Lucinda

POV

When she walked out the front doors James in front of her and Kevin next to her, his hand was on the small of her back. She knew why his hand was on her, keeping her calm and under his control and moving towards the pack-house to Lindy's office and her destination. A place she really didn't want to go, now that the time had come. He was using his Gamma Charm to make her and she knew it could feel it all around her.

Stepping outside for the first time, the sun was up and she found herself standing on the top step looking at the White Lotus Pack's women and children. All of them. They were all looking up at her. They looked tired and emotionally rung out, she thought. Much like herself at this moment. She saw many of them had tears in their eyes. Then all their heads bowed down, and she heard some of them start to cry.

She had left them and for what? Nothing, it seemed.

"I'm sorry I left you." she told them, sadness tinging her every word. She allowed herself a moment to pull herself together, "It will not happen again." She told them in a resolute tone of voice. She was never going to leave them again.

She had told herself she would never leave her home pack. But here she was, taken away from it. The place was no more and here her women and children were. They had happy lives here, perhaps it was time to let it all go. Really be a member of this pack, accept it deep inside her heart. Let the White Lotus go. It had been destroyed long ago and there was nothing left. But here there was a whole pack. A place for them. Safe now forever.

She stepped down to her women and children. Zoe, one of the oldest women here, touched her arm gently. "Is it true?" she asked "is that Alpha...D...Darwin dead?" his name hard to speak after the pain he had caused her. Caused them all. Lucinda put her hand on Zoe's and looked right at her, then looked out over her woman and children. "Yes." she told them "Ky'ra killed him."

She would not take credit for his death, it had not been by her hands, like she had always imagined, putting an arrow right into that man's heart and standing over him to watch him die. It had been by Ky'ra's claws and jaws. A bloody battle to the death. "You are all safe now." she told them as she walked among them. Some of them were reaching out to touch her, she let them. Returned their touch and bowed her head to them. "Never again will you have to fear, that he will come for you, or your children." Lucinda was standing in the middle of all of them now, allowed her Luna's aura to fill her and closed her eyes. "Never again." she promised them.

Allowed herself to just stand amongst her people, be their Luna for likely the last time. "I just did my duty as your Luna," she told them. Took a deep breath and looked over them. All eyes were on her, she saw hope in them for the first time. Hope of a brighter future for them all, their lives filled with fear once, now that fear could leave them, and they could all, move on.

"I am the very last Luna, of the White Lotus Pack." felt pain touch her heart with the finality of her words, there would never be another. She knew pain was touching their hearts too, could see the sadness in their faces for their lost home.

A place that had been peaceful and beautiful to live in.

Watched as they all sank down on to their knees and bowed low, she waited for them to lift their eyes back to her. Bowed back to them all "Please get up." she encouraged them "You need not bow to me anymore. It is over."

Lucinda watched as they stood up, as they all stepped aside for her to pass through the crowd. Kevin fell in step with her once she had passed them, James was on her other side. She actually did feel a little bit lighter now. Knowing that Darwin was dead. Being able to tell them this and bring them some piece of mind, safety and security for their future. Saw the relief and the hope for their future. On their faces helped her to feel the weight of the burden she had carried all this time, ease off of her. They could all let go of their fear of being found. Move on with their lives. Be at peace. What she would do? Was still unclear, even to herself at this time, but seeing as she had survived. She would have to figure it out, she supposed. Stopped walking, turned her face up to the sky and closed her eyes. Felt tears well in her eyes and let them fall, for her lost home. For all those she had lost, unable to be save. Sent up a prayer to the goddess to let all those lost, to be at peace now. Finally, able to rest with the knowledge she had done her duty to them.

Taken on the role gifted to her, and filled her duty as the last Luna to ever grace the lands that were the White Lotus Pack, and had avenged their deaths. Told her Luna and Alpha, she had saved their baby girls and protected them as she had promised she would. Neither James or Kevin interrupted her, or tried to contain her emotions in anyway, they just stood by her side and allowed her a moment to grieve all she'd lost that day, she supposed. When her eyes opened she was looking right at the pack-house. Took slow but steady steps towards it. The day was not done yet.

Her heart was getting heavier with every step that she took, for even though what she had already felt and gone through, she still knew this was going to hurt. Had heard how much it hurt by others, she was not particularly looking forward to the pain she knew was coming. How could she? No one would, no matter the circumstances.

Lucinda could smell him, before she could see him. Stumbled to a stand still on the first floor landing, before even coming to Lindy's office, her door she could see stood open. Could already feel waves of pain starting to roll through her. She suddenly didn't know if she could do this. Come face to face with him.

"I'm right here." she heard Kevin tell her calmly his hand was on her back "I promise not to leave."

Lucinda nodded, but her feet seemed to be glued to the floor, they didn't want to move her any closer than she already was. Even when Kevin nudged he slightly, she baulked and shook her head. Not ready to go in there. To see him, his scent was strong around her, she knew he was in there.

"Breathe...just breathe Lucinda." Kevin spoke softly to her, his calming aura coming off of him and directed at her. James had moved to the open office door, his eyes were on him. The bruise and his split lip were still there for her to see.

She was going to have to apologise for that, and to Gabby too, for injuring her Mate.

Goddess only knew how long it actually took her to take that first step forward. It felt like a lifetime to her, time meant nothing to her right this minute. She was trying to breathe slowly, kept her eyes firmly on James as she walked to the open door, focused on him and only him. He never took his eyes off of her, like he knew she needed it. To focus on something else right this minute.

The minute she turned and stepped into Lindy's office, her eyes found him. He stood over by Lindy's desk, his eyes were on her. He didn't look happy, but neither did she. She supposed. Her eyes fell away from him, she didn't want to have to look into the deepest blue eyes she'd ever seen, drown in them, felt pain well almost instantly.

Felt Kevin's hand on her back and started rubbing the small of her back "Breathe." he told her and guided her over to the couch in Lindy's office and sat her down.

Lucinda could feel his eyes on her, wanted him to just look away, anywhere else in the room to be honest. Lindy sat down next to her and took her hand in hers. "I need you to watch something, before anything else happens in this office."

"Does, h...he have to be here?" she didn't look at Lindy, knew if she looked up she would see him. Her eyes would replace him and one look had been enough already. "I guess not. Though he would like to be here, Lucinda." Lindy told her softly.

"I'll go." she heard his deep voice and tried to steel herself against it "Come back, when she is ready. I don't want to upset her anymore than she already is." "Don't go far Nick," Lindy told him. "Just outside please."

Why did he say that? That he didn't want her to upset her anymore. Why did he even care? If she was upset or not! He walked past her, his scent so strong to her, she closed her eyes and bit her lip in a bid to stop herself from looking at him. A part of her still wanted to see him. How she could still want that? She didn't know, had to be the Mate Bond. He was supposed to be the other half of her soul, a part of her she craved.

On the table in front of her was placed a lap top, it was already on a paused screen, she recognised Nick's office, and him sitting in his office chair. Turned her face away from it.

"It's okay." Kevin told her "I won't leave." his hand was in hers.

"Why do I need to watch this?" she asked, not understanding.

"To show you what really happened. It wasn't just you who got hurt that day." Lindy told her softly "I need you to watch, all of it. Then Kevin and Jeremy can answer any questions afterwards and Nick."

"I don't..." she could feel the pain, even just trying to say his name hurt.

"Shh." Kevin was rubbing his thumb over the back of the hand he was holding. "Watch it for me." he encouraged her, not that she was going to have a choice he was making her, he leaned forward and started the footage.

Lucinda had no idea what she was supposed to be watching, but recognised Valerie the moment she stepped into frame, wanted to look away instantly. "Watch." she heard Lindy. All her Luna Aura fell on Lucinda to make her watch. She was a strong Luna indeed. The camera angle was a full view of Nicks' office, the camera situated from behind his desk.

Saw with her own eyes as that she-wolf stumble into his office, looked to be bleeding down her neck, latch onto Nicks arm and then stab him with something. Saw Nick recoil away from her, stagger about fall down onto his knees. Felt anger start to well in her, she had attacked her own Alpha. Watched as Nick fell all the way to the floor and lay there so still. She knew at that moment he had not been able to move.

Felt rage start building inside of her. "Calm down." Kevin told her, his thumb sliding back and forth along the back of her hand. She was gripping his hand so tightly, the other was balled into a fist. Felt Ky'ra suddenly move inside her mind. Her large head snapped up and a low menacing growl issued inside her mind. Lucinda's rage had filtered into her wolf and woken her. It was what had woken her when she'd come face to face with Darwin too, her rage.

Lucinda's breathing had quickened as she watched as that she-wolf started to assault her Mate, shot to her feet, as Ky'ra stalked forward in her mind, her ears back on her head snarling a ball of anger and fury.

"Lucinda calm down." Kevin tried to reach her, it was already too late and she knew it felt all her claws rip out of her, felt them slice right through his hand in hers, the sickening c***k of the bones in his hand as they were being broken under the force of her grip. Ky'ra was coming now fast and furious, all aggression pouring from her.

"OUT." she heard Kevin yell from next to her, as he ripped his hand from her grip. Felt his skin tear and rip as he pulled out of her crushing grip, freeing himself from her.

Lucinda's eyes were still on the screen, Ky'ra was now right there up front and staring at the screen herself, rage was pouring off of her beast as they watched another she-wolf assaulting their incapacitated Mate.

A massive angry snarl ripped out of her wolf as she stared at the screen and saw that b***h try to make their Mate, Mark her. Pressing her neck to his mouth, he couldn't even move to defend himself. Pain ripped at their very souls. It was the thing they hated most in this world. Someone forcibly trying to mate another, taking what does not belong to them for their own sick, selfish needs and wants.

The minute they saw Jeremy rip that bloody b***h off of their Mate, Ky'ra kicked the table so hard it launched clear across the room, she was ripping into everything, tearing at the walls and furniture, throwing everything she could get her hands on, snarling and growling. Slammed herself against the door to try and get out of the room. It would not budge at all. Scratched and clawed at it. Nothing was happening, wood peeled off the door to reveal steel underneath. She banged into it several more times but it would not give way.

She turned and ripped at the other doors, wanting out of this room to destroy anything and everything in her way to get to that she-wolf and kill her. The windows in the room were all sealed over, they'd locked the office down. It seemed. On some level, deep beneath her anger, Lucinda knew Corey had taken in what happened to her pack and updated his to protect it. He would not allow anyone to get to his Luna. Her office was a fortress, nothing in or out without him or Lindy unlocking it. They were not getting out of this office unless one of them let her out.

Ripped the curtains off the windows and smashed the glass and up turned the heavy desk before coming to a stand still in the middle of the room. Her breathing coming in hard gasps, as she stared at nothing, their happiness had been ruined, turned to turmoil and filled with pain and anguish and for what?

She sank down on her knees and tears flowed from her eyes, buried her face in her hands and sobbed as Ky'ra receded and curled into a ball of pain inside her mind.
