Katherine's POV

It's been two weeks since our weekend away, and things have been extremely busy.

The upcoming engagement party has been announced in every newspaper, magazine, and social media platform possible, and it is tonight.

My gaze landed on the diamond ring on my finger, and my heart warmed in my chest.

Xavier and I have been seeing each other almost every night since the weekend of the festival. Things were slowly falling into place for the better, and I was slowly changing for the better. After my near-death experience, I didn't trust anyone and refused to let people get close to me. Now I can say that I fully trusted Xavier and Ray, and that was with my life.

Our weekend away did me good. I had so much fun with Xavier and at the festival that I was glad we could stay another night.

Xavier had introduced me to his pack members there and promised to meet the rest of the pack the next day.

"Isn't this the actual festival?" I asked after seeing hundreds of people.

Xavier shook his head and said, "No, this is just the night of preparation. Only the elders and the ranks are staying."

"Why?" I asked, curious to know.

"Edna will be doing a ritual a bit later, and then we will all thank the Goddess for such a great harvest."

"I don't understand why the rest of the pack can't be here for this." I asked, "I am an outsider; what makes me any different from the rest of the pack?"

Xavier became quiet, and he was struggling to answer. It was Greyson who came to Xavier's rescue.

"My grandmother uses the strongest wolves' powers to contact the goddess," he answered.

"But I am only human," I answered, and a small taunting smile appeared on Greyson's lips.

"Luna," he said, looking at Xavier, "you are anything but a human!"

I shook my head in denial.

"Greyson," I said, "I know what I am. I promise you, except for my heightened senses, there is nothing more."

The same smile played on Greyson's lips.

"If that is true, Luna, the ritual won't work, and my grandmother will request Alpha Xavier to have you, uh, removed."

His words were bitter to swallow, yet I accepted them; it wouldn't be the first time I would be rejected in the community. "Very well," I answered, "should I leave now?"

"No!" The elderly woman's voice was clear as daylight, and we all turned toward Edna.

"But, Greyson just said..."

Edna held out her hand and gestured for me to stop.

"My grandsons said that if the ritual doesn't work, I would request Alpha have you removed, but I promise you, the ritual will work."

"How can you be so sure?" I whispered, feeling everyone's gaze on me.

"Just like Greyson, I can read people," she answered. "You are just a late bloomer."

"Late bloomer?" I asked in disbelief and internally rolled my eyes, trying not to be disrespectful.

"Yes, it is said and believed among our people that the strongest wolf will one day bring us all together and show us the way. Many would claim that title, but only the pups will be able to sense her."Many paragraphs are missing. Read the complete book on Jo-bn- ib.c(o)m. My eyes widened at her words. They were very similar to what Elsa said a few weeks ago.

"Edna," I hesitated, I needed to know more about this legend, prophecy, prediction, whatever they wanted to call it.

"Yes?" She asked, and her gaze found mine.

"What is this prophecy about?" I asked, hoping she would be able to understand.

"Why do you ask, Luna?"

"Because I was told a similar thing in my pack," I replied.

“|

I guess my twin sister, Elsa, must have noticed it too," she replied and laughed.

"Sister?" Xavier gasped, surprised.

"Twin?" Greyson added.

"Yes," Edna answered, looking at the two men a bit annoyed. "I do have family living outside this pack, you know!"

"Why haven't you told us?" Greyson asked, bewildered at the discovery.

"You never asked!" The old woman simply replied and turned back to me.

"When Elsa and I were born, we were gifted with abilities. Elsa could see the future and past. I can read people's abilities, feel their strength, and hear their wolves."

That was hard to swallow when it got to Elder Elsa seeing the future.

Why didn't she prevent my parents from being killed?

"I guess you would like to know why my sister didn't stop your parents' deaths?" Edna suddenly asked.

I slowly nodded my head, not saying a word. This might give me some closure if I knew what had happened.

Edna gestured for me to follow her, and we all took a seat close to the bonfire at a long table, taking about fifty or so wolves with pillows for chairs.

Edna clapped her hands as soon as we were all settled in, and Omegas came rushing toward the table, serving food.

Just as fast as the omegas arrived, they were gone.

"I thought?" I asked as my gaze landed on an omega leaving.

"They came to serve food, then left; they are not part of the ritual," Edna answered. "Please help yourselves to some food."

I wasn't sure where to start with the feast; everything looked so delicate and deliciously prepared.

When we were almost done eating, Edna started to tell us about her history.

"We, Elsa and I, knew about our destiny from a very young age," she said, and a small smile reached her lips. "And as I said, we both had our own set of gifts."

Greyson and Xavier placed their utensils on the side of the plate and focused their attention on every word this woman had to say.

"The Goddess gave us these gifts to replace the Goddess's child and help her."

"Ms. King," the driver called, and the memory faded before my eyes, "we have arrived."

I turned my gaze toward the entrance of the hotel, and the driver brought the vehicle to a slower speed.

Xavier decided to use the hotel close to the beach for our engagement party.

"Take me to the underground parking bay, please!" I demanded.

The driver nodded his head and continued driving, then turned toward the underground parking lot and entered a code.

The gate swung open, and the driver drove in, parking the black SUV in the designated parking lot. He opened the door for me, helped me out, closed the passenger door, and headed to the boot, collecting my bag.

I headed toward the private elevator, with the driver short on my heels. He pressed the call button for the elevator, and the huge elevator opened its doors, presenting an elegant lift with its operator.

"Good afternoon, Ms. King," the lift operator greeted me as both the driver and I entered the lift. "How are you today?"

I have become familiar with the staff in the hotel, especially with the lift operator operating the elevator to the private VIP penthouse.

"Hello, George," I said. "I am very well, and you?"

"Just another wonderful day serving Alpha Black," he answered, smiling, and dialed the floor number.

The elevator door opened into the private lobby of the penthouse, and my driver carried my bags toward the front door, then entered a code, unlocking the doors.

I sighed as I set my handbag down in the sitting room and walked to the balcony to look down below.

The beach hotel didn't have too many floors, but it was high enough to feel the wind and low enough to spot people from the floor.

I looked down and pulled my lips into a thin line as I saw how many people had gathered together to see me and Xavier walking down the red carpet toward our party.

Xavier wanted to send bodyguards with me, but he soon gave in and sent one of his drivers with me.

My gaze moved toward the dark-headed driver, standing at the door as if he were intending to do so. He wasn't the size of Xavier's normal driver, yet I had a feeling that this wolf wasn't a driver at all. "You can make yourself at home," I said to the driver, and I found his gaze.

"Ms. King, I have been given..."

"I know," I stopped him, "but please take a seat; you will make me nervous if you stand like that the whole night."

I nodded my head in understanding and took a seat in the bar area.

"Now, if you will excuse me, I am going to go and get ready for tonight!" I said, and I turned toward my room.

It wasn't the first time I had been here. Xavier brought her to me a few times to spend time together without anyone interfering.

A smile played at the corners of my lips as my gaze landed on the bedroom door handle, and my mind raced toward a moment where only me and Xavier mattered.

Our clothes lay in a trail toward the bedroom door, and Xavier managed to remove my black lace bra and hang it on the door handle.

He pushed me against the door, his lips assaulting mine.

I moaned against his lips, feeling his cock press against my thin pants.

I was already wet just from the kiss, and I couldn't wait for him to claim my body once more.

Xavier pulled my legs around his waist, replaceing a way to open the door and shut it behind him.

He let go of me and dropped me on the bed, and a mischievous grin followed on his lips. Yet, before he could think of doing anything, I pulled him closer, releasing his huge, rock-hard cock from his boxers and grabbing hold of his shaft. A smile formed on my lips as I saw the clear liquid on the tip of his cock and licked my lips before I pushed his whole shaft into my mouth.

Xavier's eyes darkened, and he moaned out of pleasure.

My phone suddenly rang, and my attention snapped toward my bag in the sitting room. I rushed back to see who it was.

A broad smile stretched over my lips when I answered the call.

"Tell me you are safely inside the hotel," Xavier growled annoyedly over the phone, ignoring the ethics of greeting first.

"I am," I answered. "I arrived about ten minutes or so ago."

"Good," he answered, "it is a mad house out here! I will see you soon!" He cut the call.

I dripped the phone into my bag and headed toward my room, then quickly took a shower, knowing the make-up artist, hairdresser, and stylist would be arriving soon.

I was just done with my routine when the first knock on the door came, and the driver went to see who it was.
