Sheldon found her words hilarious. Indeed, Skylar was too young for hisbrother. She was just a little girl and had nothing in common withTobias.

There was nothing else they could talk about other than having sex.Sheldon had never seen them chatting with each other. He was alwaysthe one who kept jibber-jabbering all the time.

Right then, Tobias’ phone rang. Leaving his meal unfinished, he pickedup the car keys and instructed the maid to hand him the coat.

Claudia immediately stopped him. “What happened? Can't you leaveafter the meal?”

Tobias hesitated for a few seconds before he replied, “Something cameup. I have to head to the company. You enjoy your meal. I'll see younext week.”

Claudia called out to Tobias, but he left in a hurry without looking back.Sheldon couldn't help but whine, “Mom, why must you make him stay?I can accompany you. You're biased towards Tobias, Mom. You'realways worried about his marriage and you've never once cared aboutme. I'm not that young anymore. Don't you think I should settle downand get married?”

Claudia held her head with one hand and pinched her brows. “I hadhigh hopes for Tobias. I expect him to get married and have a childsoon. But I guess it's not going to happen. Do as you please, Sheldon.Pick a few women from our family friends and choose the one whomyou like.”

Upon hearing that, the smirk on his face faded. Sheldon cleared histhroat and asked with a serious look, “Can“t I go for the woman I like?Why must I pick one from our family friends? Those heiresses are spoiltand pretentious. We're living in modern times now. Who still caresabout social status?”

Claudia raised her volume. “Stop dreaming! I'm doing this for your owngood. Don't behave like your brother and never get yourself apromiscuous woman. I loathe those gold-diggers who are calculatingand materialistic. Just like Skylar Jones, she’s a shameless woman andhas ruined our family.

Sheldon was lost in his thoughts. Judging from Claudia’s attitudetowards Skylar, his mother would never accept Winnie. Claudia spoke ofSkylar as if the latter was an unforgivable sinner.

By the time Tobias arrived at the hospital, Skylar had undergonesurgery. She was still under observation in the operation theater.Tobias looked anxious when he arrived. Hannah didn’t expect to seehim there. If she knew Tobias would come over, she would've contactedhim in the first place.

Hannah gazed at Tobias. He was holding his black coat and talking toKate outside the operation theater.

The red light above the door was off, yet Skylar was still inside. Tobiasstarted getting worried until Kate told him that the doctor wasobserving Skylar's condition.

After Tobias found out Skylar was fine, he turned around and was aboutto leave. Kate looked at him in disbelief. She was provoked by hisreaction. She suppressed her anger towards him and kept the emotionto herself.

Kate was worried sick about Skylar, yet Tobias just took a glance at thedoor and left without looking back. He's such a cold-hearted man.Kate tactfully asked, “Mr. Ford, are you leaving now? Skylar may lookfor you after she regains her consciousness.”

With one hand in his pocket, Tobias glanced at her with acondescending sneer. “I'm heading to the counter to pay the expenses.If 1 don't do it, who will handle it for her?”

Kate realized that she had misunderstood him.
