His Alpha Female
Chapter 38

"What do you mean, Elphaba?" I asked and she walked over to the couch and sat down beside me, then placed the book back in my hand.

"I think without your wolf, you fail to realize you will soon be the Luna to a pack and that before you let your emotions get the best of you." She paused and placed two fingers on my forehead, "you ought to think first!" She said and then removed her fingers. I frowned and rolled my eyes at her, "I know, Elphaba, but some things just don't make sense!" I exclaimed, and opened to the page I was previously reading, "I mean, what on Earth do they mean by..." She immediately cut me off by grabbing my jaw softly and slowly raised my head to meet her eyes.

"Calm down and read that again, Selene. Nothing is confusing about what has been written, you are a child of prophecy, you have a role to fulfill, and instead of whining, spend your time thinking of how to fulfill the role you were born for!"

I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, then slowly bobbed my head, "you're right, I now have a slight clue on who I am and what I'm meant to do. But that only raises more questions for me, like why did my Birthmark disappear? Who is the moon goddess's beloved? How do I accept myself and get my wolf back? What business do I have with the so-called beloved of the moon goddess?" I ranted and she smiled at me.

"One step at a time, Selene. This is something you'll figure out if you calm down and think, this is your fight and I can't keep helping you" she breathed out and I sighed.

"One step at a time" I repeated and took a moment to think. A smile immediately appeared on my face as an idea popped into my mind and I snapped my fingers excitedly, "and first things first is to know how I'll accept who I am and get my wolf back." I squealed and she beamed proudly at me, "but how do I do that?" I furrowed my brows and turned to Elphaba again, but she was already on her feet and was walking out of the apartment.

"You are holding the answers in your hand, Selene." She mumbled and I glanced at the book that was settled on my lap, then immediately whipped my head up to smile at her but as always, she was already gone.

I shook my head but a smile rested easy on my face, "thank you, Elphaba" I mumbled and flipped over to the next page of the book in search of answers, but I frowned when I realized the next pages of the book about the birthmark were ripped off and only a few letters could be seen on the remaining parts of the pages, "what the heck!" I cursed under my breath as I stared at the ripped pages.

"What am I going to do now?" I asked and flipped over to the next page but it had nothing to do with the birthmark. I sighed and then turned back to the page that had the drawing of the birthmark and my attention was immediately drawn to the writing under the drawing.

"Unum in pace vitam et mortem" I mumbled incorrectly as I tried to read out the writing, it was my only clue on figuring out how to unravel this mystery and now that I think about it, it's not so hard to figure out. A big smile appeared on my face and I immediately rushed to my room and got my phone, Google has made everything in this era easier and I don't know why I didn't think of that earlier.

I immediately typed in the words in the search bar and a bunch of links popped up, and I smiled in gratification, "easy peasy!" I whispered as I stared at the tons of links waiting to be opened, and best of all, the translation of the sentence was there as well and my smile widened even more.

"One at peace with life and death" I read out slowly and cocked my head to the side, "does that mean I'm immortal?" I asked and let out a laugh at my foolishness, "we'll get back to this later!" I scrolled away from the translation and tapped on the first link below the translation.

"That's a lot of information" I gasped when the link loaded and I was taken to a page that had at least 2000 words written on it about the sentence, but just as I was about to read up what was written, my phone started ringing.

My nose scrunched up in confusion when I saw the caller and I immediately picked up, "Hey Rissa, is everything okay?" I asked as soon as I picked up the call. "Get to the hospital right now, Drystan blacked out again!"

My breath hitched and my vision went black the moment I heard what she said, and in a moment I was out of the house and was full-on sprinting in an unknown direction with the phone still clutched to my ear, "how do I get to the hospital from here?" I rasped out when I realized I didn't even know where I was going and I heard shuffling from the other side of the phone

"Just wait right there, I'll pick you up," she said and hung up, while I slowly came to a halt. There was nothing else I could do apart from pacing around and hoping my heart doesn't break out of my chest with how fast it was beating.

My palms were sweating and I couldn't bring myself to be still, images of him the last time he blacked out before me, had clouded my mind the moment I heard Clarissa say he blacked out again and all I could think of was the worse, and the only thing that would put me at ease would be seeing him, "hurry up please!" I pleaded in a cracked voice as I kept looking out for Clarissa, "please!" I rasped out and as if the goddess took pity on me, I heard the engine of a car drawing closer to me and I ran forward till I was right in front of the car.

"Shit!" Clarissa cursed and immediately held the brake, "Selene! I could have knocked you over!" She yelled the moment I hopped into the car, but that was the least of my worries.

"But you didn't, so please go!" I urged and sympathy flashed through her eyes before she nodded and reversed the car. "What happened to him? Is he okay? It's not so bad is it?" I blurted out the moment the car got moving in the hospital direction, I hoped I'd be able to keep the questions in till I got to the hospital but that proved difficult because the only thing that could keep me from imagining the worse, for now, was answers.

Clarissa glanced at me and immediately looked away without giving me an answer and my heartbeat quickened, "Clarissa?" I called out and I heard her take a sharp intake of breath and my heart leaped out of my chest, "is.." I paused and gulped, "is he okay?" I choked out and she shook her head.

"He didn't look okay, Selene." She mumbled and my breath hitched "this is the worse he's been in ages. He looks pale, and his heartbeat is not strong. The pack doctor said it's not a normal Werewolf problem and the only thing he can do is give him a bed in the hospital. He looks like he's dying, Selene" she paused and took a shaky breath, "I'm scared we are going to lose him" she whispered and glanced at me with teary eyes.
