that mean you would consider seeing me after work? I will make dinner reservations for us, and then after we can go and watch a movie."
I patiently listened to William, then quickly grabbed my phone from my pocket, acting like I had received an urgent message, and lifted my gaze.
"I am sorry, Alpha William," I said. "I have an urgent meeting to attend. I will get my manager, Mr. Davison, to assist you with any other questions." William gave me a look of disbelief, then nodded his head.
I turned and waved to the production manager, and he quickly rushed over.
"Ms. King," he greeted, "is there...?"
"No, no," I stopped him, "could you please assist Mr. Saunders with any questions or concerns he has?"
"Certainly," he said and smiled, "Mr. Saunders, this way, please."
I smiled politely, and William followed Davison down the hallway. I turned on my heels, feeling happy to be rid of him.
Sophia waited for me with a large stack of documents in her arms; she must have heard me coming down the hallway.
I sighed.
I already had an idea what kind of reports they were; I have been waiting for them for a while now.
"Thanks," I said as I took the reports from her.
I hid in my office the rest of the day and buried myself in my investigation.
I was sure there were still John's followers hidden in the group, and the only way to expose them was by going through every business transaction.
It was a tedious job, and before long, Sophia knocked on my office door and reminded me about the function tonight.
I sighed as I dropped my pen on my desk. I still had so many reports to go through.
But it will have to wait.
I needed to get dressed for tonight's charity gala.
Even though the event wasn't a major one, the only reason I was going was to get myself acquainted and connected.
