Love Began with the First Meeting -
Chapter 654 The Painful Entanglement (Part One)
Once a person in a relationship develops insecurity about their significant other, it's hard for him/her to trust the other person. Even if it doesn't hurt anymore, he/she will refuse to accept everything about the other. Brian remained affixed and did not move.
Meanwhile, he held Molly's hand in his big palm, and while looking at Molly with his affectionate eyes, he slowly said: "Please give her a glass of juice."
Nobody knew who he was talking to, but that didn't matter. Someone instinctively responded affirmatively and offered him a glass of juice.
As Brian took the juice, he lifted Molly's hand, then slowly removed the wine glass from her grip, put the juice in front of her and said in a firm tone, "Drink this instead."
Such an absolute tone seemed to upset Molly. She looked down, pursed her lips and picked up the juice without uttering a word.
Brian held the glass in his hand up slowly, motioned to Molly, took a sip and said in a slow and indifferent tone, "It's better for women to drink less of alcohol."
Such a blatant statement shocked everyone as they kept looking at each other. The women present looked at the red wine, mixed wine, and even spirit in their glasses and then at Molly, with complicated expression in their eyes.
Molly bit her teeth secretly and held the glass in her hand harder as she sensed the palpable tension in the room. She stared at Brian, with anger and resentment for what he said and she knew that he did it on purpose!
Brian seemed to be immune to Molly's anger and spoke to the women around him again. Of course, as usual, he just gave lazy and perfunctory replies. Most of the time, it was the women who were interested in him that were engaged in the talking. Molly kept drinking the juice alone and tried hard to suppress the painful feelings boiling in her heart. All she wanted to do was cry. She kept telling herself, that everything Brian was doing now is none of her business, none of her business! "Well, well, who is that?" Suddenly, a woman expressed her doubt. Another woman beside her followed her gaze, recognized the person, and replied in shock, "Isn't that Spark?"
"Really? Where did you see him?"
"There... He just entered."
Everyone was now looking at the door, including Molly and Brian...
Spark, as always, was dressed in an unruly manner and in his leisure clothes as he walked in, followed by Manny. And before Spark could even look around, the Troupe Head approached him.
Brian leaned against the sofa with his dark eyes gradually becoming deep. He swirled the wine in his glass unintentionally, as he grew uneasy, yet smirk began to form on the corner of his lips. Peeking at Molly, Brian realized Molly's gaze was glued to Spark since he entered.
"Well, why is Spark here?"
"I don't know, either..."
"I heard he seemed to have joined our Troupe now, and it's up to him whether to participate in the rehearsal and performance or not."
"No wonder he is a superstar... He really has his own style and sway." said a female fan enthusiastically.
After Fly took a look at Spark, then at Brian and finally at Molly, she hummed coldly, "No matter how big of a star he was, he is nothing more than a bakery shop owner."
Molly pulled back her gaze from Spark, turned her attention to Fly, and frowned a little bit. When she met the Fly's sneering gaze, she clenched her hands secretly.
Myra came over, and sat near Molly. Seeing that the Troupe Head was speaking to Spark, She asked Molly, "Molly, Spark is here. Do you want to say hello to him now?"
Myra's words caught the public's attention, and then everyone, except Brian, looked at Molly, with great anticipation. They couldn't help but wonder who on earth Molly was? Not only did Mr. Brian Long have a special interest in her, but she also knew Spark? When Molly reflexively looked at Brian and saw he was still drinking there indifferently, she had a gut-wrenching feeling. She raised the corners of her lips, shook her head and said to Myra, "No, but thanks for your concern."
Myra shrugged her shoulders slightly, without saying anything further.
The atmosphere suddenly grew weird and the air was grim, which made it hard for the people too. Just as everybody looked around with evocative and expressive eyes, Spark and Manny walked towards them.
"I didn't expect to see Mr. Brian Long here," said Manny, who was the first to say hello, giving a look to Spark, indicating that he should not mess around here. Yet, deep in his mind, he was thinking that had he known Brian was here, he would never have come here with Spark. Now since the three meet each other again. It's really killing me!" Manny roared in his mind.
"Yes." Brian gave Manny a cold reply and said with a deep look at Molly, "As a sponsor, yesterday's concert was a great success, and naturally, I should treat everybody in the Troupe with a hearty party."
"Yes, of course," Manny replied hastily, looking at all the women present and said, "Then, Mr. Brian Long, you have fun. Spark and I need to greet the others present here."
After finishing his sentence, he tried to pull Spark out of the place. However, spark's feet were glued to the ground, and he did not move at all no matter how hard Manny tried to pull him away. Manny grew so anxious that he began to sweat all over his back. Looking at the crowd, he said in a low voice, "Spark, you don't want Little Molly to get embarrassed, do you now?"
Even though Spark was determined not to leave, hearing such words, he had no other choice but to be dragged away by force.
Spark's departure did not ease the atmosphere, but in fact, made it tenser, and the girls looked at each other, speechlessly.
Not a trace of an expression could be found on Brian's chiseled handsome face, but evident hostility in his body actually made everybody silent. Molly dropped her gaze, with a light but desperate smile flashing in the corners of her lips.
Just at the moment, soothing music came washing through leisurely. The center of the venue was emptied, and gradually, some people walked in and danced to the tunes of the melodious music.
"Mr. Brian Long, would you like to dance?" A brave woman proposed the idea to him shyly, leaving her reserve aside.
"Yes, Mr. Brian Long, let's dance together." Suddenly, someone followed her request, as if she was trying to compete with the brave woman.
Brian slowly looked at the crowd and drew his attention to Molly, who was looking down, as if not interested in the things around her. Seeing that Brian had been staring at Molly, Myra gently tapped Molly on her shoulder. She then reflexively looked up and had direct eye contact with him.
"Mol, may I ask you for a dance?" an elegant voice came through. ☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
