Love Began with the First Meeting -
Chapter 645 At The Wrong Pace (Part One)
What is undesired? A cotton-padded coat in summer, a cattail leaf fan in winter, or your tenderness after you broke my heart?

Tony stopped the car by the roadside near the local park which was in the middle of the street. Brian opened the car door and a gust of wind blew his hair aside, exposing his full forehead. He looked around the park with his sharp falcon-like eyes, and strode towards the entrance of the park.
He didn't feel the need to look at the cellphone in his hand. As he moved forward, the red dot on the map in his phone screen edged closer and closer. He didn't check Molly's exact location. He followed his instinct and walked along the stoned pathway. His eyes fell on a tall locust tree at the center of the grove.
It was summer, the season when locust trees were in full bloom. A great many strings of white sophora flowers swayed in the wind, and played a soft music as they rubbed against their leaves. The wind was not merciful to the weak flowers and they were blown away from their branches and the fallen white petals created random designs at the foot of the tree. In the dim lit night, these small petals danced around in the wind as they descended to the ground.
Brian turned his sight away from the tree and strode along the path.

Spark squatted by Molly's side. His heart ached when he saw the fear in her eyes. He stared at her up and down and called her name to grab her attention, "Mol! Mol!" He grasped Molly's shoulder to stop her from shaking. "Mol!"
he called her name again, trying to bring her back to reality. His voice got through to her finally and Molly quieted down. She stared blankly at Spark. Her eyes were empty, like two bottomless black holes filled with fog.
"Mol..." Spark wanted to desperately bring back the light in her beautiful eyes, "Why are you here? What are you doing? What's wrong with you?"
Molly's senses were gradually returning. She gulped, closed her eyes, and took several deep breaths. When she opened her eyes again, she saw Spark's anxious face staring at her intently. Frowning, she said, "Spark?"
His heart skipped a beat when he heard her calling his name. He stretched out his hands to hold her in his embrace. He closed his eyes and held her tightly in his arms as he brushed his cheek against her soft hair. Like a river, the coldness in her passed to his heart and froze his blood.
Molly's emotional wall collapsed instantly. Her nose reddened and teardrops ran down her cheek like silver pearls. Without thinking, she wrapped her hands around Spark's waist. She bit her lips to stop herself from screaming in pain. She closed her eyes tightly, while her lips quivered uncontrollably.
"Mol, please tell me what happened. Why are you sitting alone here?" Spark asked softly. He felt her body tremble in his embrace, and he couldn't be more worried.
Molly shook her head violently, her eyes closed. She gritted her teeth to stop her pathetic whimpering sounds.
Spark looked at her once again and held Molly more tightly in his arms, without asking her any more questions.
Brian found himself unable to take another step forward when he reached the grove. He felt like his feet were stuck to the ground. He looked at the two people who were locked in an embrace in front of him. His hands, on their own accord, folded into tight fists. The terrifying sound of his knuckles cracking mixed in eerily with the sound of the strong wind.
As if on cue, the wind around them grew heavier and colder. The atmosphere inside the grove froze. The two people who were embracing each other felt the cold breeze and gradually loosened their grip on each other.
As Molly opened her eyes, she saw a fully black-clad figure in a suit. The imposing figure stood under the shadow of the tree in the dim light. He was clad in the darkness of the night, like a demon from hell who was capable of plunging everyone in his way into the pits of fire.
Spark turned to look at the man who was walking towards them. As he came out of the shadow of the tree, his domineering cold face was exposed. Spark cried, "Brian Long?"
Brian stepped on the fallen white flowers as he proceeded towards them, his eyes were fixed on Molly. By instinct, she moved backwards in fear, but her back hit the tree trunk which was behind her.
Brian stopped in front of them and looked down at Molly first, and then at Spark.
Spark looked up at Brian. Despite the indifference on Brian's face, Spark could see the heavy haze behind his eyes. He returned his gaze back to Molly and supported her to stand up. Since Molly had been sitting on the ground for far too long, her legs and feet were numb, and she was tired from all the crying. Her first attempt to stand up failed and she sat back on the ground again. In a caring voice, Spark asked, "Are you feeling numb?"
Molly looked at him and shook her head slightly, and then she successfully stood up with the help of his support. She looked at Brian and wondered why he was there. She thought he was at the hospital with Becky.
"It's late," Brian said in a surprisingly calm voice. He extended one of his hands out to Molly, who ignored it. He looked at his own stretched out hand in the air, then withdrew it and said, "I found that you weren't home, so I came looking for you."
Spark felt awkward as he stood in between Brian and Molly. He looked at Brian's withdrawn hand and wondered if there was some issue between them.
Molly didn't respond to Brian. She pressed her lips together in a tight line and looked at his face - the face which always haunted her dreams and the one that was imprinted in her heart forever.
"Let's go back home, shall we?" said Brian. His voice was steady and low, like the calm before a storm.
She gulped and bit her lips. She didn't know what Brian was thinking. But as far as she knew him, she would sure be having a hard time once they were back at the villa. But if she didn't willingly go back with him, she knew that Spark would be in trouble. Taking a deep breath, Molly turned to look at Spark and said, "Spark, thank you for being here with me. I should go back now."☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
