Chapter 205 Who Do You Think You Are?

Harper stayed with Paul for a long while and left after he had closed his eyes and fallen asleep.

Stepping out of the room, she immediately saw Benjamin sitting in the corridor. His face was taut, the contours of his cheeks drawn tight like a bowstring. His black suit jacket was gone, leaving him in a white shirt, the sleeve of his left arm rolled up, revealing a bruise from where Paul had struck him.

Benjamin noticed her, too, his eyes calm and detached as they met hers.

With a cynical smile, he said, "Harper, I thought you were capable of anything, insisting on a divorce regardless of the consequences. What are you doing now?"

"Why are you doing this? Just because I want a divorce, you have to go to such extremes?"

Harper's eyes narrowed, her gaze sharp and indifferent.

Benjamin looked at her coldly, his eyes deep and sad, his voice even colder and devoid of any warmth. He asked, "Do you think I'm trying to destroy everything?"

"Isn't that what this is?"

"Harper, do you really think I'd pay such a high price just for you?" Benjamin chuckled darkly, and his laughter tinged with profound sarcasm.

Harper stared at him, their eyes locked, his words growing colder. He added, "I just think if we're getting divorced, it should be a clean break. I don't want to see you or anything related to you afterward. What I'm doing now is just severing all ties early. Is this what you call being thorough?"

Benjamin glanced at her, his gaze both pale and cold, tinged with a hint of mockery.

That look seemed to tell Harper that she wasn't significant enough to warrant such drastic measures.

Harper's lips tightened as she gazed

into his deep, profound eyes. Squinting slightly, she said softly, " you just don't want to see me, you could simply tell me. I'd leave and disappear from your life forever. But why involve innocent people?"

Benjamin scoffed and stood up. He strode toward her, his deep eyes casually observing her, and asked, "Harper, who do you think you are? Why should I listen to you?"

"I'm not asking you to listen to me, and I just hope you can be reasonable and not let our issues affect others."

"I told you I'm doing this to define

our boundaries clearly. You were the

one

O said we should

eachother again after the divorce, Harper. Have you forgotten?"

Harper was the one who had said they should never meet again after the divorce, and now he was just respecting her wishes.

She watched the man before her, and for a moment, she felt he was so unfamiliar, almost to the point of being unrecognizable. This side of him was something she had never seen before.

Benjamin gave her a fleeting glance, and he said chilly, "Harper, the game has started. I gave you a chance and you

to didn't take it. Do you think I'm

too indulgent, that I'll always tolerate

your arrogance?"

Harper's lips tightened, her eyes calm and indifferent. Her voice was in a shaking voice. "Benjamin... you're... You're just insane..."

Her words were deliberate, each one dropping heavily, clearly illustrating her shattered emotions.

Benjamin, however, just smiled as if he didn't care at all. Their eyes locked, neither willing to back down.

Harper had her pride; she wouldn't beg him.

With that, anything more seemed pointless.
