If it were any other person that bullied his daughter, Thomas wouldhave moved mountains just to teach him a lesson.

Tobias was calm as he looked plainly at Thomas. “The discussiondoesn’t sound amicable to me.”

When he saw how miserable Skylar looked as she bit her lip, hecouldn't help but pity her.

Thomas quickly explained, “Skylar is someone emotional. I don't knowwhat I have said to upset her.”

Despite his reluctance, Thomas still had to hide his feelings.Furthermore, he knew Skylar wouldn't say much to Tobias too.Nevertheless, he wasn't going to let the matter slide that easily.

After regaining her composure, Skylar's crying expression had changedinto a smiling face. “Mr. Jones, since you know you will upset me whenyou say the wrong thing, please don't ever appear in front of me again. After all, we don't know each other well.”

Thomas suppressed his anger. “Skylar, you... Don't regret it. I'm stillyour father in the end. Mr. Ford won't like ladies that don'tacknowledge their family. I have always taught you to be kind.”Thomas said all those in front of Tobias on purpose.

Skylar's smile slightly froze. She could only remember the neighbor'schildren laughing at her for not having any parents to educate her. Andyet, Thomas could still shamelessly claim that he had taught her life'slessons.

If one really learned from Thomas, one would act no differently from ananimal.

Not willing to see the animosity between father and daughter escalatefurther, Tobias turned his attention to Thomas. “I know you are here toask about Avery and you don't have to feel bad about that. There's noneed for you to lecture Skylar as someone else will do it. Instead, youshould have a heart-to-heart talk with your other daughter. Ask herwho taught her to appear in my room in the middle of the night in sexylingerie.”

Shocked, Thomas was visibly agitated, “My daughter won't do such athing.”

Tobias squinted his eyes and responded sharply, “Are you saying thatI'm lying?”

Thomas was again speechless. He mumbled to himself, “Avery is a goodgirl. She must have been set up by someone else.”

Tobias ran out of patience and ushered Thomas to leave.

Meanwhile, Skylar still felt troubled when standing beside Tobias. Thewhole time they were there, Tobias didn't let go of her hand.

“Thank you for helping me again.”

Tobias’ eyes flashed with melancholy. As he lifted Skylar's chin with hisfingers, he stroked it gently.

When he saw that she no longer looked like crying, he replied softly,“There's no need to thank me. After all, this had nothing to do with you. There's no need to cry for those that don't matter to us as it will just bea waste of tears.”

Skylar raised her gaze and smiled. “You probably don't know what itfeels like to be abandoned. I feel the same devastating pain in my heartevery time I see him.”

Tobias’ expression darkened. “How can I not know? You make me feelthat way every time I see you. I feel as if you will leave me anytime.Things always seem to end before they even start.”

Stumped by Tobias’ words, she chuckled softly. “Mr. Ford, you flatterme. I don't have such power over you.”

Tobias snorted before letting out a gentle smile. “You are a realproblem for me. I never had the patience for women nor bothered tointeract much with them. But, I must admit my feelings for you arecomplicated. You should head back to school now. Only time will giveme an answer.”
