Xavier's POV

I sat back in the passenger seat, feeling a major headache rising. It has been extremely busy the last couple of days with all the arrangements for the engagement party-not that I minded, that I welcomed, but all the politics around it not as much. "Alpha, we have arrived," my regular driver announced. "Stop under the underground parking," I ordered.

Greyson's eyes were pinned on me, yet I ignored him. I knew what he was thinking.

"Are you nervous?" Greyson suddenly asked.

"No," I answered, and I moved my gaze out of the window. "Things have been wonderful between me and Kate; why would I be nervous?"

"You look a bit irritated," he commented.

"You would feel the same if everyone had their focus on you!" I said, and I turned my gaze to Greyson, lifting an eyebrow.

"True," he answered and chuckled, "that is why you are the Alpha and I am the Beta; you can handle such pressure!"

I huffed, annoyed, and turned my gaze back out the window.

Hundreds, if not thousands, gathered around the front of the hotel, waiting for Kate's and my arrival.

They were all waiting patiently to see Kate and me walk down the red carpet like celebrities and become the future, Ms. Black. "Have you seen that the King Enterprises shares started to rise again?" Greyson asked.

I shook my head.

"No, I have not," I answered aloofly.

I have been neglecting most of my business reading due to all this commotion about the engagement party and Kate. Kate! Sh*t!

"Have you heard any news of the driver arriving?" I asked Greyson.

"No, I thought he called you," he replied, worried.

I growled under my breath, pulled my phone out of my pocket, and dialed Kate's number.

The phone rang, and I became impatient. Did something happen to her?

By the eighth ring, she answered, and I snapped, pissed yet feeling relieved.

"Tell me you are safely inside the hotel," I growled over the phone.

"I am," she answered calmly. "I arrived about ten minutes or so ago."

"Good," I answered, "it is a madhouse out here! I will see you soon!" I said, cutting the call.

How was Kate taking this so calmly? I was internally freaking out! This was too much!

"You wanted to make it public!" Ray reminded me, "Remember your plan!"

I rolled my eyes at him, and a breath escaped my lips.

Greyson raised an eyebrow at me and shook his head, and a minute later the driver managed to drive through the crowd of people and stop at the gate. Greyson pressed the remote, and the gate opened for the driver to enter. The driver didn't even have a chance to open the door for me.

I got out and rushed toward the elevator, pressed the call button, and waited.

The elevator flew open, and I got in.

Greyson just shook his head as he watched me from the car, leaving him and the driver in the parking lot.

"Good afternoon, Alpha," George greeted me, and I gave him a nod of the head. George pressed the elevator's floor number, and the doors opened on Kate's floor in less than a minute.

George closed the elevator doors, and I stalked toward the front door of the penthouse, punched the code in, and opened the door.

"Alpha," Kate's driver, spotted me and rushed to my side.

"Why haven't you informed me of your arrival?" I reprimanded him, "What would you have done if something happened to your Luna!?"

"Sorry, Alpha, with all the commotion, it slipped my mind," he answered, dropping his head.

"Xavier," Kate's angelic voice took the anger right out of me, and my head snapped in the direction of her voice.

My gaze landed on Kate standing in the doorway, dressed in a fluffy white robe.

Her hair was already done in a fancy updo, and loose curls framed her face.

"Kate!" I gasped, and Ray howled in my mind, urging me to go to Kate.

"Shouldn't you get dressed?" She asked, and a small, teasing smile followed on her lips.

"Uhm, if you looked like that, I would..." I swallowed hard against the lump that formed in my throat.

Hell, Kate was beautiful.

"No, Xavier," she cut me off with a teasing smile, "then we will never make the engagement party on time, and what will your supporters or my so-called family think?"

She walked closer, snaked her arms around my neck, and pulled me down toward her lips.

My heartbeat escalated as her scent enveloped me, clouding all my senses.

"You need to get dressed," she said, pecking my lips and letting go of me. That simple act sent fire through my body.

I whimpered at the loss of contact, and Kate gave me another teasing smile before she turned and left toward her room, leaving me there standing like a lost puppy, yawning for his mother. "Get a move on!" Ray growled in my mind, "The party starts in less than an hour!"

I took a deep breath and stalked toward my room.

Five minutes before we should have left, I walked out of the room, fully dressed in a black penguin suit.

The driver walked closer, with a box in his hands,

"Alpha," he said, handing me a box, "Greyson delivered these a few minutes ago."

"Thanks," I said, opening the box on the counter.

On the side were two masks: one plain black mask, which I assumed was for me, and a second black mask that was perfectly crafted with black and bottle green small feathers and diamonds coming down the left side. My fingers carefully moved over the beautiful mask, ensuring not to spoil it.

The clicking of Kate's bedroom door lock grabbed my attention, and Kate slowly emerged from her room.

My heart stopped for a split second, seeing her.

Kate was a beautiful woman, but now she was even more beautiful.

My gaze slowly moved over her petite features, taking every inch of her in. Kate's dress was a dark bottle-green plain cami silk dress with small diamonds running over the shoulders. The dress had a high slit, showing off her long, sunbathing legs, and a low cut around her breasts. The dress fitted her like a glove, and I couldn't keep my eyes off her.

My gaze moved to her face, seeing her juice-red, full lips, and my imagination went wild. Ray howled with appreciation in the back of my mind. He liked what I was seeing just as much as I did.

"Do you like it?" Kate asked, cutting my dirty thoughts off and sounding a bit distressed.

"I love it," I answered, opening my arms to her.

A smile followed on Kate's lips, and she rushed into my arms.

We stood there for about a minute or so, just enjoying each other's company. I closed my eyes while listening to Kate's heartbeat.

I sighed in contentment.

For once, I felt happy and complete. With Kate by my side, I will conquer the world if I have to.

"Sorry, Alpha," Kate's driver interrupted, and I turned my head toward him, annoyed at him for interrupting the perfect moment, "but it is time to go!"

I pushed Kate out of my arms, keeping her at arm's length as my gaze moved over her.

"Are you ready?" I asked, searching her gaze.

"As ready as I can be!" She answered, smiling up at me, "Let's do this!"

I handed Kate her mask and took mine, then grabbed her hand, and we both followed the driver toward the door.

Greyson waited outside for us with Kelly by his side.

"Alpha, Luna," Greyson greeted and pushed the elevator's call button, "the limo is waiting for you in the undercover parking. We will meet you at the party. Good luck..!"
