Chapter 4

My body quivered as immense hatred surged from my chest.

My child.

My poor child.

Five years ago, I was pregnant. Archer strongly disliked me then and did not want to have the child. I begged him to keep the child.

Archer seemed to have lost his mind, wrecking everything in the house.

The room was in disarray.

I hid in the corner and shivered. Archer forcibly tied me into the car and drove to the hospital.

It was only after I threatened him with shares of Lopez Group that Archer gave up the idea of forcing me to have an abortion.

He looked at me viciously, warning, “Leilani, since you want this child so much, you must protect it well. Don’t let me replace a chance, or I will kill it.”

This sentence made me nervous throughout my pregnancy, fearing that I would lose it forever if I wasn’t careful.

Maybe it was because I was overthinking during pregnancy, I had a difficult labor and heavy bleeding during delivery.

After three days in a coma, I awoke.

When I woke up, Archer told me that the child died at birth.

I didn’t believe it and thought he was lying to me.

I knelt on the ground, begged him to let me see the child.

Archer squatted in front of me and held my chin tightly, warning, “Leilani, I told you not to give me a chance, or I will kill it.”

He clapped his hands in disgust and said, “This is the price you pay for forcing me.”

Despite pleas and drastic actions, I couldn’t extract confirmation of the child’s survival. Gradually, I accepted the child’s death.

Thinking of this, I slowly closed my eyes and concealed my hatred, “The child died at birth, as you

claimed.”

Archer lowered his eyes, his tone a little flustered, “No, I lied to you. Back then, your health was frail, and you needed to recuperate. The child would have depleted your strength. I hoped for your full recovery and for us to stay together for a long time.”

What a high–sounding excuse!

Instead of that, he made me suffer pain and torture for five whole years!

That’s ridiculous!

It’s really ridiculous!

I suppressed my anger and asked, “What evidence proves the child’s survival?”
