Compared to how experienced Tobias was, Skylar was a novice anddidn’t stand a chance against him.

Realizing Tobias was still asleep, Skylar wanted to sneak out before hewoke up. Just when she was about to leave, she noticed a box ofmedication next to the bed.

When she saw it was Estazolam, she checked the prescription out ofcuriosity. It was used for treating insomnia and weakened mentalconditions.

In fact, Skylar wondered if Tobias prepared it for her so that it wouldmake it easier for him. After all, he was capable of anything.

When she walked out of the elevator into the lobby, Skylar saw Thomas.Both father and daughter exchanged glances.

“I have been waiting for you the whole night.” Thomas’ tone was filledwith frustration.

“Why are you waiting for me?” Skylar sat down opposite Thomas, whohad a gloomy look on his face.

All this while, she was the one who had to wait for him and would bescolded in the end.

Skylar still remembered the time when Meredith, her grandma, told herto ask Thomas for money. She needed it for her school fees. Thomasthrew two hundred on the ground then.

“Last night, Avery came home crying. She said that you bullied her andtore off all her clothing. Skylar, how can you be so cruel? Just becauseyou have Tobias watching your back, do you think you can do anythingyou please? Including hurting your own family?”

Skylar laughed wryly at Thomas’ response. Avery really is Dad's favorite.She will always run crying to Dad at the first sign of trouble.

Skylar didn't feel she did anything wrong last night. Whateverhappened was all Avery's own doing.

Skylar was disgusted by the pained look Thomas had when hedescribed how Avery was mistreated.

She smirked. “Is that why you have waited the whole night? Just so thatyou can accuse me of this? Family? Since when did you become myfamily?”

Tobias scolded, “You have to apologize to your sister as she has neverbeen humiliated to his extent. Don't think just because you have Tobiasbehind you, you can act with impunity. Why don't you ask yourself if hecan watch over you forever?”

Thomas had the same expression as Avery when he said the samewords as she did.

Skylar snorted. They're father and daughter after all. After spending somuch time together, she really takes after him.
