Nick

POV

Nick knew that Lucinda was out there, could hear Kevin trying to keep her calm and get her into the same room as him. He knew that Lucinda would be able to smell him, he'd come through the pack-house before her, had seen her standing in the middle of the road looking up at the sky, he'd thought, had linked Kevin about it, who'd told him she needed a minute and had been with her women and children and was grieving the loss of her pack.

He'd walked in ahead of her, she would have smelled him the minute she fell onto the same path he had taken. He could smell her from here, where he stood beside Lindy's desk. It was as far from the door as he could get. But still he knew she was out there. James was standing by the open door clearly watching Kevin try to coax her into the room, a place that she clearly didn't want to be. It looked like she had tried to take a piece of the man, a bruise on her jaw and a split lip. his wolf had yet to heal him, probably letting it go for now, knowing his Gamma Charm needed his entire focus.

Nick had heard Lucinda's reply to Lindy last night, she thought she was coming here for a formal rejection. Lindy had not told her any differently either. He'd noted. Perhaps she thought this was the easiest way to get Lucinda into a room with him. He had frowned at Lindy when she'd come out of the room, she'd just held up a hand to him and shook her head at him, then walked out of the hospital.

Nick had to trust her, in knowing what she was doing. She knew Lucinda better than he did.

Nick was standing there desperately holding onto the knowledge that it was all going to be okay, once she saw the security footage from his office, that she would actually understand and accept that he had not done anything to her on purpose. He had not hurt her intentionally.

Rip was in his mind, prowling around now, his tail flicking back and forth, anxious it seemed. Ky'ra his Mate may be gone. But it seemed he was also attached to Lucinda. Had actually verbally claimed the woman before Nick had himself. It seemed Rip wanted Lucinda as well, even if Ky'ra was no more, Lucinda it seemed was Rips as far as his wolf was concerned, as much as Ky'ra had been.

Nick wanted Lucinda, regardless as to if she was now wolf-less herself. He didn't care about that. He loved her and only her. No other would ever do. He and Rip would miss Ky'ra and her naughtiness, but they would hold her forever in their hearts, but they were not about to loose Lucinda. No way in hell.

She finally appeared in the doorway, her eyes met his instantly, it took all of three seconds for her to look away, to hurt by what she thought he had done. He felt Jeremy's hand on his shoulder 'Just breathe!' came down the mind-link 'it will all be fine. But would it? Was the damage and pain too great for her to get past? They had not exactly had the greatest relationship to start with. Trust was a big issue with her and right now she had zero for him.

The blue dress she was wearing covered most of her wounds, but could not hide the bite they had taken from Darwin to her face. Her bruising was a little less now than yesterday, the last time he'd laid eyes on her. Tried to give her space to work through her mind as Jeremy had told him too. Hadn't gone far though.

He had seen her like this before. In all probability, it wouldn't be the last time either. She was to head strong, he thought, as Kevin walked her into the room and guided her onto the couch in Lindy's office.

Alpha Corey, Luna Lindy, James and Kevin, along with Jeremy and himself the only other people in the room. No-one could predict how she was going to react, when coming into a direct line of sight of him, or having to be in the same room as him, so caution was being taken. Alpha Corey's unit was down the hall as was her retrieval team, in case she lost it and they couldn't contain her, he guessed.

The minute he had laid his eyes on her, he had wanted to shove everyone out of the way and pull her into his arms, hug her, tell her that he loved her, that it would all be alright but couldn't, knew it was likely to start a full on fight, him touching her right this minute was a no go. Lindy had told him not to, best to wait for her to absorb the news.

Lindy had already informed him, she was on the retrieval team because of how much Lucinda hated wolves who took what was not theirs, for themselves. That it stemmed from her having to watch Alpha Darwin try to forcibly mate her previous Luna, and she'd had to kill her, an innocent woman, to stop it from happening, that the bastard had gotten away with it.

That it was likely, that her watching this footage could trigger her into a complete rage. Though without Ky'ra, they should be able to contain her with the use of both Gamma's. Until her rage was over and then he could try and approach her.

When Lucinda asked Lindy if he had to be in here, he could hear how hurt she was, he didn't actually need to be in the room for her to watch the horrid act of another wolf drugging him and trying to forcibly mate his incapacitated body.

Stepped out of the room. If it was all he could do for her, then he would do it. Lindy had told him not to go far. Not that he would anyway, couldn't, didn't want to be away from her. Wanted her in his arms so he could hold her and comfort her, where she belonged. With him.

Heard Kevin's southern drawl roll out of him telling her to calm down. He had actually managed to get her to watch it, it seemed, and she was feeling angry about what she was seeing. He was only a dozen paces away from the door. "Lucinda, calm down." he heard Kevin again. Stopped pacing and stared at the open office door.

Heard Alpha Corey swear as Kevin yelled for every one to get out, Lindy was shoved out the door quite violently by James, Corey hot on his heels. Jeremy and Kevin followed. As he heard a massive snarl, so full of aggression, come from the room. 'Ky'ra. Rip cried out inside his mind. Nick was moving towards the door instantly.

Kevin yanked it shut and was actively holding it closed. "Lock it down," he snapped.

"Wait," Nick snapped.

"No." everyone yelled at him.

Nick watched as Corey locked the room down, as though Lindy was on the inside and he was trying to keep her safe from harm.

"Ky'ra boss. Very angry. Fury is what I felt." Kevin looked at him, letting go of the door finally, now it was locked down.

Nick could see blood dripping from the man's hand. Ky'ra had emerged and, from what he could now hear, was in a full rage inside that room. Probably not unlike the one he and Rip had been in, in their suite, after he had dealt with the traitors. "You need medical attention." Nick could see as he looked at Kevin's hand he'd had to pry his hand from hers, her claws, it was clear, had been out, likely the poor man was going to need surgical intervention. To fix some of that.

"Feels like she broke every bone boss." Kevin nodded, sounded like he was in great pain.

"I'll take him to the pack hospital." Lindy offered. "It's up to you now Nick, when she calms down."

He nodded "Might take a minute." he agreed and watched as Kevin was walked away, blood dripping from his hand. He hoped it was fixable. Phoebe was going to beat him one, he supposed.

It was more than a minute and he could hear her bouncing off of the door at one point. His suite's door had not stood up to Ky'ra, had not survived her attacking it when she had been like this, he bit his lip and pushed everyone back and out of the way. "Fully reinforced steel, Nick. Nothing in or out, I assure you." Corey told him.

Nick turned and looked at him.

"No-one will ever hurt Lindy. I installed it after what happened in the White Lotus Pack." "Escape tunnel?"

"Yes," Alpha Corey nodded, "one of those too, and all the Alpha unit and their Mates have access to it."

Nick's attention was returned to the room and the noise coming from it. He just had to wait it out now. It seemed Ky'ra had not gone altogether, was just buried so deep down inside of Lucinda's mind that no-one had been able to sense her. He wondered if Lucinda thought her wolf had been gone as well. Or if she had been able to sense Ky'ra somewhere inside of her.

It took nearly an hour for the room to become quiet and no more destruction could be heard coming from inside it. He looked at Alpha Corey.

"You're paying for a full remodel, you know that right," Corey told him.

Nick waved him off "fine.", heard the lock down release and took a deep breath in, long and slow. Then opened the door to look at the destruction and see where she was. Lucinda was kneeling in the middle of the room amongst the debris, the room was as destroyed as their own suite was right that minute.

'They have a temper like we do. Rip told him.

'I know. Nick half smiled to himself, the two of them running their pack would be a real force to be reckoned with. Once, she took her rightful place as his Luna.

He looked at her, kneeling there with her face in her hands, sobbing uncontrollably. A lot to take in. Nick closed the door behind him quietly. He didn't want to startle her. He walked across the room, picking his way through the debris. She didn't even move, didn't seem to even register that he was in the room with her.

He sank down in front of her, also on his knees "Lucinda?" his voice was soft again, not wanting to startle her, still nothing, maybe too far gone. He didn't know, prayed that she wasn't too far gone. Reached out a hand to touch her, pushed back a few loose strands of her hair, her pony tail was gone and her hair was loose now, tucked it back behind her ear gently.

Her eyes moved to his finally, those beautiful, honey-brown eyes filled with tears, looked right at him, more tears spilled down her face. He noted Ky'ra was already healing her, the purple of her bruises already starting to fade away.

Then she was on him, practically knocked him over, her arms were outstretched and reaching for him, she pushed herself up onto her feet and wrapped herself around him, arms around his neck, legs around his waist, clinging on to him. Holding him so very tightly. Nick closed his eyes and wrapped his arms around her, hugged her to him.

"I'm sorry," he whispered.

Felt her bury herself in his neck and just sob some more. So he just stayed there with his eyes closed and held her till she stopped. This was not the first time he had held his, Mate sobbing in his arms, but he was praying it would be the last time.

Didn't know when she stopped or how long it took, just felt something change in her body language. Felt Rip come forward to try and take control of him, and only then realised it was Ky'ra in his lap, she was rubbing her head against him, it was not something Lucinda would do. Rip was all excited in his mind, and more than just at the thought of his Mate returning.

Nick leaned back to look at her and gasped as pain suddenly shot through his neck. He felt her fangs sink deep into his flesh, groaned as he held on to her, she was Marking him. Pain smashed him as her fangs hit bone and he could swear he felt the bone c***k as her fangs bled her venom into him. Then just pleasure was coursing through his body. Goddess he was hot all over and turned on wanted her right here in the rubble of the room. Marked by his Mate. Her wolf, but hell he didn't care. Lucinda might but it was happening.

Rip was scratching furiously at his mind. Roaring at him to Mark her back. Nick could still feel her mouth hot on his skin, there were sparks flying along his Mark spot, he could actually feel her Mark as it was appearing on his skin, it was making him all hot and wanton.

The minute it was completed, Rip shoved forward, Nick didn't even question his wolf, who he knew was going to Claim his Mate for himself. Took less than 2 seconds for Rip to slam his fangs into the side of Ky'ra's neck, bury them deep into her flesh as she had done him. He was growling the whole time, holding her body to theirs, pushing down hard, Marking her deep. His Mark for all to see, forever his Mate now.

The connection Nick felt of his wolf to hers was strong and they both growled "Mine." greeting each other. Now able to communicate and talk to each other anytime they wanted to, much the same way a mind-link worked. 'Mate now.' Nick heard Rip snarl at his mate, all needy and aggressive.

Heard Ky'ra in his mind, oh that was weird 'you'll have to catch me first.' she openly teased her Mate.

'In our pack, I will hunt you good. Mate you good. Rip told her.

Nick was given back control of his body. Hearing them talk to each other would take some getting used to, he thought.

"Lucinda?" he asked quietly.

"Yes, Nick." she answered him, and hugged him.

He sighed softly, she was alright, didn't sound as though she was in any pain anymore either.

"I'm sorry," he told her, and he truly was. What she'd been through he wouldn't wish on his worst enemy.

"Did you kill her, or can I do it?"

"She's dead, Rip took her head clean off."

That made her lean back and look at him questioningly. It was good to see her, able to look at him without all that pain in her eyes. No longer thought he'd hurt her.

"I invoked rule number 1." He didn't smile, had never wanted to invoke it.

"Oh" he had told her the number one rule.

"You can watch it for yourself, if you want to. A public execution."

Saw her eyes go wide. She had known the penalty was death, but not by public execution. He'd left that part out, didn't think it was necessary to tell her, had never thought he'd have to invoke it.

"Do you want to watch it?" he asked, it might make her feel a bit better.

"No, not really." she shook her head slowly. He saw her eyes move to his neck.

"Your wolf did that." he teased her gently.

"I know." she reached out to touch it.

"Might not want to do that, or you'll..." he growled at her softly.

She actually smiled up at him, he didn't need to finish the sentence. The last time she'd touched him there they'd ended up Mated.

"It's white."

"What is white?" he asked, a bit confused.

"Your Mark, not silver. It's white."

That surprised him, slid his eyes down her neck, growled a little at the thought of wanting to put his mouth there, he still wanted to have her, right here and now. Felt her whack him gently. Her Mark was also white, very pretty against her skin. He liked it a lot, could swear in that filigree there was a lotus flower. Smiled "So is yours," he told her.

"We really need to talk to Nick....." she sighed.

"I know who you are, Lucinda. Figured it out all on my own. My Luna's already a Luna, huh!"

She nodded up at him, "My people are all here Nick."

He nodded, that he also knew "They are all welcome in our pack, we'll take them home with us."

"Where will they stay?" he could hear the worry in her voice. Worry there was no room.

He laughed softly "My dear...we have a whole 1st floor, full of empty rooms, plenty of room for all of them, and we could build them homes, while they settle in." He reached up and touched her face, brushing the rest of her hair from her face. Really any excuse to touch her was good enough for him at the moment.

"Ky'ra is very happy."

"I know I can hear her. Already tormenting Rip." he smiled

"She's just a puppy, Nick."

Nick snorted and then burst out laughing "Oh no she is not...she is playing you. Come on, everyone is waiting on the outcome."

He stood up still holding her, she was still wrapped completely around him. Like it. Slid her body down his slowly, growled as he enjoyed the feel of it, something he was going to enjoy for hundreds of years to come.

"Crap." he heard her suddenly say, and looked down at her as they picked their way across the room.

"What's wrong?" he asked her.

"Nothing. Not really. I just didn't get my case of pink gin is all."

He was confused. "What?"

"Oh, if I told Alpha Corey I was going to let you Mark me, he could allocate that day to himself in the bet and therefore win it. And he was going to give me a case of his pink gin for my part..."

"You and he were cheating?"

"Mm," she shrugged, "I like the pink gin."

Nick shook his head. He couldn't believe it. "You were actually in on the bet."

"Why not, how could I loose?" she smiled up at him.

Nick shook his head 'My dear, I'm pretty sure you did just loose it."
