Chapter 248 Stay in the Marriage for Child

Harper remained silent, which revealed her attitude.

Benjamin's tone was calm as he spoke, his words probing deeper. "Harper, do you think I am with you only for the child?"

Harper was frozen.

"What did he mean?

Was there something more to their relationship beyond just the child?"

Refusing to dwell on the question further, Harper simply met Benjamin's gaze in silence.

As Benjamin's demeanor softened, his voice took on a gentle timbre. "Harper, can we not divorce? Don't you want our children to grow up in a complete family?"

Harper was taken aback, her eyes wide with disbelief, momentarily speechless.

She knew Benjamin's plea stemmed from her pregnancy.

This was not what she wanted.

Harper wavered, caught between conflicting emotions. A sense of loss crept over her.

If this conversation had occurred before she filed for divorce, when illusions about their marriage still lingered, perhaps Benjamin's words would have brought her joy.

But not anymore.

Harper's inner turmoil persisted. She knew Benjamin's love for her was absent, unchangeable. Regardless of her actions, the outcome remained unchanged.

Her pride wouldn't allow her to stoop so low. She had fought hard, but the results had not aligned with her desires. Continuing to endure such humiliation before him was out of the question. Maintaining her silence, Harper offered no response. Benjamin, sensing her reluctance, smoothly diverted the conversation. "I will ask Draven to bring you some food."

Harper murmured softly in agreement, and they lapsed into a companionable silence.

Yet, despite Benjamin's attentive gestures, an inexplicable heaviness weighed on Harper's heart.

Throughout the evening, Benjamin remained by her side. "If you need anything, just call me. I'll be here," he reassured her.

Though Harper wished to protest, the words remained unspoken as she nodded in acknowledgment.

After she took the shower, Harper found Benjamin engrossed in a work-related phone call.

His expression was tense and his tone was sharp with a grim look.

After hanging up, he placed a cup of warm water on the bedside table and spoke softly, "I need to handle something at work. You can watch TV for a while. If you're tired, feel free to rest."

"Okay," Harper replied quietly.

As Benjamin settled on the sofa to work, Harper couldn't help but observe his tired demeanor, his furrowed brow betraying his exhaustion.

After a moment of hesitation, she spoke up, "Benjamin, is there anything going wrong?"

"Hmm? Just some issues with the new project and the start of our new media entertainment department. It's a bit complicated," he explained patiently. Harper acknowledged his capabilities.

But still, she suggested, "Why don't you go back? The doctor said I'm fine. It's not convenient for you to work here, and you won't get a good rest at night. I'll be okay alone. I can call the nurse if needed."

Benjamin's gaze lingered on her, his expression calm as he replied, "Do you think I would leave you alone?"

"I'm not a helpless child. I just need some rest, but I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself," Harper insisted.

"You may not be a child, but you're carrying one. If you feel burdened think of it as me staying to care for

the child," Benjamin coun Care for

firmly, his conviction unwavering.

Of course, his decision to stay was not caused by the child. Harper furrowed her brow, unable to comprehend his insistence.
