Her Revenge Contract -
Chapter 30
Xavier's POV
Greyson raised an eyebrow and turned his gaze toward me.
"This might be a good thing," Greyson commented, "I know Kate is scared to commit, but making this huge, she might..."
I nodded my head, ignoring Greyson's gaze.
"Why do you want to keep this from Kate?" I asked, cocking my head arrogantly to the side, raising an eyebrow.
John shifted nervously in his seat, then looked for Rose for help.
"We have constantly been having misunderstandings with Kate. We would like to use this opportunity to ease the relationship between us," Rose explained, acting sincerely. "Well, since you insist on having a big function, I can't refuse..." I answered.
John sighed happily and a smile spread over his lips.
"...but," I sat forward, "since it's Kate and my engagement party, I'd like to make the arrangements myself. Let's set a date for the end of this month..."
"Yes, yes," John agreed, eagerly.
"Then it is settled," I said and got up, "This meal is on me..."
"But..." John said, shocked, and got to his feet.
"There is nothing more to discuss..." I said coldly, turned, and left toward the exit.
"Did you manage to plant the bug?" I asked Greyson, as we headed to the black SUV.
"Yes," he answered and unlocked the vehicle.
"What distance..?" I asked as we got in.
"Around a mile..." he answered proudly.
"That far?"
I was amazed.
Greyson was working on spy equipment, but most were still prototypes. Guess we will be testing some of his new toys tonight.
A small proud smile played on Greyson's lips.
"Yes," he answered, "Kerry has done the setup in the hotel close by," he answered proudly.
"I hope in a private room," I teased.
"You should know me by now," he answered and took the next turn off.
Kerry waited for us in the lobby, looking excited about testing the new gadgets.
We followed Kerry toward the hotel room and she knocked on the door.
A warrior opened the door, saw Kerry return, and opened the door wider for us to enter.
Two other wolves had earphones on, listening in.
"Alpha, Beta," the group of wolves greeted us.
"Status report," Greyson commanded
"John isn't very happy about the Alpha leaving," one of the warriors commented.
"That's expected," Greyson said and handed me some earphones.
"Shall we?" He asked.
I nodded and placed the earphones in my ears.
"Father, did Alpha Xavier see something odd in the champagne?" Erika asked, regardless of where they were.
Typical, I thought, the girl had no class and she would be the one who would bring her family to ruins.
Greyson turned his gaze to me, with a cheeky smile on his lips.
I knew he wanted to be praised again. He wanted everyone to know he had saved the Alpha from the future Luna's relatives' hands.
I internally chuckled and thanked him again.
That spiked Kerry's interest and she turned her gaze toward us confused.
"They tried to drug the Alpha," he said, a matter of fact like it was nothing.
I rolled my eyes, knowing that this would be the start of a long conversation and praise.
"Really?" Kerry gasped surprised, and the warriors turned their attention to the conversation.
"Seems like they enjoy creating amok everywhere they go!" She commented.
"Yeah, and Greyson spotted it just in time!" I told her.
"Well done!" Kerry praised him and went to her mate's side.
I turned my attention back to the task at hand.
"You are recording this?" I interrupted Kerry.
"Yes, Alpha," she assured me.
We might just use this when the time comes.
I listened to how John hollers at Erika.
I still couldn't understand what anyone would gain by spoiling their kid so much that they never learn to use their common sense!
It wasn't as if Erika wasn't good-looking... on the contrary, Erika was a very beautiful young woman, she just lacked a proper IQ.
Erika whimpered, and Rose was the one who defended her daughter.
"John, our daughter is just a bit outspoken," she told him calmly, "she will be more careful next time."
I can just imagine John rolling his eyes at his mate. How many more times should he warn his daughter to behave properly in public?
"Now, let us think of a plan to get Alpha Xavier to fall in love with Erika..." she suggested.
The group of wolves peeked toward me, looking at my reaction when I heard Rose's words.
I ignored them, listening attentively to their conversation.
"But Alpha Xavier is already in love with Kate," Erika whined.
"Yes, and it is not as if we could tell them to break it off, either," John said.
"We will have to do this differently..." Rose commented and sighed, "the only way to get Kate to stay away from Xavier, is to have her heart broken..."
"Break the trust between them?" John asked.
"Yes," Rose answered, "we just need to replace a way to have him drugged, passed out, and have another woman climb into bed with him..."
Rose paused for a second before she continued, "Then take photos, and show them to Kate... and maybe use them to force Xavier to sign a contract with him..."
"I don't think Alpha Xaveir would fall for such tricks..." Erika whined.
I guess after I had rejected her again, maybe things were now starting to sink in that I was not interested.
"...but if he does fall for the plan, I, uhm, I would gladly assist..."
I grabbed the earphones from my head and shoved them on the table.
"I heard enough," I growled.
"Greyson," I called for his attention and Kerry got off from his lap.
"Yes, Alpha?"
"Can you and Kerry start with the engagement part arrangements?" I asked, "I want the party to be big and fancy... something that will be remembered by everyone..." "Any theme in particular," Kerry asked, stepping closer to hear my ideas.
"Yes," I answered, "I want something like a carnival mixed with a masked ball... make it happen..." Kerry's eyes shined out of excitement and she made a little happy dance at where she stood. "Alpha," Greyson's pulled my attention away from Kerry, "what about the engagement ring?"
