Chapter 247 Surprised Paul

Benjamin's gaze softened as he spoke gently, "You should eat more". With a teasing tone, he lifted the spoon and pushed it towards his mouth. Harper frowned, taken aback by his actions. "What are you doing?" she asked. Benjamin shrugged. "What? You don't finish your food, so I am finishing for you."

His voice held a hint of mock grievance.

Blushing slightly, Harper averted her gaze, feeling flustered by his behavior.

After eating, Harper drifted off to sleep. Benjamin stayed by her side the entire time besides making a call to his grandfather.

"Grandpa, Harper is pregnant. Your wish has come true," Benjamin informed him.

"How did you know?" Paul was pretty surprised.

Sensing the subtext in his question, Benjamin questioned, "So you knew all along?"

Paul responded with a sneer, "Harper told me but not you. You should think about why she did that. Since that you know, you should treat Harper better. I do want a great-grandson, but if you can't keep Harper as your wife, your family is still broken." Feeling a surge of emotions, Benjamin fell silent, his gaze fixed on Harper as she slept peacefully. He felt an urge to wake her up and talk to her.

Meanwhile, Lily eagerly took the phone from Paul, asking about Harper and the baby. She wanted to visit Harper as if she had already given birth.

However, Benjamin didn't disclose that he was at the hospital. Instead, he tactfully diverted the conversation, saying, "Please give it a couple of days before visiting. Your current mood might overwhelm Harper."

Lily was taken aback by his response. "How can you say that?" she retorted.

"You're too worked up. Take a moment to calm down," Benjamin advised.

Lily laughed at him and then agreed with him, "Take good care of her, or you'll regret it."

After the call concluded, Lily turned to Paul with a mix of frustration and curiosity. "Dad, why didn't you inform me? You and Harper kept this wonderful information behind the rest of us. Why did you do that?"

Paul coughed awkwardly, while Scott intervened to prevent further probing.

However, Harper's pregnancy was good news that was worth celebrating for the entire family. They didn't mind knowing it earlier or later.

Meanwhile, in the dimly lit hospital room, Harper awakened to the realization that Benjamin was already aware of her pregnancy.

Her mind was conflicted about their relationship.

She refused to continue an empty marriage solely for the children.

"No.

I won't do that for my kid," Harper thought.

Her eyes sparkled with determination as she conveyed her resolve.

Benjamin's voice broke the silence, gently asking, "Are you hungry? What would you like to eat?"

Harper met his gaze calmly,

affirming, "Benjamin, you don't need to stay by my side constantly. I'm fine, just a bit tired. My decision about our marriage won't change because you know about the baby. We can raise this kid together, just not as a couple."

She wanted to reassure him that she wanted to keep the baby.

Since she had decided to give birth to the baby, there would be no change in her mind. Benjamin sensed what she was implying.

Yet, Benjamin's eyes darkened, revealing an underlying turmoil. "DO you think I'm only here out of concern for the child?" he queried, his tone hinting at deeper emotions.
