I’m Not Yours, Alpha – Chapter 12
Aidan stood still, feeling his cheek throbbing painfully. The only sound that could be heard was the sound of falling water and their breathing.
With a trembling hand he touched the skin that was already turning red and surely, later, swollen. The metallic taste of his own b***d brushed his taste buds as a reminder of what had just happened.
-Sal,” she mumbled without looking at him.
-Aidan, honey,” Hans reached up to touch him.
He raised his hand first and put the edge of the razor on his neck.
-Sal,” he repeated again and didn’t care that the edge left a faint red line.
The beta just closed his eyes for a minute and turned away.
-I’ll let your mind calm down and then we’ll talk, you have a lot of explaining to do,” he left, slamming the bathroom door.
Aidan quickly turned off the shower and ran to the door, locking it from the inside. It wouldn’t be long before his mother came in to make a fuss, and knowing that his room didn’t have the privacy it used to, he’d rather be like this, at least until his mother got bored.
He took the towel and wrapped it around his h**s and slid out the door until he was sitting on the floor. He put his hands to his head and sighed. What had become of his life. Everything had spiralled out of control and what bothered him most was that his skin still itched in the places Dominic had touched or kissed. He couldn’t deny that it felt better than when Hans caressed him. He couldn’t imagine what it would be like if he had access to his whole body, to his insides. The thought alone made him shudder, he shook his head trying to get those thoughts out of his mind.
Sure enough, three minutes after Hans left his house the knocks on the wood and his mother’s screams rang out. And from the volume, the whole neighbourhood was sure to hear. At that point her degrading his image to a faggot, as she was calling him, was insignificant.
He must have listened to her for more than ten minutes, she wouldn’t shut up and the blows were constant until he gave up and a while later he left the house, but not before breaking more than one object on the way.
If things went on like this, his life would be an ordeal. He would have to get out of there as soon as possible. He deigned to stand up to leave when his stomach started to grumble again and he ended up in the toilet, emptying only liquid. And to top it all off, he was sick.
He struggled out of the bathroom and got dressed, leaving his hair damp. He opened the wardrobe to look for his suitcase when he looked at the time and remembered what day it was.
He cursed between his teeth. Her bag had been left in the office and she had no way of contacting anyone.
She sighed and her cheek ached. She had to do something about it, she couldn’t walk around the company with a purple mark on her face. Quickly he grabbed some makeup he always had in case of emergencies for dark circles under his eyes and concealed it as best he could, removing the part that he used more than he was used to.
He reached for some money he always kept stashed on his bedside table and changed his shoes and left the house through the back door.
His mother was supposed to be waiting for him in the living room and he wouldn’t lead with her now.
He arrived in 15 minutes and his people were waiting for him at the door.
-What’s the matter?
-We’re sorry,” one of the boys approached him almost in tears, “We’re not finished.
Aidan felt guilty. Some of the major work fell to him and by being absent, for whatever reason, they were falling behind.
-Don’t panic,” he encouraged them, “We have until 9 o’clock to submit what we’ve planned,” he walked towards the entrance followed by them, “We’ll make it,” he encouraged them as best he could, though he was the one who really needed encouragement.
Each one at his computer moved both the mouse and his fingers on the keyboard under his directions. They didn’t know how but they almost reached the deadline and the report with the proposals were ready, although Aidan found that they could be further refined, but as they were part of the outline for the final solution they could afford to refine them later.
He rummaged through his bag, which had been kept intact on his desk, and came across his credit card. Maybe she could rent it, it would be better than staying in that house for the time being.
-Headmaster, headmaster,” one of the girls called out to him, “Everything’s ready.
He looked at her and nodded.
-Thank you for your hard work.
-Headmaster, did something happen to your face,” the medium-sized woman stood in front of him and looked at him curiously.
Aidan was alarmed.
-Why do you ask?
-Your cheek looks a little swollen and I’m a woman who likes make-up and I didn’t want to be indiscreet, but, you’ve got a lot on that area today, do you…” he fell back when he saw the menacing gleam in his boss’s eyes “Excuse me, I’m leaving now”.
She turned and returned to her work station, uncomfortable.
Aidan stood up and took a breath. Apparently his mask had been discovered, make-up can hide some things but not all, and now he had to meet with his president. He clenched his hands until his knuckles turned white when Leo’s voice came through the door.
-Director, the president is waiting for you.
He swallowed hard. He would notice, he was sure he would notice.
He walked behind Leo nervously but without showing it, his mind scheming a valid justification to hide the fact of the hit but nothing came to mind. The alpha’s senses were razor sharp and he was sure he would detect even if he was lying. The click of the door opening brought him back to earth. They had arrived and Dominic was waiting for him inside the briefing room. There was no one else, at this point in the project it all fell to his department.
He walked in steadily and without looking at him. It had only been a few hours since he had slept at his place and he had left without giving him any explanation. If it wasn’t for the delivery she wouldn’t have confronted him. The man was an alpha after all.
-Good morning, President.
He looked at him from the end of the table with his arm on the table and his face in his hand.
-Leo, close the door,” he sounded annoyed and indignant, “I have important business to attend to first.
Aidan heard the door close behind him and his world came crashing down.
