Chapter 141
Armed with the knowledge that all the comments were now in his favor, Easton tightly grabbed Madelyn's sleeve.
"Maddie, please. Let's replace a quiet place to talk it out."
Madelyn couldn't bear it any longer. She figured that if he wanted to put up an act, she would as well.
"You? Take care of me? Look at you. Everything you have on you was bought with that old man's money! You were the one who personally sent me to his bed. How could you now blame me for being heartless?"
Easton and the people around were taken aback.
All the disdainful looks that had been directed at Madelyn were now turned to Easton in shock.
Easton clearly didn't expect Madelyn to be that different. He wondered how she could behave like this now, such a stark contrast to the fool he had previously thought she was.
Her sudden move left Easton stunned and unable to respond.
Those who had looked down on Madelyn a while ago scrutinized Easton's awkward expression and assumed what she said was true.
The hostile comments were now directed at Easton.
"Nowadays, these pretty boys really know no limits. They would even sell their girlfriends!"
"Precisely. I thought it was the woman who was dirty."
"That's true. I didn't expect that she would actually marry the old man. He can't blame her for getting rid of him and being heartless at all!" Easton's face turned pale when he heard the crowd.
Madelyn lowered her gaze. With a raised brow, she watched him return to his senses. She then shook him off with
disgust and sneered.
"Compared to my old darling, you're nothing."
Easton was utterly speechless. Madelyn didn't replace her remarks disgusting.
Seeing Easton's face darken with rage gave Madelyn a sense of satisfaction.
Talk it out, huh? He was just after the shares Athena gave her. Did he really think she was still the fool she was in her previous life?
Feeling quite pleased, she turned around but saw someone she didn't expect.
Andrew stood nearby, his gaze dark and cold. He turned and walked away.
Madelyn felt a chill run up her spine, realizing he had heard
everything..
Unable to worry about the people still pointing and
gossiping about her and Easton, she hurriedly went after Andrew.
"Darling, wait! Wait for me."
Easton's cold face was as dark as ink.
Rowan, who had seen the whole thing after rushing there, gave Madelyn a look to wish her good luck, which made her even more anxious.
She frantically replayed what she had said in her head, trying to figure out which words had set him off.
After careful consideration, it seemed like nothing she said was right.
When she saw Andrew enter the car, she couldn't care less about her rotten luck that day and quickly squeezed in
before the door closed shut.
She found the atmosphere freezing in that small space. It was enough to make anyone shiver.
Madelyn clung to Andrew's arm.
"Darling, I was wrong. It isn't what you think. Let me explain."
Rowan, who was sitting in the driver's seat, was at a loss.
She had been acting tough in front of Easton before, yet she was now as docile as a lamb.
Andrew wondered if Easton knew about this. He figured that If he did know, the latter would probably be furious enough to have a heart attack.
Andrew ignored her as he listened to her gentle and
coquettish voice. In the confined space, his rapid breathing revealed his intense anger.
Madelyn diffidently got on his lap and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Darling, please say something. You're scaring me."
She was genuinely afraid of Andrew getting upset.
When she was young, she had been spanked twice for disturbing him while he did his homework. Since then, she had always been afraid of his angry expression. When Andrew continued to ignore her, she gazed at him tearfully.
Andrew furrowed his brows.
"Didn't I tell you not to meet with him?"
"He came to me! I swear!"
Madelyn was ready to swear on her life that she was telling
the truth.
Andrew asked, "Am I your old darling?"
Madelyn gulped..
Rowan was also breaking out in a cold sweat in front of the car, regretting to have followed along. He wondered what sort of dirty talk he was eavesdropping on. The diffident Madelyn didn't dare meet Andrew's eyes.
She nestled in his arms and mumbled, "You are eight years older than me, though."
