Chapter 3
During this time, I focused on recovering while awaiting the inevitable outcome. That day, after meeting Gideon, I spotted Archer and Emily embracing in a cafe. Emily wasn’t dead.
She came back.
I was a little surprised and then calmed down.
Despite anticipating it, witnessing someone presumed dead standing before me was still startling. Archer pushed Emily away in panic and raised his hands, saying, “Leila, it’s not what you think between us. Please don’t misunderstand. I just…”
Just what?
He was just overjoyed that he couldn’t help it.
I smiled and teased gently, “Congratulations, you’ve finally achieved your heart’s desire.”
Archer’s eyes revealed panic, and his hands tightly grasped me, “Leila, I…”
Emily’s beautiful eyes glistened with tears, and said pitifully, “Leila, you misunderstood. There is
nothing between me and Arch. He just got excited to learn I’m alive.”
While denying any involvement with Archer, she affectionately gripped his sleeve.
Looking at her pretentious appearance, I sighed helplessly inwardly.
Was this kind of person I lost to back then?
I was a little speechless, “Ms. Daniels, there’s no misunderstanding. You have much catching up to do after so long apart. I have something else to do. I won’t delay you for now.”
With that, I gently pulled off Archer’s arm, whispering to her, “By the way, Archer has been missing you a lot in the past few years.”
After those words, I turned and headed outside, oblivious to the displeasure on Archer’s face.
Who else would be as considerate as me?
Sparing no effort to bring together my husband and his love, there’s a place for me among the Top 10 Most Touching Global Figures.
I was surprised to see Archer in the evening. I had thought he wouldn’t return.
After all, it had been a while since they last met. They should, at the very least, console each other, speak openly, and ultimately make love.
Why did he return so soon?
Could it be that Emily has found a new love in recent years?
But that didn’t seem right.
She didn’t look like that!
Could it be…
I watched Archer’s body with intrigue.
Could it be that his sexual function failed?
He deserved it!
I teased him in my heart, but I still pretended to be a little concerned, “Why did you come back so early today? Shouldn’t you have spent time with Ms. Daniels? After such a long separation, you must have
much to talk about.”
Archer looked at me quietly, with an expression that I couldn’t understand.
He did not answer my question, but asked softly, “Leilani, why did you say that earlier?”
“What?”
“Ms. Daniels, Archer has been missing you a lot in the past few years.’
Archer imitated what I said today in a sarcastic tone with strange eyes.
I rolled my eyes and asked him, “Isn’t this what you mean?”
Archer said, “I…”
“If you don’t miss her, then what’s the point of all the torture I’ve endured in the past few years?”
I looked at him calmly, as if I really wanted a definite answer.
Archer was speechless. He closed his eyes and seemed determined, “Leila, let’s live a good life in the future and stop torturing each other.”
Torture each other?
Archer’s words almost made me burst into laughter.
I did laugh out loud, “Archer, you are the one who has been torturing me, and the one in pain has been me. How can you, the abuser, say that you want to live a good life with me?”
“Leilani, you disagreed with canceling the engagement and insisted on marrying me.”
Archer’s eyes seemed reddened, and his tone was sharp, “Now that I am willing to live a good life with you, you should be grateful.”
Archer was still so arrogant and looked down on everyone.
I calmed down, sat on the sofa, and asked curiously, “What about Ms. Daniels? Do you not want her anymore?”
Archer had a nostalgic look, and his tone was somewhat sad, “Emily is the past. She will never be with me again. So we should cherish the present.”
I found it absurd that he wanted to use his simple words to alleviate my years of suffering and
resentment.
I closed my eyes and calmed down, “Whatever, it doesn’t matter anymore.”
Archer thought I was concerned about his past with Emily, then softened his expression. He stroked my hair like coaxing a pet, “Okay, let’s not talk about her anymore. I’ll go home earlier and spend more time with you.”
I didn’t want to say anything more to Archer. Whether it’s love or hate, it didn’t matter anymore. The timing was right today.
I fetched a document from the bedroom.
I handed him the long–prepared divorce agreement, “Archer, please sign it. We can part ways in peace.”
Archer’s eyes turned scarlet at the sight of the divorce agreement I had signed before.
“Leilani, why do you want a divorce?”
He questioned me angrily, “Back then, you and my father forced me into marriage. Why do you want a divorce now? What do you take me for?”
I sat on the sofa, put the divorce agreement aside, and waited quietly for him to finish his madness. I asked, “Do you know why I want a divorce?”
Archer frowned, “Because Emily is back, and you suspect me of having an affair with her?” “No.” I replied.
“Then because of what?” he pressed.
Archer couldn’t think of any other reason for divorce except Emily.
I looked at Archer calmly, “When Derek passed away, he gave me the shares of Lopez Group. He begged me to never give up on you at any time, considering his kindness in raising me.‘ “But if I reach a breaking point before you turn thirty, I will bring up divorce.”
Archer’s face contorted, his fingers tensing.
I ignored him and continued, “Derek thinks you are 30 years old, and your temperament should be mature and stable. You will not hold on to the past and will be willing to live a good life with me.” “Now you want to live a good life with me, but times have changed. In my last days, I want to live for myself.”
At my words, Archer frowned and asked, “What do you mean by last days? What’s wrong with you?” I pretended to be calm and said, “Nothing, it’s not important. What’s important is that I want a divorce.” Archer looked at me fiercely and immediately refused loudly, “Leilani, don’t even think about divorce. We will be entangled for the rest of our lives, and no one can separate us.’

He calmed down, walked slowly to my side, and knelt on one knee, “Leilani, you must get a divorce, right?”
I said firmly, “Yes.”
“What about our child, don’t you want him either?”
