Love Began with the First Meeting -
Chapter 506 Deep In Love And Hate (Part Three)
Molly looked at Brian with hate and fury reflecting in her eyes, as if she's trying to burn him alive. Noticing the enraged Molly, Eric pulled her hand inadvertently and said, "Little Molly, I see some acquaintances over there. We should better take our leave and greet them." Upon Eric's words, Molly controlled her fury and nodded in agreement. After glaring at Brian, she immediately left with Eric.
A man approached Mr. Song and Brian and reminded Mr. Song, "Mr. Song, it's almost time." Hearing this, the old man perfected his poise.
After a while, Mr. Song nodded and excused himself to Brian. He then left with the help of the man.
Alone, Brian sat quietly without a care of anybody else. After what had happened four years ago, he became well-known by many. A lot of people wanted to rub shoulders with him and make use of his power, yet, all froze and stopped due to his profound coldness. Starting to feel bored, he swayed his wine glass, eyes fixed on Molly. On the other hand, Molly did the same and kept her eyes on him despite standing beside Eric. For quite some time, they continued to stare at each other - Brian detached and gloomy, Molly furious and resentful.
"Good evening, everyone," a calm and weather-beaten voice disrupted their eyes. Right at that moment, Mr. Song stood on the stage, with the spotlight beaming on him, and said, "Thank you all for coming to my granddaughter Hannah's birthday party." After saying these words, the spotlight focused away from him and moved to the staircase where Hannah was walking slowly downstairs. She wore a white glowing dress filled with crystals. With a light make-up on and a crystal tiara, her profound beauty exceeded the crowd. She was like a princess, graceful and aloof.
As she walked down elegantly, the band played her a birthday song. The crowd was stunned as the maids served a massive five-layer cake while they continued singing her a "Happy Birthday".
Hearing the crowd, Hannah's smile gradually reached her ears. She loved being in the spotlight. And just like a real princess, she raised her chin up in superiority.
"Vain," Eric derided. Among all kinds of women, he loathed such type. With a slight feeling of disgust, he averted his look and prepared to take Molly to the lounge. However, she didn't move an inch. Anger was seen all over her face.
"Little Molly?" Eric called, but she didn't respond. She could feel Brian's sight on her even though the lights were out. At this point, she detested him. She was hoping to see her son in the party, but all her hope vanished because Brian didn't bring him. It felt like she was thrown from the peak of hope to the abyss of despair. No one could ever understand her sense of loss.
Eric followed her eyes and saw they were directed to where Brian was sitting. Dismayed, he comforted, "You might not have seen Mark today, but you will have other opportunities. Don't forget. I can visit Mark as I please," he continued.
With such comforting words, Molly eventually drew her sight from Brian. Biting her lips as her way of stopping herself from doing senseless things, she nodded as a response. However, she continued to not pay attention to Eric. The party officially started after the birthday song. And as the celebrant, Hannah could invite any man she liked to dance with her. With such rare opportunity, a bunch of gents started to gather around, hoping to win her admiration.
After spending some time glancing around, she set her sight on Brian and walked towards him. Jealous, all men and women present directed their focus on him.
Quite a number of people knew that Brian was cold and cruel. Many had burnt their fingers at Grand Night Casino. And, as Hannah slowly approached him, most expected the worst to happen.
Nervous, Mr. Song himself had no idea what would happen. He's having a cold sweat while on his crutches. He knew Brian so well that if he didn't want to dance, he would blatantly refuse, not even for his own sake.
But as Hannah stopped in front of him, trying to gather all of her courage, Brian remained indifferent. "Can I do the opening dance with you?" she said. Hannah's voice was sweet and glamorous.
Cold as he was, Brian glimpsed at her and didn't give a reply. As the clock ticked, Hannah's embarrassment grew from the cold silence he's giving her. And, just when everybody thought he would reject her, the unexpected happened. Brian said yes.
Knowing this, the band played a soft and dreamy music in an instant. Led by Brian, Hannah enjoyed unprecedented satisfaction as they did the waltz. All this time, she knew that he was the man chosen by his grandfather. At first, she shrugged him off and the idea of getting into a relationship. But when she walked downstairs, when everyone was looking at her, only Brian didn't. This drew her attention towards him.
It wouldn't have bothered her that much if he was a nobody, but there was no doubt that he was the most charming man in the room, overshadowing all the rest.
Enjoying the moment, Hannah spun with Brian. Her every look exuded her desire for him.
When the song came to an end, Hannah nestled in Brian's arms, one leg bent, another stretched while Brian also bent his body slightly. They dotted a loving and touching period to the end of the dance. "You're a good dancer," Brian said in a low voice. Surprised, she tried so hard to cover her embarrassment.
"You're a good partner," Hannah beamed, hoping to conceal her heart that was beating so fast.
Hearing this, Brian curled his lips into a smile. It was one of those smiles he used to wear for show; it wasn't very sincere. He pulled Hannah up, bowed as salute and left the dance area amid the applause.
While he continued to stride away from the attention, she chased his arrogant figure, her waist still feeling his temperature. 'Brian, you are mine,' she said to herself, determined.
Determined to leave in an instant, Brian told Tony to bid farewell to Mr. Song and left beforehand. He stood under the shed and heard the rain dripping, feeling quite annoyed.
Dancing with Hannah was a decision he made to show his respect to Mr. Song. As they waltzed, for him, they weren't intimate. However, he knew Hannah was trying to take a grab of him, but he didn't try to stop her. Among the crowd, he could easily see Molly at every angle. But every time he looked at her, she didn't even care to cast a glance at him, not even when he's dancing with a beautiful lady.
The harder he thought about this, the more his heart grew heavy. He gritted his teeth furiously at every thought of Molly's words last night - she loved Spark.
Suddenly, "Brian," Molly's voice rose behind him.
"Would you please let me see Mark? Even just this one time, please?" she pleaded, looking like she was about to cry.
