Love Began with the First Meeting
Chapter 505 Deep In Love And Hate (Part Two)

However, Mark only threw a look at him and continued eating without giving an answer.

From the silence, Brian stared at Mark for quite a while. Still hearing no words from his son, he placed the things in his hand on the table, took his coat from Tony and went out of the villa.

As Brian started stride on his way out, Mark watched him go and hastily stopped eating. He jumped off the chair and hurriedly followed him out.

"Hey..." Mark called, trying to catch his breath. Hearing this, Brian stopped and turned around to look at him. Mark twirled his fingers and continued, "Do you keep your words?"

The young boy's words seemed out of nowhere, but Brian understood and replied, "Of course."

Then, the atmosphere became heavy. Tony immediately took his leave after being signaled by Brian. It was obvious that Mark was tensed and anxious. He kept raising and lowering his head while Brian waited patiently. The expecting father continued to wait. However, Mark never made up his mind.

"It seems like you haven't decided yet. You still don't know what is more important to you," Brian said in a serious tone with his poker face on. Slowly losing his patience, he said, "Always remember, you should weigh your gains and loss in whatever you do." After saying these words, he walked out without looking back.

Seeing how his father left without a care, Mark turned around and headed back to the villa with anger and disappointment on his face. He didn't like Daddy Brian. Not at all. Not a little bit. He was nowhere near daddy. Unlike Spark, Brian never tried to comfort him, not even once. As he walked his way into the villa, Mark suddenly stopped and turned around pitifully while looking at Brian. However, he was already out of his sight.

Feeling down, Mark had no choice but to draw back his eyes and sulkily entered the room. He took the milk and stared blankly across the table. In an instant, his heart was filled with disappointment.

For the rest of the day, Brian was the same as usual. He spent the whole day doing tons of work. As the dark cloud loomed, gradually, it started to rain. It was the first rain since summer began. With rain sparkling, streams of cars were all dashing through the streets, and pedestrians trotting under the umbrella.

However, the rain didn't suck any pleasure and happiness out of Mr. Song's villa. The road was covered with transparent sheds from the gate towards the interior. And, the pitter-patter of raindrops only added to its festivity.

In his eighties, Mr. Song remained hale and hearty. His villa had been adorned luxuriantly and gracefully for his granddaughter, Hannah. That day was her birthday. This was one of those times when all big wheels of A City would gather to celebrate. To spend so much for the event, everyone knew that she was the apple of Mr. Song's eye. She just turned 24 years old and recently earned her Ph.D. from abroad. And, today's party was to celebrate her birthday and reception.

All distinguished persons greeted each other with champagne or red wine in their hands, after saying their congratulations to Mr. Song.

Despite his unwillingness, Brian went to the party, earlier than most guests. His lone intention in showing up was simply for Mr. Song's sake. Everyone knew that the birthday party was just a pretext under Mr. Song's real intention of replaceing a good husband for Hannah. This explained why a lot of gents came and expressed their congratulations. After all, Mr. Song was extremely powerful in A City. Plus, Hannah was also a beauty. It was like hitting two birds with one stone.

"Why didn't you bring Mark here with you?" Mr. Song asked gloomily as he sat in front of Brian. Surprised, Brian looked straight into his eyes and paused for a while.

"He sleeps at ten. I don't want him to spoil the party," he replied calmly.

"Humph!" Mr. Song didn't buy his words. "You just didn't want Mark to get exposed here. But you don't need to worry. He won't be on the headline for as long as you don't want to. You know very well that nobody dare to cross you, right?" said the old man.

Just like an old, wise man, Mr. Song spelled out Brian's concern. However, his words didn't influence Brian even a little bit. Instead, he replied with poise, "I just came to greet you, I still have some work to do later."

Hearing his blatant words, Mr. Song said with a frown, "Then, you shouldn't have come." Admonished, the old man didn't take his words personally. He clearly had intentions in mind for asking Brian to come. The reason behind the birthday party was clear as bell to many. Brian's presence was a big enough hint.

While deep in his thoughts, Mr. Song's eyes squinted at the sight of a couple who just came in. His eyes squinted harder to see clearly who they were and murmured, "The woman beside Eric." Hearing this, Brian's eyes followed as Mr. Song continued, "That woman was with him the last time. it was during my birthday party."

Seeing who the woman was, Brian's eyes turned dark and gloomy. Molly was wearing a V-neck dress, with the "Sunny Day" necklace Spark bought. Her hair was perfectly combed into a bun. The light flattered her fair skin and her cleavage was fairly seductive. Mr. Song noticed his darkened look as he turned to look at him. From the very beginning, he knew about the past between him and Molly. After all, Jenifer unveiled lots of story from the past. If he remembered correctly, that woman was the mother of Brian's child. Looking fair and poised, Eric and Molly walked their way among the crowd towards them, turning every head they've passed. "Mr. Song, you're in even better health," Eric said as they approached. "I see that you're here so early, Brian," he continued.

Amidst the conversation, Brian and Molly just gazed at each other, igniting a cold air between them. The moment they walked in, they immediately saw Brian and saw no hint of Mark.

"I just come here to greet them," Brian said with a sneering smile. His head turned to look at Molly and continued, "I will be leaving soon and tuck Mark to bed."

Hearing this, Molly's hand tightened. She purposely came here with Eric believing she would see Mark. However, her expectations failed her.

"I initially told Brian to bring Mark with him," Mr. Song laughed, "but Brian said Mark needs to go to bed on time." Mr. Song sounded helpless, but as foxy as him, he noticed Molly's stiffening look.

In the pool of gents present in the party, the best candidate for Hannah's husband was already decided. It was Brian; it has to be Brian. But even before he could bring this up, he heard that Brian already had a son. Well, successful men all had a past, so he thought. He wouldn't mind Brian having a son for as long as he and Hannah could hit it off. ☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
