I Made A Deal With The Devil -
Chapter. 26
"I can't touch you while I'm warming your bed, remember?" Eva kindly offered to remind him.
"I remember. But you're still too far."
She sighed and could only obey his request and wriggled a little closer to his direction. After all, he was the one who had the upper hand in their contract.
"Closer." He demanded and she glared at him, only to see that his eyes were closed. Huh?! How did he know how far she was from him? This guy can even sense when people are near or far from him? Eva raised a brow at him. "You're not actually doing this on purpose so that I would end up breaking one of the conditions are you? I'm telling you now, I'm not going to fall for it." Eva insisted stubbornly, not wanting to move any nearer to him. The corner of his lips curved up, looking like what she had said really amused him. "Stop overthinking things, Eva and just relax."
Another sigh escaped from her lips, thankful that he was not insisting she move closer to him.
She could not help but feel nervous. This was her first time lying in the same bed with a man - while he was in it too - and now she could not help but feel stiff. It was funny because despite having a boyfriend and even fiancée for years, she had actually never been in a situation like this. Ever. Laughing at herself, she initially had thought that perhaps that was one of the reasons why Julian had tired of her.
There were quite a few chances where Julian could have come over to her house and slept over, but he never did that. Even though the both of them literally knew the passwords of each other's apartments. That had never bothered her before, but now that she thought more about it, she could now see all the signs telling her that Julian was just not into her like she had thought, ever since their college time.
Then she suddenly remembered how he told her that she was ugly that night.
Was she so utterly unattractive that he never even bothered to make any advances aside from the simple kisses and sending expensive gifts? She never realized how foolish she was. She had thought that the two of them were just so alike. That they were just too busy and really did not have much interest in sexual intimacy like other couples. What a laugh!
She had found out that she was so wrong in the worst way possible. It seemed like she was the only one who was not into this kind of thing. Could it be that she was an asexual? Again, she had never thought of that. Now she had realized that it might really be the case. She had liked Julian ever since high school. She had admired him. She had liked him even more in college because he had always behaved as a gentleman towards her. And she thought that she had loved him when they were engaged because he was just always so understanding. Whenever they had their once-a-month date, he always tells her that everything was okay. That everything else could wait until their wedding.
She had actually tried to talk to him about this matter, but Julian had told her that she had nothing to worry about because they were the same. That the two of them were just too busy and that it was normal for them not to be engaged in any sexual activities yet.
The foolish her of the past had fully believed that liar and swallowed his lies hook, line and sinker. Believed that he too was just not interested in it yet. Now she knew that she was the only one. Julian was actively engaging in sex with other women while she did not even think about it. That bastard!
It was making her blood boil all over again. But somehow, she was thankful that she had never lusted for him. She felt like her asexuality, or whatever this lack of interest in him sexually was, had saved her from more trouble and heartache. She could not imagine how she would feel if they had been actively intimate sexually and Julian was actually f*cking god knows how many others all those years.
Something vibrated and pulled her attention back to reality.
She immediately sat up and looked at Gage who seemed to be confused and looking for that vibrating thing.
"It's my phone. I've put an alarm in case I fall asleep while warming your bed."
He looked speechless as he watched her climb off the bed.
"Well then, goodnight, Mr. Acheron." Eva wished him and gave a perfunctory nod to him.
"Wait a moment." his voice stopped her from her tracks and turned back at him. "Don't you think you've forgotten something?"
She blinked but eventually, her eyes widened. "Oh, right?! God, I'm sorry. I totally forgot about that."
She walked back and unceremoniously leaned in to kiss him. Most probably with another punch-kiss to his lips.
But Gage smirked, stopping her before her lips could even reach his. His hands were holding her shoulders in place.
Frowning, Eva looked at him with questions in her blue eyes. "What are you doing? You can't touch me, remember?"
A ghost of an amused smile flashed across his handsome face.
"Actually, you've failed the conditions, Eva." He told her. "So I should be the one who would be doing the kissing this time."
She blinked and her body stilled for a while.
"What?!" she could feel her mind explode.
"Footnote of the term 'every night'." He stated in a matter-of-fact tone.
And Eva's eyes circled wide again, finally remembering that the term 'every night' means 'before midnight' in the contract she signed. Oh damn!!! Why the hell did she forget about that?!
