Skylar was lying on the bed in a hospital gown. Looking at her paleface, Tobias gently asked, “Do you want to drink some water?”

Skylar shook her head and replied with her weak voice, “I can't drinkwater yet. The doctor says that I have to... pass wind.”

She lowered her head after saying that as she felt embarrassed. Tobiaslooked at her dry lips, then he went to the nurse station and came backwith a cotton bud. He wetted the cotton bud with warm water andwiped it on her lips.

Skylar gazed at him and cast a weak smile. “I didn't know you're sogood at taking care of people. I've never been sick like this before. Iwonder how the filming crew is doing.”

Skylar informed the filming crew and took a few days off for recovery.After staying in the hospital for three days, Tobias sent a driver to takeher home.

Tobias visited her daily during the hospitalization, but he didn't staylong. Skylar never asked him to stay overnight because she didn't wantto make it an obligation for him. To stay or to leave, that was his choice.The female patient next to her also underwent an appendectomy. Herboyfriend stayed with her for almost 24 hours. He fed her and gave hermassages every day. Skylar was jealous of the girl, but she never heldhigh expectations of Tobias to do that for her. It would be freaky if hestayed by her side all day long.

Miranda had already been informed about Skylar's condition, yet shedidn’t show up at all. Instead, she just asked Skylar to stay in thehospital. To Miranda, it was just an appendectomy, not a big deal.Skylar didn't feel upset about it because she had gotten used to theabsence of her mother's love after all these years.

Skylar was bored as soon as she reached home. She called Penelopeand asked her out to go shopping.

Penelope was shocked when she saw Skylar. “Are you not eating well?You're way too skinny,” Penelope claimed.

Skylar pointed at her belly. “I just had an appendectomy a few daysago. Well, I guess it's a good way to lose weight fast.”

Stunned by her statement, Penelope complained, “How could you nottell me? I would've paid you a visit at the hospital if you had told meearlier.”

After saying that, Penelope took out two stacks of cash that werewrapped with white paper strips. Obviously, the cash was fresh from thebank.

“Here is twenty thousand. I still owe you four hundred eighty thousandand I'll clear it by this month.” Penelope handed the cash to Skylar.Looking at the cash, Skylar furrowed her eyebrows. “Where did you getthe money? It's okay, Penelope. You can pay me back slowly. I'm gettingsixty thousand for each episode of the new drama. Besides, I'm not inneed of money.”

Penelope put a cherry tomato into her mouth. “I have a new boyfriend.He's from a wealthy family, so I can clear the debt in no time. Myboyfriend is a good man. The only thing is he’s a bit too old for me. I'llintroduce him to you next week. We can have lunch together.”

Skylar was dumbfounded. Penelope had many ex-boyfriends and shealways got a new one not long after her breakup. Penelope showedSkylar a picture of her new boyfriend. Skylar widened her eyes in shockwhen she saw his picture.

She knew the man in the picture. It was him whom she met at the tearoom the other day. She remembered that the man introduced a youngmodel to Tobias. Such a coincidence! Penelope can even get her handon this man.

Skylar returned the phone to Penelope, then she said with a seriouslook, “You have to break up with this man. I know him. He's not adecent man and he'll drag you down.”

Penelope didn't expect Skylar to object against her relationship with theman. Her face darkened and immediately denied Skylar's claim, “He'sthe most charming man that I've ever seen. It's the first time that I canfinally be a little girl and protected by a mature gentleman like him.”
