It’s Love That Blinds Him – Chapter 94
Malcolm had been sitting in his office, looking at his phone for a long time now. After what seemed like an eternity, he finally decided to call Lucia. The call only rang twice before being disconnected. His phone had gone off. Malcolm frowned at his phone, trying to decide what to do with it. He ran his finger over the call button, but just as he was about to call her again, someone else called him. The caller ID flashed on the screen. He looked at her for a moment before answering.
“Grandma, what’s up?” Malcolm said in a cold, carefree tone.
Ever since things had gone wrong with Lucia, Wilma had been more determined than ever to replace a suitable wife for Malcolm. Every time Malcolm entered his office, there was a file containing information about a woman who met the requirements. Malcolm never really refused the documents, but he didn’t check them either. Once Wilma had turned her back on him, he would always ask Bob to throw away the documents.
Wilma called Malcolm now because he hadn’t contacted any of the women. Time passed and she began to get impatient.
“Malcolm, you know why I called you,” Wilma said.
“Grandma, I told you I could handle this. You don’t need to worry so much,” Malcolm said calmly.
“Malcolm, Lucia is gone. Why are you still so attached to her? Remember our family rules. Hurry up. I can’t wait any longer,” Wilma said in a pleading tone.
“Grandma, do you have anything else to say? Otherwise, I’m afraid I’ll have to hang up. I’ll take care of everything else when I get back ” Malcolm said, ignoring her question. After that, he dropped the appeal. Enoch had made no progress. Malcolm narrowed his eyes as a cold light danced in their depths.
The phone rang again. Malcolm looked down at the screen to see who was calling; it was Enoch. It was strange for Enoch to call now. It was quite late at night in China. So it could mean one of two things; either there was something wrong or he had made progress. Malcolm answered the call without hesitation.
“What is the problem?” he asked, with a rare note of expectation in his voice.
“Malcolm, you’ll never guess who I met today,” Enoch said in a cheerful voice, clearly in a good mood.
Malcolm didn’t answer. He just stayed silent and waited for Enoch to continue. He was a little irritated, however, and he began to doubt the reason for Enoch’s call. “Did he really call me at midnight to tell me about his day? » He was just beginning to ruminate when a thought suddenly came to his mind. Before he could ask the question, Enoch spoke again.
“It was Lucie. She looks so much better than she did. I met her at the mall today. Oh, and I asked her out to dinner,” Enoch said hurriedly.
Recently, Malcolm had just been in a constant bad mood. His words were like ice and his manners were like a violent snowstorm in the middle of winter. While it was true that he had a very volatile personality, it had never been this bad. During the time after he and Lucia had broken up, he had been more unpredictable than usual.
Malcolm seemed to be focusing all his attention on the red dot moving across the screen these days. Whenever Enoch tried to talk about Lucia, Malcolm would just narrow his eyes and focus more intently on the screen. Malcolm would become more irritable than usual if Enoch talked about Lucia. It was probably because he was annoyed that Enoch was able to read his mind so easily.
But if Enoch didn’t say anything about him, Malcolm would start investigating quietly. If the red dot stayed in one place for too long, Malcolm would inexplicably become sulky. It was at this time that it was the coldest. Anyone who entered his office received a solid reprimand, for whatever reason Malcolm deemed appropriate, before being kicked out. It was for this reason that Enoch wanted to tell Malcolm about Lucia as soon as possible. He didn’t want to be accused later of keeping secrets.
“Lucy ?” Malcolm said coldly. It was obvious from the tone of his voice that he didn’t like the way Enoch had referred to her.
“Oh! I mean my sister-in-law,” Enoch quickly corrected himself.
‘That little slip-up was Lucia’s fault. She was the one who told me not to think of her as my sister-in-law anymore. I just get used to using his name. I should have known Malcolm would be unhappy about that. It means she’s no longer under his control. And we all know how much he hates that. Sometimes
Enoch was confused about to the way things worked when it came to Malcolm and Lucia. Was Lucia the predator or the prey? It was just one aspect of the whole situation that left Enoch perplexed. “What was she doing?
” Malcolm asked, once again reverting to his old cold manner.
“She was running errands. It seems that she has returned to a normal life. She told me she takes daily walks now. She was in a really good mood,” Enoch said, giving Malcolm a brief summary of the events.
“What about the other days? When does she do it then?” Malcolm asked.
“Malcolm, what if I hook up the monitoring system to your computer so you can watch her?” Enoch suggested.
“No. You keep an eye on it,” Malcolm refused.
“Oh…” Enoch started but then stopped.
“Give her whatever she wants. But I think you know pretty well where to draw the line,” Malcolm said indifferently.
This type of behavior was exactly what made Enoch weary. Malcolm was so unpredictable. he had suggested something like that, Malcolm would have shot him down and criticized him, but because Malcolm had suggested it, it was fine. At other times, if Enoch acted stupid, Malcolm would become extremely irritable. Enoch n He had no idea how Malcolm’s mind worked.
“Is there any progress?” Malcolm asked coldly. “
No.” Enoch’s tone became serious.
“Are you seriously telling me that we can’t replace any lineal descent?” Malcolm asked, looking surprised.
“No. There isn’t even a trace of it. It’s like the whole clan just vanished into thin air,” Enoch said.
He had followed every clue and done every investigation he could. But there was nothing. No matter how much hand No matter how much work or resources he devoted to the investigation, it always proved fruitless. It seemed that all the descendants of the witch coven had either been destroyed or mysteriously disappeared. Enoch had always believed that people left clues of their existence. There should be something left for others to discover. But not this time, apparently. There was nothing.
The witch coven had been so completely suppressed that it was as if they had never existed at all. Enoch was even beginning to think that this was all a big joke. Maybe the curse wasn’t real at all. Maybe it was nothing more than a rumor. But recently, he had started to believe in the curse a little more. He doubted anyone would be so bored as to play such a sick and elaborate prank on their family.
“And that man who helped the Evans family?” Is there anything?” Malcolm asked.
“We tried to investigate the tablet, but it’s too worn. Nothing is readable. I’m sure there’s a recording there, but we just can’t play it. In this regard, I fear it is a dead end. Malcolm, have you thought about asking Sophia for help? This is his area of expertise. I’m sure she could decipher some information on the tablet. And I have no doubt that she would be able to do it ten times faster than us,” Enoch said.
“No,” Malcolm said stubbornly.
“Okay, I’ll keep trying,” said Enoch after a pause.
“If there is nothing else, you can continue with your work,” Malcolm said coldly.
Without waiting for a response, he hung up. He looked down at his phone, in the background of screen he had of Lucia’s smiling face. His mind wandered as his eyes focused on nothing but her. “Wildcat, what am I supposed to do with you if I don’t can’t replace a solution?”
In his mind, Lucia’s expression alternated between smiling and irritated. “Are you smiling because of my absence?” Malcolm whispered, running his thumb over the image of Lucia’s face.
“Maybe you are more important than I first thought. You are mine. You can never escape me. Only death will part us.”
Malcolm dialed a number. He let it ring twice, then disconnected it before it could be picked up. The photo of him and Lucia reappeared on the screen.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door. Malcolm coldly tells the knocker to come in. He waited a moment before the door opened. Finn entered and greeted respectfully. Malcolm gestured for him to speak. Finn stood up and gave the replaceings of the follow-up investigation.
“We found out the name of the mercenary who took our raw material supplies. His name is Tandy. We also discovered something strange. Through the mercenary system, we discovered that Tandy usually takes high-ranking tasks level. Usually he wouldn’t be caught dead doing something that simple. As of now, we still haven’t found out why he did it,” Finn said with a frown.
“Have you found out who hired him?” » Malcolm asked calmly.
Although he knew that mercenaries generally took on tasks that matched their skill level, there were always factors that weren’t taken into account. For example, Sean was dead to Howell. If Malcolm’s guess was correct, Sean had been a high-level mercenary. There was no reason he should have been so loyal to Howell, unless there was a special reason.
“That’s the thing, what we found is really strange. The man who hired him is an American drug trafficker. According to our database, this person doesn’t exist. My best guess is that “He changed his identity. That is, if the information wasn’t falsified. His current identity is his new one. What I don’t understand is why he did it,” Finn pouted with confusion.
“Tandy and this person must be involved somehow. That’s the only reason why Tandy would have taken such a low-level job. It can even be assumed that Tandy is the drug dealer. This way, he can hide his own identity, as well as that of the person who hired him. There must be ground rules and professionalism in the mercenary business. I have no doubt that they are trying to save their clients future problems,” Malcolm said.
Finn remained silent and listened. He mentally flipped through a list of suspicious people, crossing out those who no longer fit the case. He remembered that Antonio had said that these people didn’t want to cause big damage; they just wanted to save time. Finn’s frown deepened. He hated these kinds of situations. He hated not knowing what was happening.
“My mistake.” Finn bowed his head apologetically.
“Do you think the legend about the spiritual leader of the mercenaries is true? Malcolm asked suddenly, looking up at Finn.
“No, not at the moment. I checked the system after I proposed the idea. The only information I managed to dig up is that it might be a legend. There is no indication that the mercenaries are coming together to do something big, like Byron said. If I’m honest, I think the clue about Tandy might be misleading information,” Finn said boldly.
“I see. You can leave now. Oh, just a note. The goods are due in the next three weeks. Make sure they’re on time,” Malcolm said.
“No problem. The distribution of raw materials has been completed. The factory has been working overtime to ensure this. The goods will be delivered to Antonio well on time. Will you deliver the goods in person this time, sir? ” asked Finn.
“No, Byron will go. If that’s all, please leave.” Malcolm raised his hand and waved Finn away. “
Yes, sir,” Finn said with a bow and left.
‘Tandy… The spiritual leader…Drug dealer…’ This information swirled wildly in Malcolm’s mind. The situation, which was just beginning to clear up, once again became a pool of chaos. “Who could have set such a trap elaborated to get my attention? What’s the meaning behind this?
Is it you? Are you the one making a scene?”
