As she descended the stairs, the small living room had been suppliedwith with tea, coffee, and breakfast for Zoe.

Carly was quite observant.

Seeing Zoe in good spirits, she felt annoyed.

"Mrs. Zoe, how can you be so happy? You need to manage yourmarriage well. Are you just going to watch Mr. Mason fool around? Withthat woman around, don't you feel any sense of crisis?"

Zoe paid no attention to them.

Sitting at the low table, she poured herself a latte after carefulconsideration. After savoring it, she smiled.

"Are you here because of Brittany? Are you afraid that Ms. Lilith willlose Mason's favor? You should go replace Mason instead of trying to workan angle with me. After all, if I managed my marriage as well as youseem to want me to, Ms. Lilith wouldn't get any favors from Mason."Carly was momentarily speechless.

She sought Zoe because she had no other choice. She did not knowwhat would happen to their family if Mason found a new lover. Therefore, she planned to team up with Zoe to deal with Brittany beforegoing against Zoe.

Unfortunately for her, Zoe had seen through it all.

Zoe said, "I can't help you with this. I can't control my husband. Youshould go back."

Carly was a bold woman. Not only did she refuse to leave, but she alsostarted to cry and roll on the ground.

She insisted that Zoe call Mason and ask him to return to Brookesville.Mason would not even answer Lilith's call.

Zoe sighed softly.

The servant commented that this was karma.

Just when the situation became unbearable, the sound of a car camefrom the courtyard.

A servant ran over and said, "Mrs. Zoe, Mr. Mason is back.”

Lilith and her mother turned pale, especially Carly, who wished shecould disappear on the spot.

She could not let Mason know she came here. If he found out, shewould probably be skinned alive.

Outside, Mason stepped down from the shiny black RV.

He was about to go upstairs.

At this hour, he guessed Zoe had just gotten up.

However, a servant whispered to him, "Sir, Lilith and her mother arehere. They are causing a scene in the small living room with Mrs. Zoe."Mason paused, slowly took off his light windbreaker, and unbuttonedtwo buttons of his shirt. He asked in a low voice, "Lilith?"

The servant nodded.

Mason changed direction, heading towards the small living room. When he stood at the entrance, Zoe happened to look up. Herexpression was calm, not like someone dealing with her husband'smistress, but more like someone hosting an ordinary guest.

Mason would probably appreciate her composure if she were a womanin the business world, but it did not feel so pleasant when this womanwas his wife. The more composed she was, the more it seemed likeshe did not care about him.

Mason's eyes deepened.

He glanced over the mother and daughter, addressing Zoe directly,"Zoe, let's talk."

He did not call her Mrs. Lockwood, just Zoe.

There was a hint of previously unheard-of intimacy in it.

He rarely called people by their first names. Ava was an exception.

He only called Zoe by her first name when they were in bed. When hispleasure reached its peak, he would almost lose control and whisperher name in her ear.

"Zoe..."

That voice was a rare tenderness in their marriage.
