Let Me Go, Mr. Hill! -
Chapter 2859
Chapter 2859
Charity halted in her steps.
She watched the man from a distance.
To be honest, many people in society had lost their legs.
Hence, Charity felt no other emotions besides pity after glancing at them every time.
However, the thin man with his back toward her made her think of Chester.
It was as if there was a lump in her throat, and she felt uneasy.
Suddenly, the man stumbled, and his crutch wobbled before he fell to the ground awkwardly, revealing half of his well-defined face.
Larissa exclaimed, "That... That's Chester."
After speaking, she ran up to him and wanted to help him, but she realized she still had many things in her hands. With that, she hastily reminded her daughter, who was in a daze. "Lizzie, quickly help him up."
"Huh? Oh."
Charity snapped back to her senses and swiftly walked over.
Chester was still struggling to stand up on the field. However, it was not easy for a person who had lost one of his legs. He would fall again after managing to get up a little. As he got frustrated, the blood veins on the back of his hands bulged, and the grass was stuck to his clothes too.
That was when a soft arm supported him.
Chester flung Charity's hand away without looking back. He said viciously, "Don't touch me. I'll stand up by myself."
"What if I insist on helping you up?" charity held one of his arms, which had gotten a lot thinner. She remembered it used to be muscular.
Upon hearing the woman's familiar voice, Chester's heart skipped a beat. Yet, on his face, he looked flustered, lost, confused, and all sorts of other emotions. In the end, his handsome face was filled with embarrassment, "why are you here?"
"Didn't Shaun tell you?" charity stared at the man before her without blinking her eyes.
His face was still the same, but it looked unfamiliar at the same time.
It had been a few months since Charity last saw Chester. There used to be a wound on his face, but with the stitches removed, there was now a scar the length of a finger at the corner of his eye. Some people looked ugly with a scar, and although Chester's good-looking appearance was greatly affected, that scar added a tinge of untamed and wild spirit to his looks.
Chester used to look handsome, and no one could ever tell from his face how evil and harsh he was. However, he now gave off a feeling that he was not to be offended.
Nevertheless, that empty pant leg would make people pity him whenever they looked down.
"He... He said he had something to do in the morning, so I thought you guys were only coming in the evening."
As Chester spoke, he subtly used his hand to cover his leg, but it was not of much use.
"Mr. Jewell."
Larissa walked over hastily. If she had felt apologetic toward Chester before, that feeling was even more pronounced at that moment. The pity she felt was evident in her eyes.
To think such a good-looking man had ended up like that to save her daughter.
Whether there used to be a huge grudge between them or not, Larissa thought there was no need to dwell on it anymore.
"Lizzie, help Mr. Jewell to sit down."
"No need. I can walk by myself. The doctor said I must walk more and shouldn't lie in bed all day. If not, my bodily functions will decline."
While speaking, Chester tried to bend over to pick his crutch up.
However, Charity was quicker. She placed the crutch in his hand.
When their hands touched, she realized his fingers had calluses on them. The calluses must have been from him practicing walking with his crutch lately.
"Why are you here by yourself? Where's Ken?" Charity asked with a frown.
"He went to make breakfast for me." Chester sighed. "It's Christmas Eve today, so the whole of Europe is on holiday. We have to cook for ourselves."
Larissa was surprised. "Is no one left in the kitchen for such a huge hospital? What about the patients?"
