SELENE

"Well..." Clarissa started and I shut the book and took a few steps closer to her, she cleared her throat and avoided my gaze for a while before she turned back to me with an apologetic look on her face, "I would have loved to tell you about the wolf boy, but if Drystan already called dibs on telling you, I wouldn't want to take that away from him" she said and I frowned. "Is it some sort of ritual? Or some deep stuff that only the person that called dibs on have to be the one to talk about it?"

"Not really, but if the person that called the dibs is Drystan then he has to be the one that tells the story. It's way more personal to him." "But..." I started but she immediately interrupted me.

"Let's not talk about it again, Selene, please. Let's just hurry up and get out of here, okay?" She said and I thinned my lips but nodded nonetheless. She smiled when I nodded and gave me a thumbs up, "I'm almost done checking out the place, so in a few minutes, I'll be back" she informed me and swiftly walked away.

I stared at the place she was standing on and bit my lips then turned to the area she disappeared into and sighed "there's got to be a reason they are so secretive. I shouldn't prob too much tho" I mumbled to myself and stared at the book I was holding, "let's keep you back" I whispered and made to drop the book on the pile of books I've already gone through when an idea popped into my head and I smirked, "well, not my fault the book might have the answers" I mumbled. The book has a picture of a boy with five wolves, so it might have the story I want to hear, so I sat on the floor and immediately opened the book in search of the picture.

But to my surprise, the first page I opened had the drawing of the birthmark, which I've been looking for, "no way!" I blurted and traced the lines of the drawing, "ain't no way!" I squealed and immediately stood up from the floor.

"I found it!" I clutched the book to my chest and twirled around, "yes!" I yelled when I finally stopped twirling and looked at the page again with a smile on my face.

"Is everything okay?" I heard Clarissa ask beside me and I quickly ran to her and engulfed her in a hug, she was taken aback and hesitant to hug me but after a while, she relaxed into the hug and wrapped her arms around me. "Everything is just perfect, Rissa! I've finally found it!" I blurted out and immediately regretted what I said.

"Found what?" She asked and slowly pushed me away from her, "what did you replace? I thought you said just wanted to see the old library?" She pushed me away completely and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Well... It's.." I stuttered and scratched the back of my neck as I tried to avoid her gaze.

"It's what, Selene? Did you lie to me?" She sneered and took a few steps closer to me, I immediately turned to her and shook my head rapidly.

"No! Of course not" I breathed out and she raised an eyebrow. "Fine!" I sighed and pushed the book towards her, "the book kind of has the story of the wolf boy and I was excited I found it. I'll just show it to Drystan and then read it!" I lied through my teeth and she gazed at me then at the book before she breathed out a laugh, and shook her head.

"Well, I'm sorry for my attitude earlier, I just hate being lied to" she apologized and I gulped nervously, "if that's all, let's go then. I'm done," she said and I bobbed my head. "Sure, let's go!"

We both carefully walked out of the library and she locked it behind me before we got into the car and drove off. We made small talk on our way back, and I tried my best to avoid talking about the incident at the library because I couldn't stand lying to her over again.

I heaved a sigh of relief when she pulled into our driveway and without waiting for her to properly stop, I jumped out of the car, "thank you for today! I want to make something for Drystan before he gets back" I stuttered when I realized I got off the car way too fast. She stared at me suspiciously before she nodded her head and mouthed bye, then drove out. The moment her car was out of sight, I puffed out a breath and rushed into the house and the moment I got in, I collapsed on the couch and took deep and prolonged breaths.

"Close call" I mumbled as I rolled over to my side and picked the book off the floor, "there you are!" I mumbled and opened up to the page that had the drawing on it.

I slowly sat up on the couch and softly ran my hands on it, I stared at the words written in italics under the drawing and furrowed my brows, it was written in Latin and I don't understand Latin.

Apprehension filled me up when I thought the other pages would be written in Latin as well and I immediately flipped over to the next page to check. I heaved a sigh of relief when I saw that it was written in English, "thank the heavens" I mumbled and placed my hand on my chest.

"I would read you, later!" I mumbled and closed the book, "first I have to do something for someone" I stood up and stretched before I walked into the kitchen and threw the apron on.

I wanted to make a nice meal for Drystan in the morning, but unfortunately, I made a pot of charcoal. I glanced at the pot I used in the morning, which was now filled with water, and shook my head, I'd decided I'll make another dish for him before he gets back. "Let's make rice and chicken" I exclaimed and rubbed my hands together and started bringing out all the ingredients I'd need for it and when it was complete, I began cooking.

It was a hard task for me because I rarely cook, not because I can't, but because it's simply annoying with all the sweating, washing, and extraness, and that's why a proud smile graced my face as I stared at my pot of properly cooked rice and chicken garlic. "Okay, this is good! I'm just going to freshen up and wait for him" I covered the pot and pulled off my apron, and was about to run out of the kitchen when I mistakenly hit the pot and everything toppled over, "nooo!!" I yelled and tried to catch the pot, but I was a tad bit late because everything was now on the floor.

"God! No!" I yelled and dropped to my knees as I stared at the food on the floor, "I worked so hard on this" I sniffled and a teardrop rolled down my face as I stared at my now wasted meal.

"What are you doing on the floor?" I heard Drystan ask and I whipped my head towards him, and his eyes widened slightly, "why are you crying?" He panicked and made to run towards me but he quickly halted when he saw the heap of rice and chicken on the floor. He looked at the rice then back at me before he squeezed his way away from the rice and knelt beside me "what happened?" He asked and cradled my face, "did you get hurt?" He asked again and I shook my head, but tears rapidly rolled down my face. "I made the rice for you because the pasta got burnt in the morning and I badly wanted to make something for you" I choked out and he glanced at the rice, then back at me "it was already done and it tasted really good, but I mistakenly hit it and everything fell to the floor!" I wailed and he immediately cradled my head to his chest.

"That's okay! That's okay" he murmured while he gently patted my back, "you know, that's okay! I can always eat it from the floor" he said and my eyes widened, "some parts didn't touch the floor and I'm sure they are edible"

"But that's not healthy, you can't do that!" I said and looked up at him.

"Who said I can't? I'll get the spoons" He said and before I could stop him, he already got the spoons and sat back down on the floor.

He took a spoonful and glanced at me, "you're welcome to join me" he mumbled as he shoved the spoon into his mouth, and my lips dropped open when he did that, "mhm... You didn't tell me you were such a good cook!" He moaned and shoved another spoonful into his mouth and I burst into laughter.

"You're seriously eating that?"

"Well... if it wasn't filled with sand it would have made a great dish" he frowned as he swallowed the food and I burst into laughter.

"Thank you for doing that tho," I said gratefully and he beamed at me.

"That's nothing." He said and gave me a side hug, "what do you say we clean this up and then cook something together?" He suggested and my face brightened up even more. "Sounds good!" I agreed and kissed his cheek.
