It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 92
Lucia looked at the note. The address listed was quite easy to replace. It was actually a famous private club in S City. A very suitable place for private and business meetings. As for Enoch’s call, she decided not to answer it, so she simply slipped the phone into her bag. He was well known. All she had to do was ask the waiter where he was, and she would be taken to him. He would have already arranged everything. So they didn’t need to talk on the phone.
Lucia continued her unfinished work. She got so absorbed in it that she lost track of time. When she realized it, there was only half an hour left before her meeting with Enoch. Looking at the growing crowd of people returning from work, she was gloomy. She couldn’t take the metro because it didn’t go near that place, and there were no taxis at that time either.
Lucia rolled her eyes and couldn’t help but curse inwardly. “Well, I guess you’ll have to wait for me, Enoch. Women have the right to be late,” she thought. Although she didn’t like being late, there was nothing she could do at the moment.
Lucia left quickly. The taxis that passed her were all busy and there were none empty. But she was in no hurry, so she waited at the entrance of the mall.
“Lucy ?”
Lucia seemed to hear someone calling her name. She turned around and saw Lowell. ‘Why is he here? What a coincidence!’ Even though she was a little confused as to why Lowell was here, she still walked over to him.
“Get in the car,” Lowell said immediately.
Looking at the line of cars behind them, Lucia quickly opened the door and got in. Lowell then stepped on the gas and headed toward the main road. Lucia couldn’t help but look at him in confusion.
“I had a business meeting nearby. I saw you hailing a cab on the other side, so I turned around when the traffic cleared a little. When I got closer, I was sure it was you. By the way, where are you going? I’ll give you a ride,” Lowell offered.
“You’re a savior!” Lucia exclaimed and quickly gave him the address.
“Are you having dinner with a friend? That’s great,” Lowell said casually.
“Yes,” Lucia replied with a nod. She didn’t explain further.
Luck must be on their side at this point. There were no traffic jams along the way, and the car drove smoothly. Lowell had already stopped in front of the private club before the time agreed between Lucia and Enoch. Lucia thanked him, got out of the car and said goodbye. Then she turned around and went inside. Lowell first watched as Lucia disappeared from sight before walking away. A trace of curiosity flashed in his eyes.
Lucia took the elevator to the top floor. Then she explained her purpose to the waiter at the door. Soon, she was led into a private Japanese-style room. Lucia frowned and thought, “Is there really a Chinese person who likes eating sashimi so much? In her case, it was the only food she didn’t like. But she wasn’t going to pay the bill anyway, so it didn’t matter. She knocked on the door, opened it and entered.
As expected, Enoch was already waiting inside. As soon as he saw Lucia enter, he motioned for her to sit down. Lucia took off her coat, sat on the couch across from him and crossed her legs.
“Please excuse my lateness.” She took the initiative to apologize.
“It’s okay. I just came too. In fact, you’re more punctual than other women. I’m so happy to have you as my sister-in-law.” Enoch waved his hand, indicating that he didn’t mind.
Compared to many other women, Lucia didn’t look like a woman at all. She didn’t dress deliberately, and she didn’t like being late. Enoch was very curious to know if Lucia was the same when she was with Malcolm.
“Enoch, can you stop calling me that, please? Soon I think I won’t be your sister-in-law anymore. If you consider me a friend, just call me Lucia,” said Lucia frowning. She wanted to stop him from treating her like his sister-in-law from now on.
“For what?” Enoch also frowned.
She just smiled and didn’t say anything. He was sensible enough to close the topic. He rang to call the waiter. Then he asked her what she wanted to eat. Lucia glanced at the menu and motioned for Enoch to order for her. Enoch quickly ordered food for them. The waiter then took the menu and left the private room.
“Did you just invite me over for dinner?” When did you become so idle?” Lucia said, taking the initiative to change the subject.
“I don’t think it’s strange for me to invite you to dinner. After all, you’re still Malcolm’s wife.” Enoch no longer called her his sister-in-law, but he still reminded her that her identity hadn’t changed. “For now, yes
. But that will soon change. How can your grandmother allow me to stay in the Evans family?” Lucia said lightly. It was as if she was not talking about her but about a stranger. “
Lucia, you are special to Malcolm,” Enoch said with a frown.
“Yes.” There was a slight trace of sarcasm in Lucia’s tone.
Enoch looked a little embarrassed upon hearing her words. There were things he couldn’t tell her. Lucia raised her eyebrows, looked at Enoch and smiled. The waiter came in and served their food just in time. Lucia didn’t like sashimi, but she couldn’t help but reach out her hand when she saw the beautifully arranged food in front of her.
She picked up a slice of tofu closest to her and put it in her mouth. Then she started to try the other dishes. When she picked up the sashimi, she looked at it with a frown before dipping it in mustard and stuffing it into her mouth. It was fresher and better than the sashimi at other Japanese restaurants she had tried. Its unusually mild taste made him appreciate sashimi for the first time.
Enoch frowned as he watched Lucia eat in an unrefined manner. Sitting cross-legged casually, she looked so different from those elegant women. Despite everything, her behavior put him at ease. “Did she act like that when she was with Malcolm too?” » Enoch didn’t think Malcolm would like that kind of woman.
“Do you act like that when you have dinner with Malcolm too?” Finally, Enoch could no longer hold back his curiosity.
“Yes. How else am I supposed to eat?” Lucia said, stuffing her mouth with food.
After swallowing it, she took a sip of Sake next to her. She couldn’t help but praise it. Then she turned her attention to Enoch.
When Enoch saw Lucia before, she was always serious. She carefully recalled in her mind those moments when they had met. They had first met at a party, then at the Evans family mansion. After that, they had occasional meetings. And the last time they saw each other was during her marriage to Malcolm. Of course, she couldn’t behave so casually on these occasions. No wonder he’s so surprised to see her like this right now. At this thought, she suddenly burst out laughing.
“Do you hate Malcolm?” Enoch decided to ask another question to change the subject.
“No, I don’t. Everyone has their own interests. I have a little resentment towards him, but that won’t lead to hating him. Anyway, a couple will still break up if they don’t can’t hear well. Why should I hate him?” Lucia said flatly after thinking for a moment.
When she first knew the truth, she thought she hated him. But after a while, she realized that it wasn’t hatred but resentment. She wasn’t a little girl anymore, and she didn’t need to take this matter too seriously. Now she really wanted to hide from Malcolm. But she also found that she was a little disappointed when he didn’t show up.
She made fun of herself for this.
“If Malcolm marries another woman, but he won’t let you go, what will you do? Enoch asked curiously.
“Are you here to interview me tonight?” Did Malcolm ask you to do this?” Lucie asked. Her tone of voice suddenly changed and became a little angry.
She didn’t like people asking so many questions about her private life. She didn’t hide what she wanted to say. And she wouldn’t say anything about the things she didn’t want to talk about. Her relationship with Malcolm was a personal matter. It had nothing to do with the others. And “other people” referred to everyone except her and Malcolm.
“I’m sorry,” Enoch said apologetically.
Lucia shrugged her shoulders to close the subject. Then she continued to eat the food in front of her. After having a Japanese meal this evening, Lucia decided to change her mind about sashimi. Next time, she would ask Lowell to replace a good Japanese restaurant. When Lowell’s face flashed in her mind, she inevitably smiled.
Enoch and Lucia continued to talk, but they avoided topics she didn’t want to talk about. No one mentioned Malcolm again. Enoch found Lucia to be a very good conversationalist. They could talk about anything without making him uncomfortable. “If I had met her first, would I have fallen in love with her?
Lucia is a woman worth challenging. Is this why Malcolm decided to be in a relationship with her? Or did he only make a move after replaceing out Lucia’s date of birth? thought Enoch. If he were Malcolm, he would be happy to accept such a challenge. After all, only an intelligent woman could live a comfortable life in a complicated family.
The way to survive was to behave well and know how to act accordingly on different occasions.
Lucia’s phone suddenly rang. She took it out of her bag and checked who was calling. Then she looked apologetically at Enoch and answered the phone without hesitation.
“I finished my work, and I’m right next door. If you go home now, I can give you a ride back,” Lowell said calmly.
“I don’t know what time we’ll finish dinner. But of course, if you’re still here later, I’ll call you.” Lucia didn’t refuse Lowell’s offer. It seemed like things were different
between them. She wasn’t fooled into not feeling his intentions. Everyone had a selfish side, and she was no exception. If she and Malcolm were still a couple, she would be faithful to him. But when they were finished, no one could stop her from dating another man.
“Do you have any other plans?” Enoch asked and raised his eyebrows.
“None at the moment,” Lucia replied casually as she put down her phone.
“So , how about I take you home later?” Enoch asked hesitantly.
“Sure.
Intuitively, she didn’t want anyone from the Evans family to know Lowell. But she didn’t even know the reason. She just felt it was awkward.
Enoch looked at the expression on Lucia’s face but said nothing more. “The person who called her must have been a friend who offered to pick her up. But she didn’t agree or disagree. In fact, I only offered to take it home to test it. And she accepted. Does this mean that the person who called her just now is just an insignificant person? Enoch thought of various possibilities in his mind.
Suddenly his phone rang. He looked at the screen and rejected the call with a frown. Then he gave Lucia an apologetic look and said, “Something just happened. I’m afraid I won’t be able to take you back. I’ll hail a taxi for you.”
“It’s okay, don’t worry. I don’t live too far from here, so I can just take a walk back,” Lucia said indifferently.
She picked up her coat and put it on. Enoch waited for her to come out before leaving the private room. The two said goodbye at the entrance of the club. Lucia headed towards the villa without looking back.
Enoch came out from a corner and watched his silhouette recede. He stood there for a moment, but saw no one. So he turned around and entered the parking lot.
Maybe he worried too much.
